You actually can loose feeling and the ability to taste in your tongue if it's pierced wrong.
If you do it in certain spots or hit nerves, it can damage the nerve causing you to lose feeling/sensations in that area of your tongue.
But you can’t get paralysed from a tongue piercing haha. I guess the worst case scenarios are: if you hit a major blood vessel you can bleed out and lose heaps of blood, or infections that turn septic (aka blood poisoning, super dangerous) but technically that could happen with any piercing.

omg you're adorable lol. i just got mine pierced a few days ago, and even tho I'm 23 yrs old, i was that level of nervous. then the piercing itself didn't really hurt, but the healing process isnt the most comfortable lol.

Dude I so feel putting the cold water bottle under your jaw though. When I got my tongue pierced it wasn't even my tongue that hurt the most, it was all the muscles and tissue that surrounded my tongue. Especially the ones on the under side of my tongue. There's a pressure point area right under there that if you press hard enough usually hurts like hell but once I got my tongue done and all throughout the healing process it would feel absolutely amazing and relieving to apply hard pressure to that area. Everytime my boyfriend would drive his thumb under my jaw during the healing process I would cry a little because of how good it felt to have some of the pain relieved. Getting the piercing done was nothing, it's the healing process that really sucks and is definitely painful.

I got mine like two weeks ago i was so shocked bc of how painless it is the only thing that hurt me from this piercing was that damn healing process!
I’ve had easily over 10 body piercings, and yet I would be equally as terrified as her if I was going to get my tongue pierced (tbh probs more scared lmao). I’ve always been too scared to get my tongue pierced for some reason. Not that I want it, so I guess it’s okay 😂

For all people wanting to know if it hurts! I've had 8 different piercings and I would say this is about a 5/10 rating its the healing that hurts rather than the actual needle, I would eat a big meal and if you're a sweet junkie I would get your fill because you will be eating soup by day 2 until about day 5 and after day 7 everything is back to normal, and you will be soo glad you had it done, you will feel it but its not unbearable just bite the bullet and get it done you will be buzzing! Btw if it really hurt that bad I wouldn't of got mine re-pierced! And the second time she just pushed it through lol, hope this helped ease your minds lol, btw under any circumstances never ever get your septum done thats a 10/10!!! 😵😵😵😵

This piercing doesn't hurt really, ur tongue swells a tiny bit...but as long as u don't rub it on ur it teeth or lip it's fine. And non alcoholic mouth wash twice a day to clean it

I love this! Honestly it's like how I am. I love piercings but every time I go to get one I get so nervous then when they actually do it, it's nothing! Her reaction afterwards was so cute too haha

EXACTLY how my experience went! It was so quick I didn't even know he already did it . I didnt bleed or nothing. My tongue jumping from all the pain at one time for about 30 minutes. I've had mine for 8yrs now ; but it takes some getting use too . TIP: when you get it pierced the ring they give you is super EXTRA long when you can finally change it after 8 weeks or something like that .. buy only SHORT bars not the long because the roof of your mouth will be irritated & raw.

I got it done at "Body by Design" however, the piercer works somewhere else across the street I believe hahah :) He works at 7 day gallery and his Instagram is in the video bio. I paid $50. his work is really clean and he makes his customers feel really comfortable. Ive been going to him for 4 years now :)

It seems skin is harder to go through. I got 3 piercings on my belly, and those always take forever! I feel it ripping through. I got my snakebites, septum, nostril, surface arms, dermals, 3 in belly button, and collarbone, my ears gauged to 9/16th, all over my ears, and I’m getting my tongue but I’m terrified!!! And I’m covered in tattoos! I’ve never been so terrified of anything in my life but this tongue piercing!!

HA! You had decent music playing when you had yours done. They told me I had a good piercing tongue. Honestly, the nostril hurts worse than anything. The tongue for me was a breeze. Took a while to get used to though.

He should have done that way faster so you wouldn’t get worked up 😂 it was amazing how fast my piercer even got everything repaired. I was sooo calm when I got mine, but I’m not scared of pain so I think that was part of it 🤣

This is probably exactly how I would act getting it done. Always thinking the worst is gonna happen and saying “ouch” when he’s just drawing the spot on and not even piercing yet. So me! 😖

I know this video is old but as a piercing assistant to a piercer the flinching and nerves often slow down the time it takes to actually get the piercing done. A word of advice to anyone getting a piercing let the piercer know that you are afraid ahead of time so that they are able to cut down the fear to not only get you pierced properly but to also do their job effectively. Do not wait til the needles roll out and say wait I'm scared because this isnt helping the situation especially in what I call " no flinch zones" simply put the needle is already to your face or body part and ready to be inserted and you flinch or jerk and end up with a jacked piercing. Also a technique I use for the piercee is to close their eyes or look up at the ceiling and say the alphabet in their head or count with their finhers. It shows how fast the piercing goes and allows your mind to focus solely on saying the alphabet or counting and nothing else. Happy piercings all you piercing fanatics!!!!

Everyone tolerance for pain is incredibly different. I went through it like nada. Wish i had a video too lol. The clamping was uncomfortable lol
