Do you have any different options for chip breaker or nose radius on your rougher to help break the string. .0125" is a small cut and might need a .008" nose radius to have a chance to break a chip generallyyou want a nose radius smaller than your depth of cut. I assume your running a .031 radius as 6ipm at 1000rpm is .006/rev which is a 63 with a .031" also I have found upping the sfm can help break a chip and get chatter out of threads. 1000rpm on a 1" dia is only 260sfm just going to 300 or 325sfm can make a big difference if you haven't already tried it. I plan to have a gage maker to measure action thread pitch diameter and PD mics or a gage maker to measure barrel pitch diameter. Not cheap tools but it will take the guess work out of cutting threads with minimum but proper clearance.

I’m using the gang tooling for everything. A finishing insert has zero tool pressure for muzzle threads.
I have used roughers and semi roughers finish was fine but tool pressure got me excited.
These are .0156 radius cutters. I could try and go to .008 to see if that helps brake the chips.
Pass wise I’m going .025 deep.
I may up the rpm to 1200 for threading.
My chamber flush rotary union may get agitated if I go more then that.
I appreciate the pointers. Thanks for reaching out. Get ahold of me. I thine I would enjoy a conversation via phone.

@DustinDrews1 ahhh yes you have limiting factors of the rotary union I didn't think about good call. I'll give you a call this week.
