I know you uploaded this a while ago... But I'm here at Monduran with my old man, the advice you gave in this vid is solid. I'll be sharing it with anyone who's going for a crack at the barra in the dam. Those black and gold 79 jackal squirrels are pretty popular, hard to find. But everyone says they're the right colours, and even the stock setup seems to be working. We ended up going with the J braid (couldn't find the sufix 832 anywhere) didn't have any issues with timber so far. That black magic supple leader is much much better to work with than what we were using before, and if you reckon it sits better in the water that's a bonus. Every single thing you've said in this video has come up gold so far. So I just wanted you to know that even years later it's still solid advice. We haven't got a finder yet, maybe next time (I think we'll be coming back hahaha). I'm sure there are little bits here and there that could be improved, but if you have no idea what you're doing and want a go at catching Barra, you could do much much worse than following the advice in this video. Thanks cobber 😊👍🇦🇺
I really appreciate the comment. Thanks so much. Mondy is such a nice place to fish but also very tough at times. I enjoy filming and sharing what I've learnt to hopefully help someone one day. Thanks again and all the best for the next session!!
Another Fantastic vid mate 👌 too bad those barra were hard to net this time but good to know they were on the chew. Great tackle talk as well, its always nice to know whats working and very helpful for future anglers wanting to catch Barra for the first time. Keep up the good work mate and don't give up on Lake Monduran, she will come though for you. Can't belive what happened to Shelly with the broken jackall squirrel 🤦♂️ she must have hooked up to massive barra that just crunched it, so unlucky.
That’s the thing about the salt. The only way you can find barra.. sound up schools of 200/300 meter plus barra on just chillin on a ledge... I run a bird helix 12 aswell. Best side scan ever!! Sounder is soo important plus also time on the water an knowledge of the fish.
Keep up the great work with the videos. Just wondering how much fuel would you go through with the 40hp over there? What would be a good enough of fuel to take to the lake?
Im glad you asked that question. Using the 40hp 2 stroke I went through 60ltrs of fuel in 4 days. Normally I only use 40 litres but I found the barra a little more difficult to find this trip.

What knot to tie mono to lure ???
I usually tie a loop knot, but I also tie a double blood knot to some lures that have a split ring to attach to.
Great vid Dave buggered if I can find them when I'm there.
Its not easy. I went through 3 fuel tanks looking for barra last trip. Still struggled.

Cheers legend. Appreciate the support. Chelly knows how to hook the barra, sucks about the jackall. Always next time!! 🔥🔥👌
Like the hats and shirt mate. I’m getting some done myself at the moment so hope they look as 🔥 as yours. Good vid.
Thanks mate, appreciate it. I pay the same amount to wear shirts from other places - may as well make my own. 🔥🔥
Perfect timing heading up next week 👌 good content legend
Thanks mate. Hope it helps a bit! Good luck 🔥👌

Yeah 100%. Definitely feels good to sound up a heap of barra - couldn't do it without the bird. 👌

Is your jack gear similar? If not u should make a vid
Jack gear is a bit different again! At the end of this jack season ill put together a similar vid. 👌 thanks mate, good idea!
I don't even fish for Barra but watched the whole video 👌
Haha thanks mate. Glad you enjoyed it 👌👌
Great vid man, that hummbird looks the goods! I need a boat lol!
Thanks legend. I would recommend winning boat 🤣🤣
I don't agree with everything you said (I've been fishing Mondy since 2006) but it was a very informative video nonetheless - good job...
Thanks mate. I guess everyone has different ways of finding and catching fish - hopefully it helps someone along the way 🔥🤙
ys81 size4 and 3+ decoy suspen
d every time
Ill be giving those a whirl next time. Hopefully increase the 'barra in the boat' ratio 👌
Snagd Fishing it does mate 👌 throw a 3+ on the tow point too, you'll find a good fish will snap you off at the tow point without a swivel there.
Great idea mate. I will definitely give it a go!
They split when you leave them in the heat. So I’m guessing you left them in the car or boat for too long.
And that’s why I don’t use squirrels... not built for Barra. The pointers are far better quality
Im going to give a few different lures a try thats for sure. It takes a few bad experiences to try something new! Like all things in life hey 😉
Gday have you fished awoonga
I have fished awoonga. I do have a video here on my channel. I haven't used my own boat. We managed to land 7 or 8 in a night sesh there.
Good vid! Don’t get tooooo hung up on the Jackalls. Just 1 x lure at the end of the day.
Don’t forget to shout out ur grade 8 class
Nice video mate
