- Pro-Palestinian protests continue in the US. Several universities have turned to law enforcement authorities to break up gatherings. Several colleges have closed campuses, and hundreds of students have been arrested. Los Angeles police said on Thursday that 93 people had been arrested for trespassing at the University of Southern California (USC) amid protests over the mounting death toll in the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. The pro-Palestinian protest at USC was among the latest to take place at campuses across the United States that have seen confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement. The Israel-Hamas war was sparked by the Hamas-led terror attacks in southern Israel on October 7 that left around 1,200 people dead and saw 250 taken hostage. Since then, Israel has launched an expansive ground offensive throughout the Palestinian territory, which Hamas-led health authorities said has killed over 34,300 people, mainly women and children, and led to a humanitarian crisis.

It can be both. 99 percent protestors with right mind set does not mean 1% isn't dangerous. When task with between protection and protest, protection always wins because that is fundamental task of government. People also forget that laws stop at borders. If free speech stop at border, matters originating outside of borders doesn't necessarily grant you free speech just logically speaking. China has Great Firewall and nothing anybody can really say for a reason.

University administrators forget that they work for students. Instead, they treat universities like their own mini empires.
Not only for their students, but for the society and community too. It's a social contract that the increasing privatization destroys, when these public institutions instead of working for the public and common good work towards the interests of the private, which usually are bond to war and misery.

The PLO wanted the two state solution and was almost getting it, but the forces of evil kept 'offing' everyone who dared to support about it, even their own, such as Yatzhik Rabin. This was never about peace, always about war. Israel itself, if you look at it, it's nothing but an open air military base where Western powers can have influence in the region.
Israelis should leave all occupied territories and free all Palestinian hostages, till then nobody wants to listen to your Hamas story.

The number of civilians/combatants casualties 1-1.5 is a historical low. look up the statistics for urban warfare.

I think the questions are: Who is behind the growing US protests, what is their vested interests, and why are hundreds allowed to disrupt the free flow and education of 10s of thousands who attend each of these universities??? Perhaps, just perhaps part of this is what happens when there is a peaceful lull and those with not enough to do to occupy their time, and too much money, look for something to belong to. However, unlike media comparisons, this is nothing like the Viet Nam War, accept the hypocritical and political attention. JUST SAYING...

I love some of the comments in this thread. People point out how come these protesters aren't standing up for the plight of other countries. I agree. The world is a huge place with massive suffering everywhere. Why not protest for Haiti for example, or homelessness everywhere? I sure hope these young people do not end up in political power in the future because their priorities are disturbingly messed up.

Ben-Gurion had said from the start it was just a tactical deal, and the plan was slow annexation and creation of a “greater Israel” . There might be peace in the region right now if not for that(or at least a far less volatile situation). You cant ignore the continued breaking of international law annexing land, stealing homes.
