I love my thrudark engagement jacket, I can’t wear more than a base layer under it as it’s that warm. As you say the quality and the build quality is 2nd to none.. Yes it’s pricey but as owners I think we know why.
£300 buck-a-roos....... She's at the upper-end of my hard-earned. I'm seeing Thrudark pushing hard recently into social media influencers and Youtoob outdoor types. I think it's gonna be a hard sell for them, it's pricey gear, on a par with Fjallraven. This outdoor space is fast becoming a 'fashion' ting......... innit.
Not really. It’s about whether it performs or not for me. I’ve had a Rab neutrino jacket for 8 years now. Cost me a lot but I’ve had 8 years out of it. This Thrudark influx is due partly to the SAS lads promoting it. But it’s been around years. And it’s still performing. As for becoming a fashion thing. Just look at north face. Etc. I’m genuinely impressed with this coat. See my last video -5 wind chill I was stood out with just a t shirt underneath. That’s down jacket performance in a synthetic 🤷♂️ pricey but I reckon you get what you pay for.
I think the founders are 2 SBS lads. Aye, fair point..... I'd just had an argument with my Mrs about what was for tea, so mebees was on a bit of a Debbie-Downer. I don't like liver & onions on a Wednesday. ATB@rdle
@@totomesch1940 no it’s ok to say that. I was sceptical about the quality. But my mind was blown. Also the “poser” side of it. But it’s no different to wearing army trousers or arcteryx stuff. If you want to look smart it’s fine. I’ll wear this out me I’m hoping it’ll be ok for the cooler spring/summer months too
A company I have never heard of before but looks a canny jacket and I absolutely love an inside pocket, as well as proper good zips. My favourite Down jacket is my Tog 24, which beats my Rab Down jacket, despite is having no zipped pockets, which I think is a must when you have slippery material like that, so good to see this jacket has all zipped pockets. If I could improve on it I would have loved to have had a zipped chest pocket as well and an XL would be perfect for me too. There are different warmth's on the Down jackets with their fill but if that is warmer than a down jacket it must be the business. Not cheap, especially for a poor OAP like me but like you say, if you want quality you have to pay for it! Cheers Alan
I believe that if you spend the cash you’ll not need to again for years. Been proved right with my gear especially the Rab coat. I went on the website to buy another top. Out of stock 😂 typical. Pockets are essential I reckon. I’m always carrying something 😂 Atb mate. 👍
Order and returned. Have the recoil and engage jacket. But returned this as they have missed the trick. The cuffs are loose and not elasticated so loses warmth. Come on Thrudark let’s not lose lose quality over quantity
The cuffs on the Ithax aren’t tight nor do they have Velcro fasteners. But the elasticated bit is ok. I never felt any draughts. Email them with your points raised. It’s the only way it’ll improve 👍
There’s been a sudden increase in ‘unbiased’ reviews of equipment provided for free (with the usual disclaimer). It is not going to end well , trust will be lost.
I’m under no obligation to sing its praises. Just an honest review. It’s never been off my back since I got it. I’m trying to find faults. But so far none. I’ll keep using it as well. For instance last Saturday in the deep snow and blizzard. It kept me warm. That videos out tonight. I’ve done my review so now it is all about longevity.
All the top brands have expensive gear nowadays. What ThruDark dont do is just stick their badge on existing designs. All their gear is designed in house and tested throughly by people who know how to push themselves and the kit to the limit. Tier 1 company.
I love thrudark and n ive bought a few things from there,it's a very good company n the fleece I bought from there is the best item of clothing I've ever bought tbh
I’m surprised. Pleasantly. I thought it would be over hyped and over priced but it’s pure quality. My mate Chris has a jacket from them too and I want it 😂
Got a few of their bits and quality is second to none. Less fraying of stitches than my Rab coats…you should look at the Phalanx fleece it’s a superb piece of kit. Wore mine camping in December and didn’t even need my down coat on
Yeah it’s definitely top quality. I first looked at the phalanx it was always out of stock. I may use my own discount code and get some more. It’ll last me. Unfortunately I don’t get it all free 😂
I got their siege base layer in a sale.its my go to layer on every hike and camp.really well made and well designed.i looked at other thrudark kit and reviews are very good.all made in Europe but still at the high end of price for me until the next sale😅
Great review of what looks like a really good coat. I wish I could afford one. Suppose I can save up 😂😂. -5 and you’re only in a t shirt is impressive. I like the look of the whole range. Something different from the usual outdoor gear. Nicely done. I’ll keep watching see how you get on with it.
I am 'sitting on the fence' as to whether I buy a Thrudark down jacket. But what Thrudark never seem to do on their specification lists is the weight of the jackets. All other manufacturers and reviews of other jackets mention the weight as if it is one of the most important features of any jacket. So is Thrudark all 'Style over substance', not to mention very high prices?
To me the weight of a down jacket doesn’t matter. It’ll be light whatever. Down always packs away small too. The Thrudark range isn’t cheap. But if you read the reviews on the website it speaks volumes. The quality of this Ithax is the best I’ve seen. Worth every penny imo. So much so I’m trying to order the engage coat. Using my own discount code hopefully 😂 it’s out of stock though.
Thanks Andy, that's all I need to know. I do not mind paying the money for anything as long as its high price is justified. There seems to be a lack of any reviews on line, especially amongst the usual Outdoor or backpacking sites. I's all Rab, Mountain Equipment .etc. Never any Thrudark amongst the group tests. So when the jacket I am thinking of, the Patriot at £595, this is putting me off. Also, I just missed out on a discount code by a few minutes that would have saved me 10%.@@AndyWardle
@@raymondsmith7902 there should be a code in my description. No no reviews as I think people don’t associate TD with the Wildcamping hiking. They’re wrong. It’s perfect 👌
