I saw all of the Poffos wrestle back in the day in San Angelo, Texas. The Poffos were always wrestling against the Funk Brothers, Ricky Romero, The Super Destroyer, and a young Ted Dibiase! Awesome memories for a little boy that used to stay out late at night (Non-School Nights) with the grown-ups watching the wrestling matches. Heady stuff for sure. R.I.P. Lanny Poffo!

He was never known as a big partier like most of the guys from the '80s. He was never known as a big steroid abuser. He was very active later in his life, doing a lot of different interviews and going to conventions. He seemed like he was doing just fine.
We just never know when we're going to take our last breath

Lanny had been having chest pains off and on the last 3 months of his life. Unfortunately, Lanny believed in herbal treatments rather than going to the hospital over these things. I was fortunate to have some good with Lanny a few months before he passed.

Met Lanny at WM (wrestlecon) in 2018 i believe. Had a Macho hoodie and that caught his eye. He signed a few things I had and showed me the hof wwe ring he was wearing that was his bro's (Macho Man). I asked if i can take a pic of it. He said, "Even better... here try this on!". Awesome guy and you could tell he was real genuine with his fans. Always took time to interact and always willing to share stories of him and macho with no hesitation. I always remember him reciting poems and throwing frisbees to the crowd as a kid. Awesome dude! Rest easy my friend...

    Dear all,
I wanted to take a moment to express my sadness over the passing of Lanny Poffo, better known as "Leaping" Lanny and "The Genius" in the wrestling world. Lanny was a beloved and talented wrestler who entertained fans for many years with his in-ring work.
As Leaping Lanny, he was known for his impressive athletic abilities and high-flying moves. He was always a crowd-pleaser, and his signature leapfrog move was a staple of his performances. I thoroughly enjoyed watching him perform in the ring, and his athleticism was truly a joy to behold.
But what made Lanny truly unique was his portrayal of "The Genius," a character that was equal parts entertaining and intelligent. His comedic timing was impeccable, and his promos were always filled with witty puns and clever wordplay. It was a true testament to his creativity and versatility as a performer.
In addition to his in-ring work, Lanny was also known for being one of the most entertaining and intelligent guests on shoot interviews. He was always a captivating storyteller, and his insights into the world of professional wrestling were always insightful and informative. He will truly be missed, but his legacy as one of the greats in the world of professional wrestling will live on.
Rest in peace, Lanny Poffo. Your contributions to the world of professional wrestling will never be forgotten.
    Sincerely,

  • @jimbrown5091

I was A kid in the 70's and Lanny and his father and brother were wrestling in the maritimes..Atlantic Grand Prix wrestling. I met them all and Leaping Lanny was the most popular wrestler here..was for years after he moved on. He was my first favorite wrestler and still was to this very day.. I was shocked to read this.. had to check several sources first.. he was A very nice man and I am glad to have met him. Very sad day.

I am shocked Lanny died, he seemed so healthy 68 was way too young. He was so healthy and appeared to not have any vices whatsoever and was an anti smoking activist. Too many gone before their time. Lanny never got the credit he deserved because of his brother Randy being top 3 all time. Lanny invented the senton bomb. He was a great poet, innovator, and a spectacular manager. RIP another one from the golden age.
