"So close but yet so far". SMU had decades to re-establish their football program's winning ways after the death penalty but instead knowingly "wondered in the football desert" with at best mediocre results. While they're neighbor to the West, TCU "kicked ass and took names" and got better every year. Dykes started to put SMU on the football map again but jumped to go to the Horned Frogs. He saw the writing on the wall, the probability of SMU ever making it to a Power Conference was was and still is slim to none. It's best chance was the PAC but based on what happened last week that opportunity was lost forever. Based on who's left/who might come into it; that league won't keep it's Power status. The ACC won't ever come to fruition for the Mustangs because that conference is going to dissolve in the coming years. Their top eight teams will either go into the Big 1G or SEC. Just accept the fact that the Mustangs are going to be the equivalent of a Boise State at best. Sooner or later Lashlee will realize this and leave for a Power school just like Sonny Dykes did.
I mean, i don’t see why the Pac schools would want to deal with more travel costs than the mountain west just to get paid ever so slightly more money just to be on backend espn instead of cbssn and fs1 but idk
if they dont go big 10, i would bet stanford goes independent more than likely. cal has student who are good at protesting and not allowing people to have free speech. but that isnt a sport.
@@Will-ts9vw Houston and Cincinnati both had far more success historically. Charlotte meanwhile struggles for donations, can’t win, and has no history! It’s not a reasonable comparison
@rangersking6699 they didn't have the same options nowadays that they did back then, they had to work with what was available, they added alot in case of getting poached again
@@Will-ts9vw Im aware, that doesn’t change the fact there’s not a chance in hell a conference with Charlotte in it is getting a-5 status. That’s not happening.
Have to agree with you on this. Was really disappointed the AAC brought in Charlotte, UAB and UTSA. Those programs have no tradition and no brand cache. Dump on Tulsa all you want, but they've been playing football since the 1890s, won the orange bowl, sugar bowl, bluebonnet bowl and actually had a decent resurgence going until they hired Montgomery in 2015... The AAC is a conundrum now. SMU is a great school with a good football team, but in a similar situation to Tulsa: everyone in your state is a Texas fan, or an A&M fan, even in the city of Dallas.
@@henrymoore7899 Sure beats associating with Wyoming, Hawaii, New Mexico, and UNLV lol. Also, who says Tulsa is involved in any of this because I said they would look to the ACC before us, and Tulsa sure as hell ain’t coming with us. I don’t think the Pac schools are coming here, I think they’re taking us with them. Playing in the aac is too much travel costs for no real benefit, they can just pull us out with all the spare tourney funds they have plus cfp money plus whatever else
Get the facts straight. The pac-12 had no exit fee. They were too arrogant to think anyone would ever leave their conference. And no teams are leaving before the grant of rights is over, so there are no buyouts either.
Wow, SMU is too good for The American, a conference they have always thought they were too good for, excepting the fact that … when did they last win The American?
Billy, no offense but I don't think you know anymore than we do abt realignment. You just ramble on and get so twisted up in non-important things until you confuse the issue. Issue here is we've followed the wrong path....AGAIN. PAC 12 is hopeless. We should have been pursuing ACC this entire last year. We should stay clear of PAC 12 AND BIG 12...BOTH ARE TAINTED. PERIOD!
Hi Terri, thanks so much for listening. It’s much appreciated. I do know how SMU is handling realignment, but as far as how leagues are handling, we’ve seen it be quite the ever-changing landscape. SMU’s been pursuing the ACC the entire time, which since you listen to my “rambling,” you should know. Thanks for your continued listening!
This headline has absolutely nothing to do with what this guy is talking about. The headline says the Pac 4 teams are being looked at but all this guy talks about is SMU. Obviously this guy is a SMU fan so I guess he doesn't give a darn about Pac teams. The video was a BIG waste of time. Stay on subject dude!
Gametime App let's go! PONY

Perhaps Stanford and Notre Dame but not Cal.
@@henrymoore7899 unless there is a package deal with stanford as travel partner
There is absolutely no way an a-5 conference is going to exist with Charlotte in it. No way.
It's an investment In a school in a very populous area, just like what they did with ucf Houston and Cincinnati

Betting on the Pac to rebuild with us in it unless the ACC is too desperate to say no to the Bay Area schools. Sure beats playing Charlotte and rice
Do you really think that Stanford and Cal would want to associate with Memphis, North Texas, Tulsa and UTSA?
