  • was replacing hydraulics for the soft top operation and could not figure out how to raise the roll bar with the hydraulic system disconnected.
    Reading the forums I found the answer, but have never seen the roll bar raised like this before.
    If you attempt this please be careful and proceed with caution.

    To put it down you need to have the hydraulic in working order so get those seals replaced then after reassembly and cycling the top a few times, press and hold the roll bar in up position for 10-15 seconds till you hear a click, the hydraulic pump will compress the internal locking spring allowing to drop back down again.

    Hello .
    I just want to thank you for taking time out and posting this video . Your video helped me tremendously.
    I'm just curious, how can you lower the rollbar manually by using this same technique? What color wires would be used in this procedure to lower the rollbar? I want to start replacing my cylinder seals and would like to know how to lower it manually, just in case I need to. I want to drive the car as I am replacing the seals because I believe it will take a while to replace them.
    Sincerely , thank you again for this great video.

      Glad it worked out. I was worried when I did it. Didn't know if it would work or not.
      I have no idea if the roll bar car be lowered manually. The springs that are in it have a lot of force. The only way I could lower the roll bar was after I repaired the hydraulic system.
      I just couldn't finish the repair until I raised the roll bar and got access to the remaining cylinders.

    that was very informative. I hope it doesn't set any codes after deployment that way. if it does do you have a solution.

    Adam, Thanks for posting this video! I am in the process of needing to replace all my cylinders. I need the roll bar up too. I have several questions for you. How did you get to the connector if the roll bar was down. Can the interior panel still be moved out of the way enough to get to the connector? also, can you tell me where your power source came from? Did you use the car battery? What type of clip did you use to get to connect to power? Thanks in advance!

    • @adampresnall5521
      @adampresnall5521  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Tim. Sorry for the delay. hopefully, you figured out the process. It seems that I had to remove the entire trim piece that covered the vertical pilar where the plug was located. All of the trim needs to be removed to get to the cylinders. So, I assume that you got that far. I just used the battery as a power source and I attached a wire to the positive side of the battery and closed the circuit by touching it to the plug and bam it raised the roll bar.

    • @timcoleman5789
      @timcoleman5789 3 роки тому

      Adam Presnall Thanks for the reply! I was able to loosen enough of the trim panel to locate the X23 connector. I connected battery jumper cables to the battery and used it as my source. I followed your instructions for brown to ground and red/blue to positive. I must say it didn’t take very much power for the roll bar to come up “quickly”. Boy does it come up fast. It sure helps to have the roll bar up to remove the trim panels to gain the needed access to the main cylinders. Thanks again for posting up this video! It worked like a charm.

      @@timcoleman5789 Glad it worked for you. I don't know how you would be able to get to the main cylinders to replace them without the rollbar being raised. Now, you will get to have even more fun swapping the cylinders. Good luck!

    Yeah, but how do you retract it? Mine is stuck in the up position.When I hit the switch there is no response both for the rollbar and softtop. It is just dead no noise the button just blinks .

    What voltage did you use on your power supply wire. Looks like its a extension cord wire. Did you have it hooked up to outlet or straight from battery?? I know outlet 120v and battery 12v. But just wondering. Couldnt really see where you had it connected.

    • @adampresnall5521
      @adampresnall5521  3 роки тому

      It does look like some piece of romex, but it was just some large guage wire that I had. It was directly connected to the battery.
      It doesn't take much amperage to trip the circuit. Be ready when it closes the circuit and the springs release. It will scare the shxt out of you.
      Good Luck

    well that was intersesting , seems like the 'emergency' deployement trigger, did you figure out how the lower ?

    • @adampresnall5521
      @adampresnall5521  5 років тому +2

      I had to raise it to fix the hydraulics. So once they were all in and actuating correctly (air bled out) I was able to lower the bar via the switch. It did make a pop when it went down, I assume it was from the springs being reset. Was happy there was no major issue.

    You forgot to mention to make sure there are no living creatures anywhere near the rollbar when you put power to those wires. You obviously triggered the rollover connection and not the normal switch connection. As you can see, They have two distinctly different deployment speeds

      Ted you are right. I would suggest a clean pair of pants and underwear also. It will scare the shXt out of you, if you do it. A LOT OF FORCE.
      I had to use the spring deployment because I had the hydraulic system apart to rebuild. Could not get to the last 2 cylinders with out the bar being up. Only one way to do it. Was not my first choice.

      Valery. There are a couple of methods to trick the roll bar into raising. But, it will go up because it thinks the car might be flipping over. So, the reaction of the roll bar is pretty intense. Be carefull. I found all of my information here:
