Was just talking to my fiancé how much I miss The Philippines and can’t wait to get back, remembered Greenhills and came across your channel. Good to see how things are at the moment too. New sub from me!
Just viewed this video and truly enjoyed it! Lots to see for shoppers. They are good fakes. A lot of those look so real that they could actually fool people (especially if you have no idea what to look for!).
Back in the 80's, the tiangge was held every December only. So you know Christmas is near when the tiangge was up. I don't know though when they decided to make it permanent. I miss the 80s Greenhills.
You've come to MY favorite shopping place in Metro Manila: good 'ol Greenhills Shopping Center. You could find almost anything you want there. And, yes, it's dizzying to get around. Best you get a map. My favorite purchases are the shoes, though. They're killer cheap .... and the quality is, actually, not bad. That place would be packing without COVID days. (And you can imagine the place right before and after Christmas.)
There was a time in the Philippines when 'Class A' meant the best of the bunch, the cream of the crop. Ever since tiangge sellers started selling knock-off Nokia cellphone accessories back in the 2000s, it became synonymous with cheap copies. Actually, the 'class A' items were the knockoffs that were/almost as good as the original, but then the vendors started tagging everything they sell as 'class A' so when the cellphone charger breaks, the buyer associates 'class A' with poor quality.
Hi Marshall! Thank you for the vid, I enjoyed that. I used to go to Greenhills for Xmas shopping since I worked nearby. Re: markets/ tiangge, there are similar markets in Hanoi & Saigon (Vietnam). However, you won't be able to vlog & ask prices as much unlike in PH, without buying their stuff. The advice to me was, if you go there (VN) but don't intend to buy, don't touch the product or interact much. If you touch it & interact w/ the sellers, they'll expect you to buy from their store. If you don't buy, they'll curse/ talk bad about you after you've left their store. Btw you now have better angles bcos you have a camera assistant! 👍🏼 Twas nice that a subscriber recognised you. You should have bought something from her store. 😉 Cheers & stay safe! 😊 🍺📸
@@marshallbuttersvlogs6880 yeah, some touts/ sellers in VN are much more aggressive. It was fun to visit there, pre pandemic. Food was great - I liked it more than TH food. You should visit there when things are better - fingers crossed! Cheers & take care. 😊

Exactly, no one knows what's real or not (whatever that means) or what factory it came from, what's the difference? A nice box or paper anyone can print? It seems like its how and where its sold and how much they can convince you to pay. All the real brand shops are here in Las Vegas, with security guards at every door now, and I'm sure its full price, but who knows where its even made.
Love the place! One of the 1st destinations I go to on arrival in Manila. Great fun and I have to say, even though you know they are fakes, the goods work! Very well.
