The hair ruffle is Callum's go-to move when it comes to other people in any kind of emotional distress. It works on Ben, on Jay, on Bobby ... the only person it wouldn't work on is Phil, because it would end up being more of a weird scalp massage thing.
Firstly, I love the scene of Jay's stag party, where Phil and Billy are having this deep, intense conversation about finding Lola's mother ... while in the background, Ballum and Jay are doing who knows what. The other thing I love about these clips is that, you can just tell, in the last few months, Ben has just healed so much from the horrors of last year. Quiet jokes with Callum, the dance sequence at the reception, even laughing and giggling with Lola on the morning of the wedding ... these are things that he couldn't have done, this time last year. But he's in such a better place mentally now. Sure, he and Callum both still have issues which they'll need to keep working on in the future, but they've always been the best thing for each other, and we're seeing that. I also like how, in so many scenes, Callum has his hand on Ben's shoulder, or an arm around Ben's waist. He's always lightly pulling Ben close to keep him safe and protected. It's understandable, given everything they've been through, but it's just so sweet.
