If these companies have the money to go after piracy… then that means they have extra money… why not just charge people less, that would help lower the piracy rate.

Ads on a paused screen should be no bother to anybody at all. Because usually when the screen is paused, you are in the kitchen getting a snack or going to the bathroom. Or answering a phone call.
I don’t see piracy as a prison crime. I see it as a heavy fine crime. Why should TV signal pirates give 45 years of prison when murderers who take actual human life get only 20 years. Somebody needs to explain that to me.

I have an Nvidia Shield that has a play/pause, FF and RW buttons. When I pause something and a pause ad shows up immediately, it renders those buttons useless. On YT, if I want to skip forward or backwards, I have to have the video playing. If I want to pause and rewind while remaining paused and still keep it paused to look at whatever is on the screen in pause the whole time, I can't do that. I don't pay for live TV but if I did... I like to pause the news and rewind, yet again something I might not be able to do with my Nvidia shield if the FF, RW and play/pause buttons don't work in pause ad.

And piracy will always exist. Fighting it is a waste of time and money that can be used for improving your product and making your paying customers stay with you.
Piracy in the context of live tv, is a necessary evil to these companies, because nobody watches tv anymore. The only way you can get some eyeballs is if you give it out for free. So by going after the pirates, they're essentially shooting themselves in the foot.

I've been a Peacock subscriber from day one because of the Premier League coverage. I'm thrilled that they've added so much other sports content. But there are other great reasons to love it. As a film fanatic, I love getting those Universal movies (Oppenheimer, The Holdovers, etc.) in the first pay window. They have an excellent film library as well. Their original series have improved immensely in quality as well. Poker Face is one of the best series I've seen in a long time. Plus there's a lot of classic TV, including every episode of Saturday Night Live. They even recently added five seasons of Perry Mason.

But Antenna TV is an over-the-air channel, not a streaming service. The rights are different. With a handful of shows and even movies, streaming can be complicated. Question for Luke: My question is similar to what another subscriber asked. There are 2 TV shows that I have yet to see on any streaming platform; “The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd” and “Homicide: Life on the Streets”. These shows were originally broadcast on NBC/Lifetime and NBC respectively. I can’t see how music rights would hinder streaming these shows compared to any other. What would prevent NBC streaming these shows on their Peacock platform?

TV and radio rebroadcasting their own content on sister stations is fine except in certain situations. I have a local Fox station that owns the local CW as a primary channel and simulcasts all their news M-F. They will always simulcast any emergency alerts and the weather. I have a local 50s/60s/70s oldies hits radio station that simulcasts their signal on like 4 additional FM frequencies and I think 1 AM station. I don't have any problem with the Fox station simulcasting their news on the CW as the CW would just be playing reruns or other syndicated content anyways. I DO have a problem with the radio station taking up so many frequencies in my local radio market. My parents have a Fox station that is owned by the local CBS. That CBS station doesn't simulcast news for the Fox station but instead produces separate news broadcasts for the Fox time slots.

I don't think we need a rule to prevent re-airing content. We do need a rule that requires a refund for every day or fraction thereof which contains reaired content. In other words, at $20 per month, that is about $0.67 per day, so if 10 days have reaired content they would owe me about $6.67.

Just a thought, how about airing some old tv shows on UA-cam. As you know UA-cam owns a ton of music rights through UA-cam Music, so airing music on UA-cam is covered. I'm not sure why content owners don't setup UA-cam channels for older content. Mind you, their are some old tv shows on UA-cam in a very limited way but the potential is enormous and the studios just dont see whats right in front of them.

We don't want the intrusive ads (the ones that inject over static content on a HDMI connection or ads that inject over static content on other streaming apps) but regular ads on the home page are perfectly fine. That said, there is no way to remove any of them except to disconnect the TV from the internet and switch to something like the Chromecast + Google TV or Onn Google TV 4k or an Apple TV. These ads by Roku came about because they needed another way to make money. They lose money for every Roku box or Roku branded TV sold. The only money they actually make is from ad revenue and licensing the Roku OS (and licensing the Roku OS doesn't really make them all that much any more).
