Great info on how to take apart the innards on this model! I've worked on a ton of Macintosh auto inject floppy drive, but hadn't disassembled a manual inject model as it wasn't very clear how to do so. Of course, there's a number of different models, but this'll no doubt be helpful 👍 I'd recommend adding some info about how this is for Macintosh manual inject floppy drives to your video's description to hopefully make this easier for folks to find. Another one saved!
yeah i tried doing some similar with with one of my 1.44 drives, but didnt really get it working reliably, There is a tool for DOS that helps with the alignment, where it makes beeper sounds as you zero in. One other thing i thought of that you didnt mention was using alcohol on a cleaning disk or qtip to clean the heads. Maybe you did this before the teardown?
Cool, I'd never heard of an alignment program like that! Going to have to look around for something like that. Turns out, if you undo the two screws holding the rail down for the head you can just slide the other side of the head carriage out and not even have to touch the stepper too.
This was really helpful. I have several PowerMac's with dusty floppy drives.

Nice! I'll edit the video info to include that. I am not super familiar with the different types of drives Apple had.
