  • Have you wanted to install a custom L-track floor in your Van but hate the thought of drilling through the floor? Yeah, my thoughts exactly. That's why I designed a way to do a custom L-track floor without drilling through my vanfloor. It took me a while to figure out how I would do it, but once the lightbulb went off I got busy. With a few modifications along the way I can honestly say now after using the van for months with this floor, it's been pretty flawless and wouldn't hesitate to build it the same way again. Let me know what you think down in the comments, and comment with any questions you might have. Thanks! That floor install looks perfect.
    I've bought a few of those lightweight bike display stands for home so personally I'd be tempted to use them in the van with a quick lashing system.
    I'm about to sell my first camper build and if i buy another panel van I'd definitely design a very simple multifunctional space like you've done.
    Great job 👍

    Nice L track floor system install. .Are you a trade professional . Your attention to detail shows on your video. I've watched a lot of videos trying to get some modular van build setups ideas and have been really impressed with your build so far. I am a custom cabinetmaker ,mountain biker, snowboarder, hiker and road triper and your design really works for trades workers and weekend warriors.

      Thanks! Yes I'm a master electrician by trade but also have alot of experience in industrial building maintenance, power plant maintenance and operations and general construction. I wanted my build to fit our lives whatever we are doing, from working to playing to camping etc. So far I'm loving it...

    It looks great man! But my goodness that's a ton of work ha ha, wish there was an easier way, I'm currently doing a van build and feel your pain, everything takes 3 times longer than you would think.

      I know it... after this build I did realize I didn't need to go this far but I was unsure of my layout and wanted versatility. I've basically mounted my can trays and have never rearranged. Except spacing them out more or less here and there side to side

    Nice work! Thank you for the video. After doing the work and using it, would you (highly) recommend the coin mat flooring. I am planning on doing the whole floor with it. Also was/is there a rubber odour from the mat? Cheers!

    • @Projectnortheast
      @Projectnortheast  2 роки тому +1

      I like the coin mat but it is a pain to clean if you like a squeaky clean floor. Can't just sweep it and wipe like a vinyl floor. Didn't really have an odor really. If it did it wasn't for long . But the recpro coin mat is really good and durable.

  • @nexpro6985

    I feel that those long screws you put in thru to the ply strips are going to cause you problems. The tapered part needs to be all the way thru the ply to grip securely. I hope this works for you.

    • @Projectnortheast
      @Projectnortheast  2 роки тому

      It's worked great for 9 months... honestly I don't think it will be able issue as realistically I could've just left it and dealt with it being "floating" on the edge. After I put the Ltrack down it sandwiches all the layers together even if the adhesive fails years down the road which I doubt it will. The screws were just because I'm OCD about stuff like that and tend to way over build and didn't like the slight movement on the edge...

    What mounting hardware did you use to mount the van trays?

    • @Projectnortheast
      @Projectnortheast  Рік тому +1

      Used L-track stud fittings. They are pretty standard for L-track. If you Google it they will come right up. I did make some 1/8" plates with a large hole to space the racks off the l-track as well so that the one up racks were super firm and didn't wobble

    I just discoverd your videos THANKS! I am building out my 202 for moto and MTB. How doe the 1up trays work for you? How are they keeping the bike in place...I was thinking of using them but can't find any info about how to actually holding the bike from coming out of the trays.

    • @Projectnortheast
      @Projectnortheast  2 роки тому +1

      My one up trays hold the bike just fine as long as you bungee the front wheel from flopping around. I just use a big rubber twist tie around an l track anchor. My buddy with a similar build just uses a bungee cord through the wheel to keep the front wheel from flopping around as that's what causes the bike to wiggle out. If the front is secured I've never had my bike come out

    Why install L track width-wise? Isn’t it normally installed along the length of vehicle?

    • @Projectnortheast
      @Projectnortheast  2 роки тому

      Can be installed however you want to use it. Length wise is traditional for trailers and such but mine is mostly for bikes and also serves as a point to tie down whatever I need to. If you watch the video you'll see I set them the width apart that I would need for the bike racks to fit multiple ways

    How’s the head clearance to the roof now that you’ve added this flooring system? And will you be adding roof insulation and paneling? I’m 5’10” and would really like to get a medium roof Transit like you have instead of high roof. Is it still comfortable to walk and stand in?

    • @Projectnortheast
      @Projectnortheast  2 роки тому +2

      With flooring and then paneling on the roof I'd say the clearance will be about 5' 9" or so. If I weren't using the van for a daily driver I would prolly go high roof for more room. But this van is a daily driver and kindof a weekend warrior style build and I go through the drive through all the time haha
