A really heart warming interview. Anne was justified in feeling angry when she was left out of the tour however it is so pleasing to see all the sisters friends again. Anne is lovely and RIP Bernie you are missed.
I grew up Nolan Sisters era .Good Working Class Girls who could perform live without voice filters Bernie could sing & Sisters harmonies were top drawer even Choreography timing was robotic like Interviews are hilarious always banter amongst one another Surprised never cracked America think had to do with Industry at that period .Bernie begin sing Dance Floors would fill every women became a Nolan lol. Music holds so many precious memories of loved ones now sadly not with us . For me & my generation Nolan Sisters earned their crafts stripes Came up performing in many tough & rough Social Clubs to become a National Treasure
Annes voice was another depth to the Nolan sound. Watch any video with her in the group and pick out her harmony part. So sad that they fell out and that Bernie lost her battle with that evil disease. I lost my eldest sister to cancer too. I saw the Nolans perform live and have a photo of Bernie waving to me. I still enjoy their music today.
She was sexually abused by her father throughout her childhood, and shunned by her sisters when it became public. I can't even imagine how devastated she feels.
I haven't seen my mother, uncles, aunt, cousins. Nobody has contacted me for 7 years and never will again. They don't talk to each other so I can appreciate how short life is.
I am 48 so do remember Miss Ann & Miss Denise. I also have survived abuse. Not familial in this case. I always send a lot of love & respect to both of these wonderful Lady's/ YES we might have to give space to our blood family while we heal. Take care Lady's xxx.
Anne should have been involved in that tour, at the time if I were going I would have felt short changed if Anne wasn’t there, she was always in the group.
God bless Anne, AFTER all, she went through with the passing of Bernie. Linda then got cancer and beat it and then later on so many years later Linda had a second bout of the vile disease that is cancer and now she has had it and survived! God, bless the Nolan sisters and what they have had to endure!

They were amazing and i underst and sisters and their feuds having 4 myself. But we lost our youngest she was only 34yrs old. its a wake up call and should bring siblings closer. However differences wil always be we should just rise above it and keep loving each other no matter what.
Why did they go ahead with the tour without their beloved sister??? If it was because of the record company then they should've all made a stand and said it's all of us or none of us. All these successful pop groups fall out for one reason or another even when their family why??? This group should have stuck together through thick and thin, of course Anne should have been on tour with the rest of them.
I would have been angry if my sisters left me out of the tour, I would have turned the tour down and said we all come as a package if my sister cant go neither am I....I'm happy they are all reunited now. RIP Bernie gone to soon.

The only one who was always in the group was Maureen. Anne left the group for two years from 1980 to 1982, around the time she had her first child, and the line-up was Bernie, Coleen, Linda & Maureen. The (not very good) reason Coleen gave for Anne not being included, was that the tour organisers wanted the four who were in the group when they were at their most successful (especially in Japan). A reason that is confirmed by Bernie in her book. Take at look on youtube at the music videos of "Gotta Pull Myself Together", "Who's Gonna Rock You", "Attention to Me", "Chemistry", "Don't Love Me Too Hard" & "Sexy Music", none of which include Anne. It's wrong to say Denise wanted to be included, she didn't, she left in 1978 before the chart success & at the time of the reunion in 2009, she explained on her own website that the reason she was upset was because of the exclusion of Anne (also confirmed by Bernie's book). In her book, Bernie does say that Anne should have been included in the tour, and I agree with you that the fact Coleen was not speaking to Anne was probably the main reason for Anne's exclusion.

Coleen, being the youngest wanted all eyes on herself like she had as the little kid who looked like a boy in a dress. She has grown up craving that same attention and the smaller the group, the more eyes on her. The best voice of all the sisters is Denise and even Bernadette said so when Denise left. Bernie could holler out the pop songs but the classics were always perfected by Denise.

I’m with you 100% For her family to turn on her in such a way was dreadful. She needed them, as the closest people to her, to understand and most of all believe her. I’ve always thought the girls with their dark hair and eyes actually resemble Maureen snr so if she did have an affair, and daughters without the prominent dark hair/eye genes, the man I expect would have to have very strong blond/blue eye genes.
Many child abusers chose just one in a family to isolate them and make them feel loved and special "grooming them" there is power in numbers so just one in a large family is not surprising. Another thing is they felt how could this have been happening and no one saw or heard anything, they are like thief's in the night and very clever to get what they want.

I personally believe the feud between Coleen and Anne was for a reason I’ve long had my suspicions about but never had any proof. Anne as the eldest was abused by their father Tommy Nolab throughout her childhood and teenage years and when she put it in her book , her sisters turned against her, being quite evil rather than sympathetic. They all say he did not abuse them but I’ve strongly believed that Coleen was also abused. She has never admitted it so this is pure speculation but she spent much more time back in Blackpool with her precious pony when Tommy was also back in Blackpool and Coleen either stayed at home with her dad and brothers or with her Aunt when dad was away. I believe from Coleen own behaviour that she also suffered at his hands but she is in denial, so much so that she sided with her bullying sisters turning against Anne rather than putting up her hand and saying “me too”. I feel if she was asked outright that she would break down and tell all. I think she has built a wall up.
If the sisters had a shred of decency, knowing what the record company were going to make of their backs, they would have given the ultimatum “All of us, or none of us” but they were too self absorbed to think of them as one whole group. As for Bernie’s voice. IMHO Denise has the finer voice. Bernie was fine with the cheesy pop but Denise was far better with the classics.
My mother drove a wedge between my beloved dad and me at a time when he wasn’t himself due to having lesions on his brain. My dad called me one day and had a go at me, totally out of character and based on something twisted my mother told him. I never spoke to him again and he died. My mother or sister didn’t tell me until 3 days later I got an ansafone msg from my sister saying ‘dad is dead’. I was bedridden at the time and unable to attend his funeral but I grieved at home and planted an apple tree in his memory which helps my kids, now adults, as they’d have ‘one of grandads apples’. My mother sent me a cruel email via my son, saying that she pitied my partner and my ‘demands’ of him. She also said my dad wasn’t my dad and a ‘notice you didn’t bother with the funeral’ despite my being disabled and ill for all of my adult life! I flipped out. My dad and I had been close and she had always hated it. She had always been a very distant mother and I recall no affection from my childhood or seeing any towards my sister even tho my sister and her are two peas in a pod. Mother used to beat me with garden canes and I never told my dad because she would have made up a lie as to the reason she had lost her rag. So I cut both her and my sister out of my life. My partner was furious and said I don’t make any demands. He is my carer but we are so close and happy there are no demands. My son was left confused as to who his grandad is although I’m pretty certain she was lying as my middle son has his mannerisms. It’s now coming up to 8 years since my lovely dad died, I still miss him so much especially when I see something and think “I must tell dad” and then I remember he’s no longer here. I will NEVER make up with my mother or sister. I think back to things they said and did over the years that I dismissed at the time but see differently now. The way my mother sneered at people she deemed to be of lower class than herself, saying she married beneath herself as she was the daughter of a wealthy landowner and businessman and yet married the son of a coal miner. My partner/now husband was so cross because he too is the son of a pit man and he said to me “I’d like to have seen her in her mansion without any coal in wintertime” and he’s absolutely spot on. She’s a toxic woman. My lovely dad used to call her hyacinth bucket but she is like a very poisonous evil version. You can choose partners and friends but cannot choose your family. I am thankfully NOTHING like my mother or sister but moreso like my dad who was a wonderful chap who could fit in with anyone, no matter what class whereas vile mother had no friends as she sneered at others. She will be 78 now and I already have ‘Ding Dong the witch is dead’ on my phone ready to set as a ring tone when she finally expires, and I want nothing from her. I’d have liked my lovely dads watch or perhaps his pipes but I have only my memories but they’re lovely happy ones apart from the last phone call.
SO THE LESSON TO BE TAKEN FROM THIS IS , When the record company or those that are calling the shots and saying we don't want her on the tour, then all of the sisters should have said we all tour or none of us tour. Put the record companies in their place.. Family comes first, not the company.

I have not spoken to my sister for around 12 years now. She does not like me and I do not like her. We are different people and just because we are sisters does not mean we have to like each other. Coleen has said she won't ever be friends with Anne but can be in the same room as her. It was nasty to leave Anne out of the tour, that was mean. Bernie was my favourite

Such tragic circumstances The Nolan Sisters who earned their place into my generations hearts .Really were the Beautiful Girls from Next Door True working class girls who grafted who earned their crafts stripes by performing the circuit The rough,tough world off Social Club scene Nights were tables ,chairs and deadly K.O weapon of choice old toughened glass ashtrays all airborne missiles sisters ducked ,dived like true professionals & father from the side shouting keep singing .Possibly were famous choreography was learned "table side to left Chair side to the right Ashtray duck & cover .Amazing they made up & put everything aside to be a family for Bernie .Families call out but when tragically comes fueds are put aside family is priority . I personally believe the feud between Coleen and Anne was for a reason I’ve long had my suspicions about but never had any proof. Anne as the eldest was abused by their father Tommy Nolab throughout her childhood and teenage years and when she put it in her book , her sisters turned against her, being quite evil rather than sympathetic. They all say he did not abuse them but I’ve strongly believed that Coleen was also abused. She has never admitted it so this is pure speculation but she spent much more time back in Blackpool with her precious pony when Tommy was also back in Blackpool and Coleen either stayed at home with her dad and brothers or with her Aunt when dad was away. I believe from Coleen own behaviour that she also suffered at his hands but she is in denial, so much so that she sided with her bullying sisters turning against Anne rather than putting up her hand and saying “me too”. I feel if she was asked outright that she would break down and tell all. I think she has built a wall up.
If the sisters had a shred of decency, knowing what the record company were going to make of their backs, they would have given the ultimatum “All of us, or none of us” but they were too self absorbed to think of them as one whole group. As for Bernie’s voice. IMHO Denise has the finer voice. Bernie was fine with the cheesy pop but Denise was far better with the classics.

My mother drove a wedge between my beloved dad and me at a time when he wasn’t himself due to having lesions on his brain. My dad called me one day and had a go at me, totally out of character and based on something twisted my mother told him. I never spoke to him again and he died. My mother or sister didn’t tell me until 3 days later I got an ansafone msg from my sister saying ‘dad is dead’. I was bedridden at the time and unable to attend his funeral but I grieved at home and planted an apple tree in his memory which helps my kids, now adults, as they’d have ‘one of grandads apples’. My mother sent me a cruel email via my son, saying that she pitied my partner and my ‘demands’ of him. She also said my dad wasn’t my dad and a ‘notice you didn’t bother with the funeral’ despite my being disabled and ill for all of my adult life! I flipped out. My dad and I had been close and she had always hated it. She had always been a very distant mother and I recall no affection from my childhood or seeing any towards my sister even tho my sister and her are two peas in a pod. Mother used to beat me with garden canes and I never told my dad because she would have made up a lie as to the reason she had lost her rag. So I cut both her and my sister out of my life. My partner was furious and said I don’t make any demands. He is my carer but we are so close and happy there are no demands. My son was left confused as to who his grandad is although I’m pretty certain she was lying as my middle son has his mannerisms. It’s now coming up to 8 years since my lovely dad died, I still miss him so much especially when I see something and think “I must tell dad” and then I remember he’s no longer here. I will NEVER make up with my mother or sister. I think back to things they said and did over the years that I dismissed at the time but see differently now. The way my mother sneered at people she deemed to be of lower class than herself, saying she married beneath herself as she was the daughter of a wealthy landowner and businessman and yet married the son of a coal miner. My partner/now husband was so cross because he too is the son of a pit man and he said to me “I’d like to have seen her in her mansion without any coal in wintertime” and he’s absolutely spot on. She’s a toxic woman. My lovely dad used to call her hyacinth bucket but she is like a very poisonous evil version. You can choose partners and friends but cannot choose your family. I am thankfully NOTHING like my mother or sister but moreso like my dad who was a wonderful chap who could fit in with anyone, no matter what class whereas vile mother had no friends as she sneered at others. She will be 78 now and I already have ‘Ding Dong the witch is dead’ on my phone ready to set as a ring tone when she finally expires, and I want nothing from her. I’d have liked my lovely dads watch or perhaps his pipes but I have only my memories but they’re lovely happy ones apart from the last phone call.

SO THE LESSON TO BE TAKEN FROM THIS IS , When the record company or those that are calling the shots and saying we don't want her on the tour, then all of the sisters should have said we all tour or none of us tour.
Put the record companies in their place.. Family comes first, not the company.

I would guess that for cost reasons the label didn't want any more than four members, and Bernie, Coleen, Maureen and Linda had the highest profiles.

I have not spoken to my sister for around 12 years now. She does not like me and I do not like her. We are different people and just because we are sisters does not mean we have to like each other. Coleen has said she won't ever be friends with Anne but can be in the same room as her. It was nasty to leave Anne out of the tour, that was mean. Bernie was my favourite
They have sorted out their differences and have patched things up.
I have not seen my daughter in 10 years or even seen my grandson so i no the pain of family's falling out.

ive heard that she wasnt on the tour cause she looked old, now this is in 2013 four years after the tour and 4 me i think she looks good 4 her age,she probably would of looked just as good as her sisters in 2009

Such tragic circumstances The Nolan Sisters who earned their place into my generations hearts .Really were the Beautiful Girls from Next Door True working class girls who grafted who earned their crafts stripes by performing the circuit The rough,tough world off Social Club scene Nights were tables ,chairs and deadly K.O weapon of choice old toughened glass ashtrays all airborne missiles sisters ducked ,dived like true professionals & father from the side shouting keep singing .Possibly were famous choreography was learned "table side to left Chair side to the right Ashtray duck & cover .Amazing they made up & put everything aside to be a family for Bernie .Families call out but when tragically comes fueds are put aside family is priority . One thing can imagine is during hey-day when performed on Top of Pops with vile cigar munching monster (friend of Royals) Savile for sure sisters watched him like a hawk with baby sister Coleen .Legends to this day I remenber family Butlins holiday ,family parties as soon Bernie sang I'm in the Mood for Dancing with fellow Nolan Sisters the dance floor ,living room floors filled with people in own singing ,dancing ,smiling mood Special memories created by special group of Working Class Girls from Next Door .Interviews with Nolans knew would be funny as sisters banter aimed at one another was hilarious Girls survived & could hold their own possibly as young siblings learned from the circuit esp in a sexist male dominated industry Nolan Sisters & Spice Girls big difference Nolan Sisters harmonies live sounded amazing ,was no modern voice filters Class act National Treasures RIP Sisters sadly who passed but can still fill dance floors ,guarenteed girlie night out anthem .
