Unreal cover. Won't ever get bored of hearing this
Thank you so much
That exhalation at the end is the sound of a man who is relieved he didn't break his E string, thereby blinding himself.
for a guy that plays his strings really rough, I've seen him break them just once or twice
Damn good mate. I came into this expecting some half-assed version of a classic. I was mistaken.
Damn good mate. Damn good
shivers..... every single time i hear this... shivers
Stillt oday we hope ?
I agree with creepycoyote, how could anyone hear the passion and energy coming out of Mr. Hansard and not be moved. Just amazing, he sets the artistic bar for all musicians to reach for.
How on earth does he keep that thing in tune. Crazy. So freaking amazing.
You can literally hear the holes enlarging in his guitar as he strums.
Viva the memory and mail of Van Morrison!
Thank you so much
Songs from Astral Weeks are incredible. What an album. He really did a great job with this cover.
Thank you so much
One of the most seriously underrated albums
Holy Shit, Glen Hansard.
Oh Yeah !!
I have no hesitation in regarding this rendition, as beautiful as the original.
He's got to open up his upper register, it sounds painful
The soul given in this performance is something that can be shared but not replicated. Thank you for giving yourself to such a beautiful song.
Thank you somuch
Very very few people can cover a mystic masterpiece like Astral Weeks, Glen is one... He understands the feel.
Thank you
This really is one of my favorite videos on UA-cam.
ho this is crazay, thank you so much
So amazing. I love it when that lady walks by in the background, turns to look and just keeps walking. Do you know how amazing it would be to just stumble upon this performance?!
Love that guitar, man. It's alive. Great job with this track.
Nice to see someone play with proper passion. Much love from oz. x
Bloody hard song to do justice to and you nailed it. The end 'phew' I could tell where you were at lol
That's what I call giving a good beaten up to a guitar....a well deserved one! Man, what a voice!
This is my all time favorite Glen Hansard video. 2:45-3:03 is just insane strumming!
Ho thank you so much !! so so much
He's strumming faster than the video camera can capture!
I didn’t think a compelling cover of astral weeks was possible
Thank you
I didnt think so either, gladly we've been both proven wrong 🙂
I was scared what I would find looking this up. Was not disappointed! 😍
just reminded me of the way young lovers do by jeff buckley i used to have on cassette. ill have to try and find it now
I just wanted to share that I have been imitating Glen on guitar ever since I first saw this video. Glen has taught me everything I know about strumming. This is by far one of my favourite covers AND acoustic performances ever and I must say thank you. ~ One day I will nail the song like he does!!!
The echo from his voice around the whole area. Wooo
You're right ! amazing
I wish he would release this on an album. I love it! he's my favorite singer-songwriter.
HOLY SHIT. Well done sir. Not only a deep cut but a fantastic job at it.
Thanks for your words
I swear I always get shivers when I hear that man.
Proud to be from belfast! Simply beautiful!
Thank you !
Can believe I saw him in Austin open for Eddie Vedder. The absolute best concert i've ever been too.
OH MY!💝
My body, mind and soul have been effected!
I thank you my brother.
Thank you, blessings to you and your artistry. 💎
🎼Van Morrison, 🦁, our lyrical god, gave us this beauitful gift of song.
🦋The first time I heard this song my life changed, that was about 2 months ago, perfect timing, im 45 years old and on my spiritual path, eyes wide open
AWAKE! and Ascending🆙️
Hearing this version for the first time this evening just has blasted me into the universe my light beams so bright 💫
I am sending out an abundance of love and gratitude to BOTH music men.
Thank you so very much
🎶MUSIC FOR THE SOUL💜
Thank you som uch
what a stroke and what skill to strum the guitar !
;-)
Simply AMAZING... I was SO sad when they took down the first vid of him covering this, but I gotta say this version is just a TOTAL joy to watch/hear. What amazing emotion he imparts and what great justice he does this song. Personaly, THIS is my favorite version of this song ever done.
Wow brilliant.
There are few words that do just what "this" is justice and astonishing is only JUST one of them... Amazing feel, voice and power. Love it. So amazing.
Thank you !
Glen is absolutely--one of the best singers and voices of this generation.
You're so right !
Belle intensité, quand l'âme toute entière se met à chanter , ...
C'est exactement cela !
Amazing performance...
Oh yeah! Wonderful. Visually and Acoustically.
Thanks for sharing the moment,
So much passion, he's managed to wear a hole in his guitar! Love it.
You can not be better. No.
Simply the best
;-)
tears in my eyes...
Oh! WOW! ❤
that man can chant, that man can sing and he strums those strings like a machine gun rings
This man is amazing !
Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
that was awesome. that song alone is one of my favorites. then Glen Hansard! amazing

Listening to this with a a few pints WOW!!
This is fantastic!
Brilliant !!!
Heard him in Vegas with Eddie Vedder, front row seats. It was awesome
what an artist.
You're right, incredible

Three years after a huge thank you
Incredible.
Amazing.
That's a top notch version of astral weeks.
wild and emotional. i enjoyed that a lot
Inspirational !!
awesome song@!
Gorgeous... I love it.
We love Glen !!
Holy Smokes. Bravo.
thank you
The fan man of the van nan❤
deep cut indeed cool cover
much love
Thank you !
Pure emotion…
Be great to see him and Willie Nelson do this on their battle weary guitars. Glen playing rhythm, Willie goin' into the stratosphere on lead....
Madre mía!! Sin palabras. Me encanta
Merci merci
Brilliant guitar.
Thanks great 👍 cover song cheers
Thank you
C'est excellent.
Merci
AWESOME
Awesome man
Ho yes
Tell it til you sell it, you curly-headed fire
this was recorded with a Zoom H4n and its internal mikes, of course there's always a better gear for an audio geek but for outdoor sessions and the pain already in my back it's a good compromise :)
Sounds great!
Holy smokes!!!!!
Thank you for watching our videos
Perfect
why would anyone vote hands down on this? IMHO Glen signs with more heart and soul than anyone else in the on UA-cam. If some one is better PLEASE tell me so I can watch them
Haha thank you Dorothy
very nice.
very good!
+Jonathan Asquith Thank you !
And all the strings are still there!!!!!!!!!!
WOW
Yes !!! haha
Good job
Thank you
about time. youtube is crammed with less than interesting van covers.
But not this one ;-)
@cuuliem yes it' indeed Astral Weeks the name of the song
When Glen asks to borrow your guitar, you tell him fk off.
haha :) totally fair but he's such a nice guy, if he ask, lend him that cheap epiphone you learned to play on , not your vintage gibson :)
Nice cover
Thank you
A very, very good guitar player and singer. He sure does give his guitar a work out. I'd have bought a Takamine with a pick guard.
D TheBassman I bought one 11 years ago but believe me it needs the pick guard.
And on a technical note he doesn't need to use the double strum every chord. That's why his Tak is fucked
On a technical note, he's known around the world, and we've never heard of you. Hmm....
;-)
Sei un grande
Oh oui ! Merci
been thinking about trayvon marting, snowden, and the boiling mess that is Syria, Egypt and the middle East. Man this song soothes the savage beast
bravo cher ami
can't get enough if him..
You have a lot of videos from him on our channel....
Dare I say it? Better than Van Morrison himself! Incredible as always.
Thank you !!
Not even close. But it's a great cover
@swellframe thanks for the correction
This song is extremely similar to ''I love you but goodbye'' song by Langhorne Slim!
thank god.
You welcome ;-) Thank you !
AMEN.
I've broken so many strings playing glen hansard songs.....are his strings made of iron cables
+Justin hateswasp that makes 2 of us, plus dont forget snapping your strings trying to tune the guitar for his different tuning settings in everysong aswell
the way he plays kinda explains why his guitar looks so fucked up though...
+eşeğinz2 Glen's guitar does not look fuckt up to me! it looks well played:D a sign of a busker. The guitar is called the horse btw!
+Justin hateswasp Try 'elixer' bronze wound, they last for ages!
I have the same issue, and it's costing me out the ass. Then again, you and I may have a problem in our stringing technique. Are your strings breaking at the machine head? Mine are and I believe that's a sign of poor stringing methods.
That guitar looks damn good. I love the "well-worn" look.
Fuck me, thats's a brilliant cover....
You're so right
This man must have a high consumption of guitar strings.
from our past experiences with him so far one string per live show :)
Watch Dog. A high consumption of guitars more like. He’s only had that one for a week!!!
Wow
Merci
Holy Strummer :O
Thank you
Sultans of swing solo is easier than his strumming
Haha thank you for this comment.
Could probably agree with you there mate it’s certainly up there I love the album astral week masterpiece by van and this cover wow man I’m from up in the north east of England 🏴 only 22 years of age been brought up on all this stuff by me dad couldn’t thank the bloke enough
I can't keep up with the solo of Sultans of Swing.
On Guitar Hero.
On normal difficulty.
i realize I'm kinda off topic but does anybody know of a good site to watch new series online ?
@Josue Andy flixportal :D
Can somebody explain how can hang on to his pick?
