I am a house player in Texas. I get paid by playing in a local poker club. I make about $6K-$8K at $1/3 NLH and sometimes $5/5 games in a month. My total monthly income from playing poker is over $10K.
A poker pro once told me, " all slow playing does is cost you money." When you flop a set, build the pot yourself, don't wait for others to do it for you.
U played the 22s fine but u should have folded on the river. You got called then raised 100% jt as the hand played out. Also don't raise turn your still getting called by JT even if u bet 150$ u get 2 calls and on the river you will get stacked. I think you played the hand perfectly until u called river bet. JT is still calling turn bc he has implied odds to stack you or other player. @BrantzenPoker
That’s true in loose passive games. In a tough short handed games with tons of stabbing and checkraising it’s amazing to slow play a set. In a loose passive game where you’re getting called down by Q9 it makes sense to start blasting on the flop.
This isn't really a slowplay; going for a c/r is a very viable strategy playing OOP and even more viable on boards that aren't favorable to your range. I still like betting here merely because most live players don't bluff enough and are liable to call even overbets with an A here, and polarizing your range with a 1.5x (or more) bet works probably better than a c/r.
For the 22 hand, it makes much more sense to bet bigger on the river like 200-250. You make more value when you get called and it won't generate many more folds. Then, if you get raised you have a very easy fold.
Loving the content! The Narrative of your journey makes it super engaging. I understand you say that you were under-bankrolled for Hustler - with that said I also understand your position as "poker player / content creator" instead of just "poker player"; getting onto these streams and getting your face out there is important so I see it as a calculated risk that just didn't pay off.
The biggest problem that I saw with you playing in the Hustler's stream is that not only were you not playing your best but the WAY MORE IMPORTANT thing is do not play bigger games then your backroll let's you. This is by far the most important rule to a professional poker player. I lived off of $20/$40 limit poker for 3 years while paying rent in Atlantic City in 2008...Never once did I take a chance at a higher game! You have to stay disciplined! I want this dream to work for you more than anyone but you NEED to hold yourself accountable and you will need friends like me to tell you the truth when it's hard to hear! I have faith you will climb out of this hole tho! Good luck brother!
ok, im like half way through, you are right. You need to bet way way way more. It is far better to bet and charge your opponents to draw out on you rather than trying to be tricky playing your hand and then let them get there for free. a bet on the turn and then the river with the set of dueces wins you middle size pot instead of losing $400! Poker is HARD bro! I'm sure you know that! Keep up the good work tho! Make sure you keep studying and using that info to improve your game! Doing great!
In theory going for a c/r on that board would be fine for many reasons (it's not a great board for your range, A will hit many hands, etc.), but in general I default to betting my made hands live because other players just don't bluff enough and are liable to call more. Instead of going for a c/r, just polarize your range here and bet like 1.5x pot with only A5s and 22 and throw in a 64s as a bluff (if you ever have that here).
From what I've watched on the Hustler streams, it seems like maybe a more old school/exploitative strategy may be more effective than GTO? Or venturing off GTO a bit more than usual?
I saw you smash into that massive pothole on the hustle live stream.screeching sound - Total wreck! Look Broski, shit happens. Keep your chin up, you're a good player. I think more players need to understand (like golfers) playing with your friends everything seems easy, playing on Sunday with Tiger woods under the lights is not. At least now, you have some reps under your belt. Now Go win big! ;)
@@BrantzenPoker yeah man. Remember your body, mind, etc reacts/operates differently under pressure and we need to learn how to make decisions under pressure. This may sound weird, but I think that Hustler livestream disaster will end up being a good thing in the long run. You learned some valuable lessons, and next time you take a shot you'll have a much better idea how to prepare for it. Of course I wish you had won big, but I think you're going to be all right in the end. Here's to a huge 2024!
makes sense about the stream being different. How can you play against someone like casino king calling big 3 bets with nothing and then somehow getting there??
I personally would fold those deuces pre. The line after flop is no problem, as I think I would've done the same. Playing a marginal hand out of position is not good. (someone could re-raise behind you pre-flop)
Nobody at these stakes are playing how “they should”. Especially at the gardens 5/5/10 bounty/bomb pot games. They’re never going to understand what you’re doing or why.
Please, please don't depend on others to bet your hand for you? If you donk flop (its live poker...) J10 off never sees the river.. its not high stakes where double floats are a thing... Total negative EV in hindsight (results oriented, granted..)
What were you thinking about the 22 hand?checking the flop and the turn. You think ur set is invicible?lol. If you play like that more losing games to you brother. Nice clickbait

Was in that pocket 6s hand, I should've sent that last barrel :(. Nice meeting you though!

10:26 regarding looking for the best table in the room; how do you do this? Thanks
Let's goooooo Brantzen!

Hustler may not have gone your way, but a little birdie told me you might get some livestream redemption soon 👀
Good luck in the giveaway everyone!
Shocked you won the AK on KJT79 board. I guess he had AJ or AT or K6 and below? lol
Haha I’m not sure - pretty disgusting board. But we were so shallow by the turn I think you still have to go with it
Bankroll determines the style one should pay and the game

Hey!!!
How much just poker please? Have two separate please.

10:25 how does he call with QJ?? He can only beat JT suited
on tilt
Play well sometimes being aggressive and sometimes being passive.
I like this ten k per month gimmick. I’m invested Lfg
Damn how did he call with Q high? Wish I was at this table 🤦♂️
Always fast play those flopped sets
Guess so 👍
Let’s go brantzen

QJ called you…… what a fish
That JQ hands sends Odd , he had absolutely nothing and calls.. that guy needs to quit poker for life

True but that’s the natural counter to over aggressive play

Checking the flop is completely standard. Checking the turn is pretty standard there too, but I already said it was a mistake
Where do you play omg the people horrible players they just giving u money lol..Q high called yr allin?? Ahahah
Gotta look around - good table selection 👌
