Rhonda's judo throw takedown was textbook perfect. It's clear after watching her fight that her striking lacked power and her defensive skills were not up to the level of tough girls like Holm and Nunes.
Yep, that's when the flood of female fighters came to UFC after Ronda got women's UFC mainstream....she just couldn't keep up with the class of fighters that showed up. Still impressed with her career.

Zingano is very underrated IMO. Before she lost to Ronda, she was undefeated and had just beaten Raquel Pennington, Miesha Tate, and Amanda Nunes consecutively.
If you think about it, it's interesting that every fight between these 4 of the best WBantamweight in that time: Nunes, Holm, Rousey, Tate all ended with finishes.

That’s one of my top two moments of all time watching mma and I’ve been watching since I had to rent the ufc on vhs from Blockbuster because I couldn’t afford the ppv so since ufc 1. My other favourite moment was watching Royce finish Shamrock.

Unfortunately for Rousey, that fight didn't just end her undefeated streak and championship reign. It also exposed one big hole in her gameplan: Ronda needs to get to a head and arm clinch to set up her judo throws. That's the main if not the only way she takes her opponents to the ground. She never shoots for takedowns, because her knees are in too bad a shape. Holm's coaches saw that, and Nunes took notes. Both neutralized every single attempt of Ronda to get to the clinch, while picking her apart with strikes.

I was in middle school I think when Rousey vs. Holm happened. I never have heard much news about MMA... ever But Rousey losing by head kick to Holm was SUCH a big moment. Rousey was just unstoppable up until then. It pretty much marked the end for her.

Props to Cat Zingano for putting on a bit of a seminar with those takedowns against Amanda Nunes. This is her biggest UFC highlight. Zingano's best attribute was her physical toughness, her ability to absorb lots of punishment. Unfortunately for Cat, her best attribute proved to take a toll on her physical health. Cat has openly talked about the brain damage she suffers from. She specifically said that her fight against Amanda Nunes is the one that actually caused her the damage. Cat came out a winner against Amanda, in the fight stats, but not in regards to her physical health. :(
I wish she could have stayed healthy and got the belt. Imagine a fight between her and Amanda a little later in their careers. But not only the brain injury but the suicide of her fiance around the same time really derailed her career.

Cat Zingano is probably the greatest UFC Women's Bantamweight to never win the title. I still believe that Ronda Rousey could have retired undefeated if she had not tried to be a boxer. She was so good at armbars that she was nicked-named "The Arm Collector." Boxing was such a career ender for her.
I belive she Ronda could easly beat Nunes, if only her good for nothing "coach" didn't encourage her to turn into a boxer. And, let's face it, Ronda has zero to none boxing skill. On the other hand, she was amazing at takedowns, far better than Nunes or Holms.

Even at her peak Ronda was disorganized with her boxing attack. He really never planted herself, bit instead threw lots of punches. It took a boxer (Holmes) to expose that major weakness.

It is a shame, I had high hopes for Ronda when she entered UFC, however she was a disappointment once someone hit her directly in her face, and that proved to be true and was her downfall. One of the facts of her "training" that came out after she retired was how none of her sparring partners were allowed to hit her in the face; even with headgear on. Not prepping your body during training to both take and dodge headshots was a recipe for disaster. We saw how well that panned out against Holm and Nunes.

She had one skill and she faced mma females who were not good as female UFC fighter is today. Ronda was hyped up to make every one thing she was better then she was. If Dana had bought in Cyborg into the UFC Ronda would have been beaten earlier then she was.

Props to Cat Zingano for putting on a bit of a seminar with those takedowns against Amanda Nunes. This is her biggest UFC highlight. Zingano's best attribute was her physical toughness, her ability to absorb lots of punishment. Unfortunately for Cat, her best attribute proved to take a toll on her physical health. Cat has openly talked about the brain damage she suffers from. She specifically said that her fight against Amanda Nunes is the one that actually caused her the damage. Cat came out a winner against Amanda, in the fight stats, but not in regards to her physical health. :(
I wish she could have stayed healthy and got the belt. Imagine a fight between her and Amanda a little later in their careers. But not only the brain injury but the suicide of her fiance around the same time really derailed her career.
Concussions have far more dire consequences for women than they do for men. It is shameful we allow this.

At the 2:25 mark, Cathilee Deborah (Cat) Zingano rag-dolled Amanda Nunes all over the octagon. Those two head-over-heels throws were phenomenal. Cat Zingano is probably the greatest UFC Women's Bantamweight to never win the title. I still believe that Ronda Rousey could have retired undefeated if she had not tried to be a boxer. She was so good at armbars that she was nicked-named "The Arm Collector." Boxing was such a career ender for her.
I belive she Ronda could easly beat Nunes, if only her good for nothing "coach" didn't encourage her to turn into a boxer. And, let's face it, Ronda has zero to none boxing skill. On the other hand, she was amazing at takedowns, far better than Nunes or Holms.

Rousey was protected, the one time she fought a striker she got her ass handed to her.
Even at her peak Ronda was disorganized with her boxing attack. He really never planted herself, bit instead threw lots of punches. It took a boxer (Holmes) to expose that major weakness.

It is a shame, I had high hopes for Ronda when she entered UFC, however she was a disappointment once someone hit her directly in her face, and that proved to be true and was her downfall. Furthermore, once Holly Holm kicker her butt, that was the end of Ronda.

One of the facts of her "training" that came out after she retired was how none of her sparring partners were allowed to hit her in the face; even with headgear on. Not prepping your body during training to both take and dodge headshots was a recipe for disaster. We saw how well that panned out against Holm and Nunes.
