Lian is a great guy. Bought my first records in Jakarta off him in 2009 and went back regularly for the next 9 years. Some of the sellers on Jl. Surabaya can be price gougers but he never took the piss and always had some Motown or Stax that he'd pull out when he saw me coming. My Bahasa was never good enough to have an in depth conversation with him but his love of good music always shone through, and I always got a kick out him getting a kick out of watching me going ham to something I liked. His shop is my first port of call when I go back for a visit. Dirgahayu Bapak Lian!
