Huawei P20 pro is my favourite phone of all time and it's the first Huawei flagship I've owned! And I've owned all the flagships (s9 plus, iPhone 8 plus, pixel 2 XL, OnePlus 6 and 6t and the Samsung note 8. I've actually owned 2 of these my last one smashed after 2 weeks from when I got it, I was so upset that I sold it for repairs and bought it again in twilight! First time I bought a phone twice like that. The thing I love about the phone is the design, the camera is so versatile and the battery is phenomenal won't be getting rid of this until the p30 pro or maybe the mate 30

Im thinking P20 Pro, i doubt that actual daily usage i would notice much difference between the two. So i prefer the look of the P20 pro and the cost difference is a significant consideration.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I personally think the Mate 20 Pro blows the P20 Pro out of the water. It's much more elegant and in general, a way better phone camera and feature wise than the P20 Pro. Just my opinion. :)
I don't like Mate 20 pro only because it's too fragile. I do like p20 pro because it's more durable and compact. Wide angle lens of Mate 20 pro is the only difference that matters. Small notch, fast finger print are pros of P20 pro. Mate 20 pro has many negligible pros too.

Good point. I'm still thinking about returning my P20 Pro and getting the Mate 20 Pro but the curved screen is a drawback for me. I broke two S9+ screen because it's hard to find a case that protects them properly
i hate the curved screen too but i got a s9 plus and a mate 20 pro and a p20 and the curved screen is annoying when watching from the edge but i like the look of it. by the way curved screen makes the phone less durable
Yes this confirmed my suspicion. I tested Mate 20 pro at local store and compare it side by side with P20 pro. The Mate stereo speaker sound a bit thinner somehow. The good thing it does not muffle much when the type-c port covered.
I am still confused and can't decide. Honestly, if a good lens case like Moment or Moondog happened for either phone, I would jump on whichever happened first. P20 Pro, use a damned gimbal for the 4K, duhhh. I don't get why everyone is complaining about that like its just unusable. I personally see the P20 pro having a sharper and less distorted jello image than the mate 20 pro, just lacks stabilization. So get a cheap dji gimbal and you are golden. The lack of quality lens attachments is killing me though. Imagine either of these with a really nice ultrawide or anamorphic lens on it. MMmmmm Indie film bliss. Fuck getting a G7, when I can get a P20 Pro and not have to deal with the bulk and expensive lenses. Plus it's literally a computer, capable of scratch editing, on the go workstation. So cool
Add the mate 20 pro features to p20 pro with improvements, we have p30 pro. I think p30 pro will be the best phone on the market on release. I'm overdue an upgrade because I was going to get s10 plus but I have to wait for p30 now. The leaked images look nice! Imo the back of the p20 pro looks nicer but the screen on mate 30 pro looks miles better, not even close in person. If the mate 20 pro had the small notch and p20 back it would be spot on. I imagine they know this and will make the next phone look quite amazing. I'm so glad a Chinese company has done so well with smartphones.

I don't have either however I believe from this video the mate is just a more defined p20. The only big difference is the design and a few features. The mate looks much nicer but it doesn't really compensate the £200-£300 price difference

Its more than enough for me. I haven't such a big difference of speed between the procesors. Also the camera its almost the same, I'm speaking about the image quality. I don't care about the in display fingerprint sensor. I only use face id. I don't see why companies use both of them. They should go with one ore the other. And btw the in dispaly fingerprint sensor is slow(for now). The dispaly is nice and I think thats why the price is high. thay had to use new technologies for it that cost. fair enough. Why did they make that UGLY square camera box? It's still three cameras. Why didn't they keep the p20 Pro design? Why didn't the same twilight colour hues? Why did they have to darken it?

I talked with some representatives of Huawei in Bulgaria about the new Mate 20 series and asked them about advice about a friend that is considering buys either P20 or Mate 20 (not the Pro version) and their answer was to buy a phone form the P series as Mate series if more an in-between devices and the build quality is , not bad, but somewhat test for the next generation of the P series. Overall I had the sens that Mate 20 is more or less a test bunny for P30.

I was so very tempted by the P20 Pro but the physical home button on the front bothered me to no end and I stayed away from it. I am honestly so glad I waited now, already pre-ordered the Mate 20 Pro :D
Facho7 tbh the home button is lit on the p20 pro.... U can take off the virtual navigation buttons and use the home button to go back, by tapping it once, u check your recent apps by swiping left or right.... And go home holding down the home button... Giving u more screen to play with... Trust me after using it I love that home button
One thing i was disappointed at, is the LED notification. It's very tiny and not as big and bright as Samsung's phones (my brother has a S7 Edge and it's better in my opinion) also, the vibrator on the P20 Pro (the phone i have) is... not good, you can't feel it in your pocket, or cannot hear it a lot ! Hi Linus, I am from the Philippines and I have been reading that several users from here as well as in different countries are experiencing the "Display Bleed Issue" on Mate 20 Pro and it seems to be more common in ones whose hardware touchscreen is LG versus BOE (when checked with Device HW app). What do you think about this? I have heard if Huawei has release an official statement on this, but I hope they do soon...

I was so very tempted by the P20 Pro but the physical home button on the front bothered me to no end and I stayed away from it. I am honestly so glad I waited now, already pre-ordered the Mate 20 Pro :D

Facho7 tbh the home button is lit on the p20 pro.... U can take off the virtual navigation buttons and use the home button to go back, by tapping it once, u check your recent apps by swiping left or right.... And go home holding down the home button... Giving u more screen to play with... Trust me after using it I love that home button

Not a bad phone, but after a while I missed the sheer quality of the iPhone as it's in a completely different league.
One thing i was disappointed at, is the LED notification. It's very tiny and not as big and bright as Samsung's phones (my brother has a S7 Edge and it's better in my opinion) also, the vibrator on the P20 Pro (the phone i have) is... not good, you can't feel it in your pocket, or cannot hear it a lot !

Hi Linus, I am from the Philippines and I have been reading that several users from here as well as in different countries are experiencing the "Display Bleed Issue" on Mate 20 Pro and it seems to be more common in ones whose hardware touchscreen is LG versus BOE (when checked with Device HW app). What do you think about this? I have heard if Huawei has release an official statement on this, but I hope they do soon...
Hey! Yes, I've heard about this issue. Thankfully, my unit is not affected by that! Hopefully, Huawei will replace the faulty units

I love the edge screen in mate 20 pro, but I hate the big notch. However, the power button in p20 pro and the space at its bottom also annoys me. Well, why am I saying this I cant even buy my own cellphone case lol
