    This is literally my hometown, Soda Springs! Legend tells that it originally was named Beer Springs as the spring waters were used for beer, too.

    One unsung hero of the Oregon Trail was Ezra Meeker. He had the insight to preserve and mark the trail around 1919 before it was all ploughed under.

    Hi, Sally. I think that Soda springs, Idaho, is named for the hundred natural springs of carbonated water that are located in and around the city.
    Also, This area has a continental climate and weather with long ,cold, snowy winter and cool summers.

    When my sister Brenda lived at home, she treated the lawn with a can of beer, some Dawn Dishwashing Liquid and one other item. No phosphates, and they had the greenest lawn on the street.

    I know people east of the Mississippi pronounce it Oregon and although I was born in Rhinelander Wisconsin I have spent a good chunk of my life out west.... And out here we pronounce it OregEn... Love your channel...enjoy !!!

      I was born and bred a cheesehead and I truly believe Wisconsin and the people that live there are the best... Really !!! Out west is just okay but Wisconsin is number #1... Go Pack Go !!!

      Grew up in nj and always pronounced it correctly. Maybe just the red states east of the Mississippi who can't educate their students are at fault.

    Born and raised in, Independence, MO. Every Labor Day weekend, there would be, “Santa-Cali-Gon Days, in and around the square in downtown Independence.

    When I was a child I lived on in a ranch southeast of Soda Springs over near the Wyoming border. The Oregon Trail went through the property. Our water was piped from a spring used by the travelers back then.

    Never gave it much thought on why its called Soda Springs. Now i know. Oh, and i have lived about 2 hours south of there for the last 60 years. I need to get out more!!!!😊

    I am at Clear Lake State Park in Lake County, California right now. I did hit a cougar with my 2016 Buick Envision on Route 96 in Siskiyou County, California. I am based in King County, Washington. Clear Lake State Park is an awesome place to camp, but I arrived late. Will take at a motor Inn again. Setting up camp in the dark sucks. Later.

    I have never heard of the trail you describe. I grew up near Independence, OR, which is the terminus of the Oregon trail that began in Independence, MO.

      A dinky dining car would be great! With the dinky burger and fries they could serve up a side of dinky nuggets aka deep fried cheese curds.

    Interesting town that seems to be taken care of and is proud of its history. BTW-just recently watched one of your earliest videos-the Alexian Bros. Mansion.     Oregon...pronounced Orygun....no really...lolol the gon should sound like "gun" lol. Born and raised in " Orygun" but have lived and traveled all over this country.
    We traveled the entire Oregon trail in 1997...pretty cool!
