How to double and triple viking knit tutorial

Are there 6 or 8 starting loops? Could the number of starting loops be increased as long as they number is even?

I use 5 loops most of the time, because that’s how I learned, but I think any amount, within reason, over 5 would work. Maybe 4? I wondered if the more hoops you used affected how narrow you could draw it out🤷‍♀️ Happy craftin! 🤘🎨
