Hi, Sally. I think that Soda springs, Idaho, is named for the hundred natural springs of carbonated water that are located in and around the city. Also, This area has a continental climate and weather with long ,cold, snowy winter and cool summers. Anyway, I always thank you for your video. Best wishes to you! ❤
I know people east of the Mississippi pronounce it Oregon and although I was born in Rhinelander Wisconsin I have spent a good chunk of my life out west.... And out here we pronounce it OregEn... Love your channel...enjoy !!!
I was born and bred a cheesehead and I truly believe Wisconsin and the people that live there are the best... Really !!! Out west is just okay but Wisconsin is number #1... Go Pack Go !!!
When my sister Brenda lived at home, she treated the lawn with a can of beer, some Dawn Dishwashing Liquid and one other item. No phosphates, and they had the greenest lawn on the street.
Never gave it much thought on why its called Soda Springs. Now i know. Oh, and i have lived about 2 hours south of there for the last 60 years. I need to get out more!!!!😊
Born and raised in, Independence, MO. Every Labor Day weekend, there would be, “Santa-Cali-Gon Days, in and around the square in downtown Independence.
Interesting town that seems to be taken care of and is proud of its history. BTW-just recently watched one of your earliest videos-the Alexian Bros. Mansion. Your presentation and video skills have advanced tremendously since then--you should take immense pride in your work and give yourself a pat on the back!
Hahaha thanks! The whole time I was doing it I kept wondering if I was going to end up regretting my decision to sample that soda water 💩 thankfully I didn’t.
When I was a child I lived on in a ranch southeast of Soda Springs over near the Wyoming border. The Oregon Trail went through the property. Our water was piped from a spring used by the travelers back then.
After I am done watching this video , I'm going to check out the few you have about Utah. It's interesting how it got the name. That town kind of reminds me of Paris Idaho.
I have never heard of the trail you describe. I grew up near Independence, OR, which is the terminus of the Oregon trail that began in Independence, MO.
I am at Clear Lake State Park in Lake County, California right now. I did hit a cougar with my 2016 Buick Envision on Route 96 in Siskiyou County, California. I am based in King County, Washington. Clear Lake State Park is an awesome place to camp, but I arrived late. Will take at a motor Inn again. Setting up camp in the dark sucks. Later.
Another interesting and educational episode Sally, with a fun Coors anecdote from Marty! Maybe “Norman Bates” wasn’t besties with all those Woodalls. 😉 Seriously though, great video!!👍👍
Sally, love your videos and subbed a few months ago. Please tell me why I don't get notifications when a new vid drops? I am subbed and hit the bell and clicked all. I still have to search for your latest, or wait for you to show up in my "suggested" scroll. What am I doing wrong? Now... on to enjoying this video🥰
Baltimore's municipal tap water works just fine for me thank you. I wonder what Grandma Walton would have to say about water with a fizz. 🤔... Stayin tuned you Two! 👍🤠
You may be happy to know that John Bidwell's party made it to California. He became rich and a political leader. I live in Chico, CA which Bidwell founded. You may have heard of Chico - think Arron Rogers. P.S. I was born and raised in Oshkosh. I got hooked on your small town Wisconsin videos.
I love this video and thank you for sharing it! I just have to correct you on one thing…the pronunciation of Oregon. Lots of people pronounce it ORE-A-GONE - It is pronounced ORE-A-GUN.
Seltzer up at Soda Springs. Yee-Haa! I think they should put a dinky eating car on that locomotive. Yowzer!😂 Dinky burgers and dinky fries. As usual, great explore.
A dinky dining car would be great! With the dinky burger and fries they could serve up a side of dinky nuggets aka deep fried cheese curds. Thanks Richard 😁 now I have a hankering for some cheese curds.
Oregon...pronounced Orygun....no really...lolol the gon should sound like "gun" lol. Born and raised in " Orygun" but have lived and traveled all over this country. We traveled the entire Oregon trail in 1997...pretty cool! I love seeing the country!❤
I wonder if Google Earth shows the wagon wheel tracks? While looking for the 29 Mule Team tracks in Death Valley we found all kinds of other wagon tracks. Thank you for the great videos!?!
The outdoor theater operates during the summer and has a grill.

This is literally my hometown, Soda Springs! Legend tells that it originally was named Beer Springs as the spring waters were used for beer, too.
It's so gorgeous over there.
Downey, Idaho watching. 🙋🏻♂️
I am a resident of Soda Springs. Own a downtown building built in 1939 as their Post Office.
One unsung hero of the Oregon Trail was Ezra Meeker. He had the insight to preserve and mark the trail around 1919 before it was all ploughed under.
I loved this video. Such a scenic town with rich history. Thank you for sharing.😊❤
Northern Michigan subscriber love being First ! My comment is Sally & MARTY PLUS YOUR DOGGIES ARE THE SWEETEST !!!
Woohoo so do we!!
P.s. thank you 😊

Grew up in nj and always pronounced it correctly. Maybe just the red states east of the Mississippi who can't educate their students are at fault.
@@drexlspivey3047 your sad bias is glaring.
OR-e-gun
Oregon has not gone anywhere. It is pronounced Or-e-gun.

Very entertaining and informative episode, Sally. Great content, quality, production and especially presentation! I never miss an episode. Cheers!
I am a Idaho guy and have been there many time fishing in summer and heading to ski races in the winter. 😀
Another great video Sally. I learned a little something in this video as usual!🤩
Awesome! Thank you! 😃
Oh I enjoyed this so much. Thankyou for all the history. You are great.
Thank you for a gr8 tour of this scenic community
Well done, well researched and well presented. Kudos! You're head and shoulders above the rest.
Imagine how they felt back then seeing this beautiful land. It's sad to see the unmanaged over population slowly consuming everything green and good.
In Soda Springs?

Hi, Sally. Thank you for your video ❤
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND SALLY ❤AND MARTY 😊
So interesting with the soda springs. I’d have to bring some crown Royal so I could mix it with the fizzy water around 5PM 😁
Another interesting and educational episode Sally, with a fun Coors anecdote from Marty! Maybe “Norman Bates” wasn’t besties with all those Woodalls. 😉 Seriously though, great video!!👍👍

@@SightseeingSally You’re welcome👍 I can’t believe no one else picked up on Norman Bates, you made it pretty obvious…😆
Did it start "snownkling" while you were filming. (snowkling = sprinkling of snow. I made this word up)

I wonder what would have happen if you had thrown a handful of Mentos into that spring.
Hmmm, plop, plop, fizz, fizz comes to mind.

You've seen those coke bottles shoot way up. With a hole that big, you could have gone to jail for reactivating the geysers.

Hmm, I wonder that too.

Haha, Marty has/had the same problem with the Oregon Trail game I did! 3:11 🤣🤣🤣

It sure did 😂
