Thank you for demonstrating the experimental procedure. It is very useful for my experiment. I would like to learn more about: 1) how should we pick the frequency range and ac voltage for the experiment? 2) which model should we use for the data fitting? Your help is highly appreciated!
@@miricagroup6809 Hi, 1. Yes, this is crucial to know what is actually happening in the inner Helmholtz or outer Helmholtz plane. Different sample will have different frequency range of interest. 2. For the circuit model, this is tricky since it is all depends on the type of sample as well as the Bode plot pattern that you will get. If you didn't have any idea on whixh circuit to be used, we can guess the electrical component based on the pattern of your Bode and Nyquist plots. Probably you can check my recorded videos (KAA504) on EIS for more information
Dear Professor Hussin, your video is very helpful. May I ask some references that explain the Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy mechanism with this tool and and parameter values that need to be inputed in the software? Thank you very much ✨
Hi, please check my publications related to polymer electrolyte studies. I have used similar setup and all parameters are written in the article. All the best to you.
Thank you very much Professor Hussin for this useful video. I'd appreciate it if you explain how to save the fitting data in Gamry. + What are the components of "CPE with diffusion" circuit exactly? would it be possible to share with us the title of your publication in this regard? Many thanks
Thank you for your post. Well, to save the fitted data you can just save as the file after the perfect fitting has been done. It will be saved under .GData format
Thank you very much for this video, it is really helpful. When the Nyquist plot is a semi-circle, can the CPE with diffusion model be used to fit the curve, or else which model is preferable?
If the Nyquist plot shows a semicircle with a 45° line at the end (due to diffusion) of the plot, it is best to use CPE+Warburg impedance circuit for better data fitting
Professor Hussin, thanks for sharing your knowledge with this video, I'd appreciate it if you could tell why there is a relatively large value of Error with exponenstial of 18 for Rp in the video. Is this normal?
Hi, I would normally ignore the error values but will always refer to to the goodness of fit. If the goodness of fit is relatively low, then it means that the equivalent circuit used has a better fitting
Thanks for your video. By the way, where did you get this kind of cell for EIS test? I may purchase online. My sample is like sticky gel and I think I can also use similar ones. Another question is about the resistance of the cell itself. Had you deducted this value when you calculated the resistance of your sample?
That's a good question. Yeah, we have checked the resistance of the cell holder itself and because of the resistance value is too low the actual resistance of the sample is not differ much
Hello Professor Hussin, I wanted to know whether you have conducted EIS with soil environment. If yes, please guide me through the procedure and difficulties associated.
Yes, i have tested soil sample as well but under two different conditions. 1. I run dried soil sample for conductivity measurement using EIS. For this purpose I use two electrode sandwich system. 2. I did corrosion monitoring of steel sample buried in soil. But it is not dried, it has at least 40% of water and for the reference electrode i have used silver wire, while counter electrode is graphite.
Dear Hussin, thanks for sharing your knowledge , I watched in the video , 9:40min , before user measured a sample thin film. is p-type silicon as a substrate and the film is Silicon carbide?. In addition is possible to send me the dimensions of the solid/film sample holder.
In the case of corrosion, we look at Rp value. But since this video is more on finding conductivity of solid sample, the Rp or Rct is assumed as bulk resistance to be insert in conductivity formula.
Assalamualaikum Dr, i use the same setup as your for the solid polymer electrolyte usinf HZ7000 potentiostat. But for the nyquist plot my data is not a semicircle/straight it was scattered instead. May i know the possibility of this matter come from whether the sample of SPES itself or else. I use the same parameter as stated in the video. Thank you Dr
Well, scattered data points could from various reasons like poor interfacial contact between the electrode and the membrane, connection problem, sample is too thick or not homogeneous, disturbance from surrounding, wrong frequency range etc..perhaps you can check some of this reason
Assalamualaikum Dr Hazwan. Saya ingin bertanya, jika sampel saya adala film (starch+ graphene nanoplatelet) boleh tak saya gunakan kaedah rendaman (with an electrolyte and 3 electrodes) dalam melakukan ujian EIS
