If you think about it, this Optimus is a more realistic version, being a war veteran who saw his brothers die in a war that took their world, found a new home at risk of facing the same fate, died and was resurrected. only to see how his new home was about to die, he was betrayed by his mentor (who killed one of his best soldiers and friends in cold blood), he lost several of his companions and was chased like a rat by those he swore to protect. In his position, it was normal for him to become more violent and cold, he was not willing to lose what little he had left. (I feel so sorry for this Optimus, I just want to give him a hug for all the shit he had to endure.)

He’s got next to nothing left to lose and likely centuries of pent up aggression to unleash on his foes. Off the battlefield he’s the fatherly Optimus, with his compassion and speeches, but once he’s in the midst of battle, his likely ptsd and knight training kick in. He WILL avenge his fallen comrades, he WILL defeat the decepticons, and he will NOT allow the sacrifices his friends made to be in vain.
Michael bay actually wanted to end the Trilogy on Dark of the moon. So some people want to believe that was the end of the films than to see AOE and TLK.
I like to think of Bayverse Optimus as not bloodthirsty, just less merciful. Brother has been betrayed twice, watched his best friends get rusted and melted alive, had to kill his master, seen eons of war, and died. I'm suprised this guy didn’t become Nemesis Prime earlier. Bayverse Prime has been shown to have been not just a Knight but also Megatron's brother with the comics implying they kinda always kept Cybertron safe with Optimus being Prime but Megatron was known as High Protector. Only for him to have been corrupted by Fallen.
When part 2 comes, they need to see Optimus’ reaction to finding them melting ratchet, as it probably help them understand more why Optimus wants a human dead. Not only killing ratchet but melting him down for metal.
And lets not forget others humans hunting them like animals and seeing how injured optimus is and all the autobots death even before aoe as many died horrifically and lockdown killing ratchet
