  • As Salamu Alaykum (May Peace Be Upon You All)! This video was inspired by a book I am currently reading called the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
I hope this content benefits you and reminds you that we don't need to drown ourselves in more self-development content; but what we need is the self-awareness to identify the unique vices preventing us from prioritizing the right values in our lives.
    00:00 - 2:15 - The problem with modern self-development
    2:15 - 6:18 - Women, Lifting, NoFap, Entrepreneurship
    6:18 - 6:58 - Essence vs. Appearance

Character developement instead of quick fixes. Love this perspective !
The problem with self-improvement is that it is deeply rooted in New Age beliefs, when you understand what New Age movement is all about you understand why these techniques and daily rituals dont work...and, most importantly, they dont even align with Islamic values.

This is a wonderful video, allahumma baarik. It is concerning how much of the content you describe has taken off in the last ten years, and is now permeating through demographics that don't need it and are more likely than not going to be harmed by it. I've started seeing versions of self-improvement media curated by high schoolers for their peers and it concerns me. Building habits is great. Building a superficial personality or adopting the personality of the Ivy league legacy kid with three side hustles and a six-pack is not so great. We are losing the next generation not because they aren't productive enough. In fact, I'd argue this crazy focus on productivity is a result of the material, finance-obsessed culture that has become so pervasive in the West.
We are losing the next generation in a battle of ideology and value. When you remove Allah from the picture, you lose your purpose and, therefore, have to "create" purpose which is often not meant for us. Or, we end up distorting the avenues of success in this life and making those means our purpose instead of worshipping Allah. Again, great video.

Beautifully said. I don’t blame people for getting caught up in the wrong value systems bc honestly it’s so pervasive and popular media and even social media does a great job of portraying wealth, status, and pleasure as the epitome of a life well lived.
In Shaa Allah I will try to continue to speak more about reframing our value systems and honestly try to continue to reframe my own bc I need these videos just as much as anyone else haha. May Allah guide our Ummah and all of humanity towards what is best.
