  • Today, I will show you how you can turn any yogurt into a super thick yogurt. Sometimes I need my yogurt to be super thick for certain salads and deserts and this is where this tip becomes helpful. You can thicken a store bought yogurt or yogurt you made yourself.

    For the method with the cheesecloth on the jar, try resting the jar on it's side instead of upside down so that a vacuum doesn't form inside the jar.

    Hi, i have been making easiyo yoghurt for a long time using the black yoghurt maker. There are really times especially these past weeks that my yoghurt will set but the consistency isn't that smooth and thick like the usual yoghurt. Sometimes it's lumpy. I dont know what's wrong. I'm very particular into the temperature and the cleanliness of the things i used while making it.

    • @AnOldSchoolHome
      @AnOldSchoolHome  2 роки тому

      I am not sure what could cause that… did you change the starter milk/yogurt?

  • @sachiweaver5886
    @sachiweaver5886 3 роки тому +4

    Hey, Would you have any interest in trying to COPYCAT Clio Yougurt bars? They list xantham gum, dehydrated strawberries but it TASTES like yogurt witha consistency of cheesecake, BUT no cheese. It tastes like yogurt, we want that taste, but i'm not sure how to stabalize the THICK yogurt into a "cheesecake" consistency with no eggs. You can find these bars at wallmart, albertsons, safeway etc, but they are spendy. Walmart is the lowest price at 1 buck a bar, and they are about half the size of a candybar with 8 grabs of protein and covered in a very thin layer of daerk chocolate. I love your thick yogurt, usually i like thin yogurt for drinking but in this application, deffinately need THICK, cheesecake thick, but NO EGGS.
    Please please please make a video attempting this if youve any idea :) Blessings and peace, love your video,
    Sachi

    Her yogurt was already thick enough for my liking. How about a video showing how the original stuff was made? Was whole milk instead of skim milk used? Was powdered skim milk added? Real cream added? Gelatin or pectin added?

      Hello! Well, I am not sure if it will work with lactose free milk - I really don’t know about that... And for sure 2 spoons of yogurt for a gallon of milk is not enough. I’m not sure if you can fix that... you can repeat the process using more yogurt but I don’t know if it will work. I’m sorry I’m not much help...

    Isn't this the same as Greek yogurt?

    • @AnOldSchoolHome
      @AnOldSchoolHome  Рік тому +1

      Hi Carmen, we have an ongoing debate with the Greeks about who invented yogurt :)) So, we the Bulgarians, call it Bulgarian yogurt. Technically, it is the same thing. The only difference that I can see having been to Greece a couple of years ago, the Greek yogurt is a lot more thicker than the Bulgarian yogurt. And I believe because of that, the Bulgarian yogurt has more probiotics. The actual name of the bacteria has “Bulgaria” in it:
      “Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus (until 2014 known as Lactobacillus bulgaricus) is one of over 200 published species in the Lactobacillus genome complex (LGC)[1][not verified in body] and is the main bacterium used for the production of yogurt”
