I was brewing with a deck with a similar idea to this, but it was more focused on energy with Jolted Awake and Galvanic Discharge and using Inventor's Ax to equip for free along with Experimental Synth for draw and bouncing with Glint Hawk and Kor Skyfisher to try and get value. It only ran a couple Goblin Gaveleer rather than Champion. I haven't been able to test it though, so no idea how good it is.
Now that's an idea. David Royale had a Boros Energy Reanimator deck that looked awesome. I wonder if there's a possibility for synergy between the two lists.
I was messing around with that same idea using Inventor's Axe and Jolted Awake. I was going for more of a prowess build and I had Crackling Cyclops and Cyclops Superconductor because they both can trigger off of equipment entering. The idea was to try to cast and equip the Superconductor (using Inventor's Axe and other cheap "equip on ETB" equipments), then get a big hit in with Superconductor, sacrifice it to something like Fling, and then pay the energy cost to deal damage equal to its power to a player - that's like triple strike lol. Had Cliffhaven Kitesail for evasion, and the thought was that you could reanimate the Superconductor to try and get in any last damage after a turn like that, or reanimate to get it back if the opponent focus fires on it. The Crackling Cyclops could also get up to like 10 power with just 2 equipment that give +2/0 (of which there are a few for 1 mana) because it gets +3/0 for each noncreature spell you cast. If you get it up to 10 power and hit the opponent, then fling, it's over. A bit convoluted, but I thought the basic idea was cool (i.e. using those cheap equipments for value and energy). Haven't finished building it so no idea how good it is or is not. I think adding Battlefield Improvisation could be great as well as Goblin Gaveleer.
For equipment decks I highly recommend including creatures with first strike, or some way to give them first strike.....since you can deal damage with an equipped first striker, then move the gear to a different warrior with resolute strike when normal damage is dealt. TBR also works 😂
Great! Glad to see you playing janky decks! but you should try inventor's axe, leather armor and Cathar shield. You have an aggressive game plan but paying all that mana for equipments is slowing you down. Maybe, even the depletion lands like sandstone needle are a good option for this deck.
Looks like a blue mage trying to play an aggro deck... swapping 1 drops for 2 mana draw spells doesn't really seem to be in the game plan for this brew but really seems fun!
I'm confused, why was the standard bearer a problem? You can only equip your own creatures so it's ability to make you choose a Flagbearer wouldn't work because you can't, since you don't have one, right? Loved the video! Always happy to see an Assassin's Creed card played!
The only successful way I got to do this, was with ramp + Colossal Dreadmask (+ a few other living weapons). Then battlefield improvisation when the opponent was least expecting it, as you did.
Sweet. I play a mono-red equipment stompy deck from time to time. Tough I am much more on the aggro side and instead of trying to attach equipment's with some white trick, I just play equipments that attach when they come into play. I did attack with a 9 power goblin on turn 2 once, which feels very good. If the creature gets taken out the equipments are great targets for Kuldotha rebirth. ^^
@@kalikaiz It's the only way to go. Still weak to any kind of removal, but there are cards that make this deck MUCH faster and more resilient. Great idea deck donation, they make the format richer but I think that mono island is kind of unusual. That decklist run no removal, no interaction with opponent (no thraben charm even in sb???); no way your opponent lets make you do your game and take 20 damage in turn 4.
