- Follow along inside the Drews Precision Machine shop while we install a shouldered barrel on to a Savage action.
The customer wanted the rifle chambered in 270 WSM. The 270 WSM is a great round for deer sized game.
The 270 Winchester Short Magnum is a fast, flat shooting hard hitting round that has been a favorite of deer hunters for many years.
The downside of the 270 Winchester is felt recoil. To help assist the shooting of this 270 wsm we installed a muzzle brake to help tame the rifles recoil.
The installation of this muzzle brake took some planning. Unlike many other muzzle brakes this one used the shoulder of the barrel for timing the brake or clocking the brake to the rifles action.
To top off this build we blended the muzzle brake to make disappear to the rifles barrel profile.
Finally we laser engraved 270 WSM on the barrel along with the rifles twist and barrel manufacturer brand.
Wilson barrels have been amazing shooters for our customers,
God Bless,

I hear what you are saying re the grub screw on a solid reamer potentially skewing the reamer.
Have you considered a solid reamer setup using a mild shrink fit with opposing grub screws to eliminate this?
I'm a fan of using the carriage for these operations, rather than the tailstock, also.
Thanks for sharing 👍
I’m looking at a bison floating reamer holder with a er25. Seems like it would fix the set screw issue.
Thanks for watching
How do the Wilson barrels shoot?
Absolutely amazing
I have not. But I’m really thinking about it. Bison makes a floating reamer holder that has Er collets that have my attention
