In order to form such louvres manually, the slots must first be cut into the sheet with a cutting disc. A steel ruler serves as the guide rail. A 22mm round bead roll and a form roll serve to shape the bead. The louvre is stretched between the bead rolls. The lower roller borders on the inside of the pre-cut bead opening. Now the metal patch is fed forward through the bead rolls. At the end, the rolls are tightened again and the sheet is fed backwards through the rolls. As a result, the louvre is raised.
With a stamp, the bead is driven into the final shape. Two L-profiles clamped togehter in a distance serve as a base. Use a flat anvil and a spoon to shape the surround a little. Finally, the bead is smoothed on a round T-anvil.
This gives the louvre its final shape.
not bad at all,,,keep up the good work!
Its a good thing i dont have these tools because my OCD would have me spending a lot of time getting each part perfect. I just want some rear louvers for my F-Type but I don't have these tools orbthe bead roller. But definitly cool to see it hand crafted.
I wonder if there is a way to do this in place with the sheet metal on the car?
Basically clamp a backer like wood or something to beat into and just do it with a hammer and punch
how then, would you form louvers out of the 2 remaining inner slots? your angle iron form will flatten the outer ones.
The simplliest way is to take some other dolly, which fits for this task. We got loads of different dollys in the shelf..
Even if you didn't have other tools, I think if he'd started at the right, it would have worked fine.
Thank you.
What the heck?????? following a ruler, reallly? You would affix your ( 2 Hose clamps) cutting tool on a rect. tube and secure it in a firm collar and extend it out like any cnc tool for each cut placing a fence guide w stops for your sheet metal.
A good lesson in how NOT to do it. What a compete mess
wow that looks very poor quality work
Sorry, but really poor quality.
These metal shaping tips are produced for beginners. I don‘t prosume, that beginners have a louvre press in their workshop. Plus there are many ways to get to Rome ...
Thanks for this video, I will try this technique
