There is nothing better than marching behind a pipe band ( which I have done on numerous occasions ). It makes you march tall with your chest out and a wee swagger in your step and it makes you awfully proud to be Scottish.

A lot of my ancestors came from Scotland, we've been in America since the early 1700s. I am that far removed from that part of my heritage, yet every time I hear the pipes, something wakes up way down deep in my soul and starts moving around.
Years ago at the Detroit Auto Show right out of now where by the new Buicks a Pipe and Drum Line came straight through the COBO Hall at full song just tearing the air with the sound. It was Amazing and Moving. I loved it, Made me proud to be a human.

The Navy Mess Dress Uniform was one of my favorites. I wore it very few times but enjoyed it when I wore it... The groom is a Navy Lieutenant (O-3) and equal to an Army of Air Force Captain) and wears two gold stripes. I was a Navy Master Chief Petty Officer - My rating badge was gold and I had eight gold hashmarks when I retired. Of course, any enlisted is junior to any officer but, that was lots of gold up and down my left arm.
My Scottish founded town in south-western Ontario has the pipeband march down the mainstreet in the summer every Saturday night (pre-covid of course) Once the band goes by everyone walks behind them, it's amazing. Then once a summer it's mass-pipeband march where 7-8 different bands come to town for the march...... goosebumps are a-plenty when you hear 50 pipers break into Scotland the Brave!
@@toddthompson7279 In Glasgow every year at the world pipe band championships , the grand finale and presentations take place with around 2000 pipers and drummers involved , its enough to stir the heart of every scot within miles and the sound is amazing. You should try and get here sometime, if you do I'll buy you a little whisky to celebrate

We have a friend , he is a piper, and he was playing at the 50 years anniversary of our wedding. It was fantastic and the guests dit like it very well. We live in The Netherlands and doing the Scottish Highland dances, Reels, Jigs and Strathpey.
FYI when the bride and groom take their first. It is THEIR first dance. Get off the dance floor, get your kids under control. It is a respect thing. Beautiful! Love It! The band is really great to interwind the bagpipes.

I used to go to "gatherings" in all the wee Scottish towns on Royal Deeside and, one year, I managed to go to an assembly of 1,000 pipers and drummers. It was about 9:00 a.m., it was cold and misty and it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand-up.
The bridegroom is a Lieutenant in the Irish Naval Service(INS). He would normally be based in Cobh, in Cork Pipers and drums are from the 28th Battalion of the Irish Army. The battalion is based in Ballyshannon in County Donegal.

That's the effect bagpipes have at times. As a 50 year old Scotsman, I'm not ashamed to admit my eyes filled with tears as well, and I don't even know this lovely couple. I think they chose the perfect song for it as well.

I thought the commands were in Irish and an Irish Defence Forces band ? The 28th is an Ulster battalion alright, based in Finner Camp, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal which is right beside Belleek Co. Fermanagh.
