All people thinks vox is just mimick pedal because the graph. I think is a great pedal, I got mine this week, just love it. Thanks for the comparison, I watched reviews of Victory such an amazing pedal. The lane sounds beautiful for clean tones
I love the graph! And sometimes if I don't have a sound, I can see if it disappeared before or after the pedal :) I now have also Vox Mystic Edge pedal, love it!

@@JohnyToGoodForSchool123 I now run it with Boss overdrive in front of it with gain and 0, just as a booster that cuts lows to make sound tighter. That way I can play Nuno and other 80's and 90's heavy riffs. Basically as it was always done with Marshall JCM800. I think this VOX Copperdrive is a VOX take on JCM800. I think sooner or later I'll try the whole line :)

Great video. I'm surprised the output on your Sheriff is so low, I have mine slaving a 5150 LBXII and it's ridiculously hot.
I think I red about low output of Sheriff in forums as well. I also tried it with clean amp as they suggest (adding this as two new channels to the amp), and if I set amp so the clean is close to very minor breakup, then it is already louder than this pedal at pedal's max volume making it unusable in such application.
@@SergeiVlassov my LBX2's send/return is post master volume control, so the Sheriff's master volume becomes the only master. Maybe that's why mine is so loud in my use case, or it's possible Victory made a running change at some point (I have one of the earlier versions with the original graphics). Either way, I barely have the master turned up (around 8 o'clock) and it's plenty loud.

Did you try to get clean on sheriff by reducing the master volume knob?
No, good point. I will try. However, this pedal is already too weak in output. I actually forget to mention - if I try to use the sheriff as Victory suggests - as an additional channel for the amp with fx loop, then it does not work well since a clean channel is much louder than the sheriff preamp. Vox works pefect in that application. And I couldn't find any demo where Sheriff can sound clean.
I think you should give the Laney's high gain another chance, but turn off the EQ. The EQ button applies a mid scoop EQ
Yes, I know, it sounds unusable for me without EQ button, not like a preamp. To make it sound great I actually cut more mids (in a lover mids region, around 300-500 Hz probably, don't remember), then it sounds really good and comparable to Marshall type preamps. I think without EQ it is meant to be used as a distortion pedal into already colored bright amp.
I prefer the Vox the whole time.

@@SergeiVlassov yes, I don't go for super pristine cleans. If I wanted that the Laney would do well. I currently use a Nux MG30 and mainly use the JTM45 with some lighter grit for my base tone.
Got the Vox Mystic Edge and Silk Drive (dumble/fender), im sending my new Dream 65 back lol. The Silk Drive sounds nicer to my ears and takes pedals better because of the NuTube. Valvenergy pedals are awesome, the inbuilt cabsim isnt too bad either.
@@clintwhite3021 wow! that is a surprise, because Dream 65 sounds incredible in UA-cam demos (but I haven't tried myself). But I also bought a Mystic Edge and absolutely love it! Took some time to find proper settings, but when I did - wow! I use it in preamp mode with either greenbacks IR or some VOX cab IRs.
@@clintwhite3021 that is high praise for Fender amp sounds. I noticed that the Mystic Drive has good sustain, I don't love its interaction with most drive pedals. Not unique to some Vox amps. Now the AC15 I used and the Pathfinder 15R I have, don't have this issue.
