Oh my god girl, this video is great; it totally ended (I wish!) the incredibly disrespectful and completely unnecessary live action remake. VERY LONG writing dump incoming since I have a lot of feelings on this! Snow White is one of my favourite Disney princesses (and movies) and it makes me glad to see yet another staunch defender of the original. Your commentary and edits are hilarious and spot on. It also really shows just how beautiful and detailed the artwork and animation truly is. Tsundere Grumpy for the win! The more you know 💫 -DID YOU JUST ASSUME- I laughed when Jiafei was revealed as the fairest; I think it was a huge missed opportunity to have an Asian Snow White for the live action remake, since there are many Asians who have naturally pale skin (I being one of them!) and ever since I was little I had always thought it would be cool to see an Asian Snow White, especially since Western media often depicts us as having yellow skin when we’re not all like that. It would also give them bonus diversity points since they’re all about that these days. For them to ostensibly cast an olive-skinned woman in the role and say “it’s diversity bcuz she’s Latina!!1!1!” when there are plenty of non-white people (“people of colour”) INCLUDING LATINAS who have pale skin, it comes across as tacky and performative, like they’re trying to distract us from even more glaring problems with the remake. Even worse is that the makeup, hair, and styling they did for Rachel does NOT make her look believable as Snow White, which is infuriating considering I genuinely believe she has the potential to look just like the animated Snow White from some of her red carpet appearances and even from her appearance in West Side Story (see: her makeup in her appearance with the grey dress at the 2022 Grammys-why the hell the movie people didn’t copy that I am seriously baffled and kind of angry!) They also should have cut her hair a lot longer and given it more waves and volume to faithfully recreate the 30s hairstyle of the original character instead of that horrible flat, volumeless yee-yee ass Farquaad haircut they gave her. Seriously, Rachel looks gorgeous with wavy hair and in old Hollywood styles; I don’t know why they didn’t embrace that. And the dress. Oh god. The shape, colour, materials, EVERYTHING is so unflattering on her! The bright strangely turquoise-ish blue should be a deep rich blue and the eye-burning neon highlighter yellow should be a soft pastel yellow or even gold. Not to mention the silhouette of the dress looks horrible-the bottom of the bodice is straight across rather than a V (Basque waist) like the original which causes the skirt to not have shape to her hips, the waistline is too high up, the bodice itself looks boxy and not fitted well, and the combination of the aforementioned makes it seem like she has no waist. And why is the skirt made of tulle instead of something like silk. Honestly after seeing the teaser trailer they released this summer, Miss Zegler having olive skin is the least of the problems with her look in the film, and for a character whose defining trait is snow-white skin, that says a lot. I wonder if the people working on the film actually want it to fail because they never really wanted it made in the first place LMAO. Now, as for Rachel’s comments on the original film. Oh my. As someone for whom the original film is very close to my heart, her comments made me feel sad and hurt because she misunderstood it so gravely and seemed so smug about it on top of that, not to mention being the literal lead actress for the live action remake of this movie, who is supposed to be the face to represent it! I don’t know why she felt so entitled to speak so harshly on something that she clearly does not know very well-after all, she did say she only watched it once as a child and never again because it scared her. Anyone who is familiar with the film can tell you that the prince barely appears, he absolutely does not stalk Snow White, and as someone else here said, if there is any big focus on a love story it is between Snow White and Grumpy, LOL. It’s also disheartening that there are actually people on the internet who are blindly agreeing with her, parroting her claims that the story is outdated and the prince is a creep without elaborating or giving solid evidence. I strongly believe that those people either have not actually seen the film and are just uncritically repeating what other people say, or, like Rachel, only saw it once, had the story fly over their head and never watched it again. I really hope Disney learns their lesson and gives their actors strict PR training and talking points to avoid potentially inflammatory (whether intentional or not) remarks and associated controversies in the future. Rachel is young, dumb, brash, and impulsive, so hopefully she’ll mature with age and experience and not get into any worse trouble in the meantime. Back to the topic of her casting. Miss Zegler is a truly talented individual; a triple threat in the classic sense that is lamentably rarer today, being able to sing, dance, and act all very well thanks to her passion and experience in musical theatre throughout high school. She has a strong, versatile voice with crystal clear tone and enunciation, exquisite vibrato, excellent control, and ability to emote with both her voice and her expressions/gestures that is perfect for Broadway. Zegler has even demonstrated an ability to sing operatically, which not all singers can do. I cannot think of any other performers near her age who have the same or even similar vocal abilities, though maybe I just don’t pay enough attention to celebrities. All in all, if you don’t understand any of what I have just written, I’m saying that Rachel’s vocal and acting talents are S-tier and she deserves every ounce of recognition for her abilities. As a bonus, her facial features even happen to bear a resemblance to the animated Snow White (her eyes and her face shape). However, there is a small part of me that wonders if only what if when casting for Snow White, the casting people could have just put in effort to seek out a new, unknown exceptional talent from specifically Asian or half-Asian backgrounds, just like what Spielberg did for Latinas on West Side Story and ended up finding a then-unknown Rachel. Who knows, maybe that unknown talent could have become discovered like an Asian Rachel Zegler, who would then make her debut in a role that perfectly fits her appearance to a tee and would shut the racists up complaining that only “white” (Caucasian) people can play Snow White. Huge missed opportunity! I hate that the people working on the movie flip flopped and did two things that combined could jeopardize people’s perception of the film: casting an olive-skinned girl to begin with is risky (but could be embraced with good styling), but loudly claiming that you’re being diverse by casting a Latina is stupid considering that there are LITERAL PALE-SKINNED LATINAS which invalidates your point, and then putting near-zero effort into making the poor girl actually look like the character she’s supposed to be playing. People are already calling her all sorts of nasty names relating to her skin colour and making fun of her (truthfully) atrocious hair and cheap, garish looking dress which do not flatter her AT ALL. Heck, I have seen people with darker complexions dressed as Snow White on the internet who look even more believable as her because they put more heart and care into their cosplay than the entire freaking styling department did for Miss Zegler! By not putting effort to make Rachel _look like Snow White_ and prove she was right for this role, they are giving free fuel to haters to say, “that’s not Snow White,” and tear her down for it. I feel so bad for everyone involved with this film-it’s like everyone was doomed to be cast (pun not intended) in the worst possible light and potentially have their reputations ruined with this movie; everyone from Rachel “Not White Enough” Zegler, Gal “Kills Children” (yes, I have seen this used against her) Gadot who is unfortunately not known for her acting skills, award-winning costume designer Sandy Powell (famous for designing the gorgeous live action Cinderella dress) who for whatever reason put out this horrible monstrosity of a dress, makeup and hair artist Nadia Stacey (who worked on Cruella and Poor Things and won an Academy Award for the latter and was nominated for the former) who for some reason did not give Snow White her signature blush or eyeshadow and also butchered her hair, not to mention Marc Webb the director whose creative vision is possibly responsible for the less than stellar artistic output from the very talented and acclaimed off-camera staff…argh! If there is a Wishing Star or a God like the one that Snow White prays to…I wish that this movie was just left the hell alone as the untouchable classic it should be. Fun fact: the Prince appeared so little in the og film partially because the animators couldn't draw him correctly. They wanted him to be very handsome, but they never seemed to hit the mark, so they just wrote him out the best they could.

I'd like to point out that even though Snow White did the cooking and cleaning for the dwarves, she also didn't let them do whatever. Remember that scene, where she makes the dwarves clean themselves before they eat? Yeah, she's holding them to a standard of cleanliness. She cooks for them, she cleans for them, and in return she asks that they have good manners and behave themselves. There is an amount of mutual respect between Snow White and the Dwarves.
Plus, the entire reason why Snow White cooked and cleaned in the first place is because she didn't want to just freeload off of whoever lived in the cottage. So she gave what she had: her services.

I recently wrote a 10min essay about the 1937 Snow White just debunk Zegler's stupid claims (it's in portuguese, I'm from Brazil). Basically, Snow White is not about a damsel in distress waiting to be saved by a prince. It's about a girl who escape an abusive home and find a family where she least expects. Snow White teaches us to be resilient, kind and optimistic even in tough times. Snow White's kidness is what saved her from the huntsman, made all of dwarfs to like her and let her live in their home and also the reason why her unique funeral caught the attention of the prince, who was looking for her and finally got some news. The prince barelly appears, he's the much more a representation of her dreams. A symbol of happiness and the good days that will come.

The fact that Disney was created because Snow White happened, and them disrespecting it in so many different ways is really enraging. Also I think Rachel sometimes forgets that Snow White is 14 and that the story takes place in a time where women had little to no rights. The fact that they made her ,in the remake order, the fucking dwarves to clean up THEIR OWN house when SHE came in uninvited should be telling you what the directors really had in mind. I saw a creator mention it and I will quote it here too. “ Snow White may not be perfectly written but that wasn’t the point. The point was to experiment with something that they weren’t even certain could work. We see her kindness by taking shelter at a random house and while no one asked she decided to clean it up.” People need to understand being strong isn’t just about physical strength. It’s about the strength of one’s spirit and mentality. And the desire to have kids, make a family or being girly in general isn’t a weakness. It’s just a decision people make. So no Hollywood a physically strong woman can be really weak in her spirit but being a dick to everyone around her, while a more feminine woman who may not be physically strong can be much stronger in her spirit than the previous one. What makes Snow White strong is her kindness without expecting anything in return. No one told her to clean the house, no one forced her to take care of the dwarves and most importantly no prince stalked her. I never saw him peaking out the windows while she was sleeping. Animals are creatures that sense the energy/ aura of the ppl if someone is arrogant and negative they will flee or attack I'm pretty sure even the mirror feels it as well I mean the queen has some charm she can be the fairest of them all but she's already corrupted from the inside and that's a weakness.

And then after all that searching, he finds out and that the girl he had loved and looked for was (as far as he knew) dead. He never got the chance to be with her, or even say goodbye to her! No, it's not wrong, but Hollywood making films about heroines and "strong women" isn't going to stop you from being a housewife, if that's your wish. The ideal scenario would be to have a more diverse set of characters in general. Fearless heroes are fun, but relaxed main characters are also good.
I think they're really missing the point when they say it's wrong for women to be like you described. What's wrong is when this is FORCED. Just like it's wrong to force the role similar to how modern Disney depicts women to, for example, you against your wishes. Just like it's wrong to force men into either of the two against theirs. In the name of empowering women, they try to take away our power to choose our role. Do they think people will see a female character like that and start/reinforce a belief that every woman must be that way? Because if that happens, no amount of media representation will help that person with understanding things wisely. It’s funny how they claimed her whole story revolved around true love when it revolved around found family and being kind. The prince was in like, 5 minutes of the movie. Not to mention the dwarves were the ones who killed the evil queen, the prince just woke her up. He wasn’t the one who did everything. It was the family she made after escaping an abusive and lonely household that helped her the most.
I always loved how they make Snow White seem so gentle and innocent, but she is still quite cheeky (like how she teases the dwarves especially Grumpy; really love their interaction tbh it was funny) 😭 She has way more personality and strength than how modern disney perceives her to be

Little fun fact, Walt Disney when he was alive did everything he could to preserve the legacy of Snow White. So far to the point that the actress who played her, Adrianna Caselotti, had to sign a contract forbidding her from signing or voice acting anywhere professionally ever again and if she did she couldn't be properly credited. I know a lot fo people say "Walt Disney is rolling in his grave!" When these remakes come out, but this might but the one time that saying is true. The fact that they are remaking Snow White as a live action is low key a sign of disrespect for the start of the company and to animation as an art form and a form of storytelling. They kept so little of the original version in that can we really call it Snow White anymore? I won't be watching the film, not because of "Rachel Ziegler is spoiled" or "Peter Dinklage ruined the dwarves" or "the CGI is horrible" but because it's very existence shits on the companies own legacy of countless ANIMATED classics and if I wanted to watch Snow White so bad, I already have it whenever I want, thanks to Disney themselves. Movies were made to teach valuable life lessons back then. Now people only care about representation, representation, representation. This Snow White movie helped with my depression, so it's sad to see people calling her weak when the movie is about her surviving and that good gets rewarded

Yeah, sure I GUESS some of the older movies were “racist” but then again it was a completely different era, however it was a fun experience for the child. It’s coming to the point where the movies aren’t even unique anymore since it’s the same script as everything else basically.
Representations today are insane I mean we grew up with spirit a male horse that wanted freedom, protecting his family and friends and we related to that. His pain, sorrow and happiness were so strong that we felt everything he's been through, DreamWorks was genius and I hope they stays that way

Despite how abysmal the live action film looks, I'm kinda glad that it exists because it made people look back at the original animated film and gain a newfound appreciation for it and the character.
Back in the days they do because there's no concept of teenagehood, not many people get the chance to get proper education so they work and get married, they grow up so fast with hardships but age and maturity are important to grow properly
i think people tend to ignore that while the movie can be weird at times, this was made in the 1930's during the great depression, when both wife and husband had to go to work not because of choice but out of necessity, this movie sells the dream of people of the time a calm ''traditional'' life. That's why it worked so well, cause it told the hopeful story people needed to hear at the time, the message of hard work and believing in your dreams. The live action's failing because they're ignoring the context the movie was made in.
Unfortunately people are ignorant about history, they have no idea how people lived back then, people say that they're open minded but no its hard for them to understand each era struggles, too much comfort and entertainment has made them blind, emotionless and gets offended every single minute. If people from the past sees us like this they will be embarrassed... this is how the people that they fought for turned out to be u_u
I loved her so much as a kid her and Bell were my absolute favorite princesses! She was so sweet and kind and she loved animals!!! idk how they could ruin her image like they did 😭
It's interesting tho, isn't it? Snow White only knew how to cook and clean because the Evil Queen forced her to work like a servant girl. And when she ran for her life, she used those same housekeeping skills to survive by proving to the dwarves that she's more useful to them than they realize. She basically became the Wendy to the Lost Boys, teaching them how to care for themselves and their living space. She wasn't ordering them around like a tyrant but assigning chores like a motherly figure. Misrepresenting her entire character to be a spoiled princess is so bizarre to me

Imagine instead of the prince saving her, its Grumpy. Imagine the drawrfs are a bit younger and not CGI, and it would be kind of a frenemies to lovers story.
The thing is that Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs came out during The Great Depression when the life and economy in the USA was at it worst. I remember a video that said that in a way Snow White managed to bring a bit of light during that times, since she represents hope for a better future and never giving up philosophy. So snow is a 16th century german girl _where age of consent is 12 to 14 "other western countries have it in 10 and 11" in the original story shes only 7 ( i have no idea why they say prince is 30 he looks like 17 to me) anyway_Although she's a princess, the queen made her a slave so by the age of 14 she can read, sing, dance, cook, clean maybe sew, taking care of animals and humans she's already doing what a mother does, so ofc she'll look for the balance which is a man that protects her and love her. The term teen was first appeared in early 19th, the legal age of 18 was made in mid to late 20th century ( not many goes by it). People always talk about age but what's as important as age is MATURITY physical and mental. The people who have mental, emotional disorder, consume cigarettes, drugs, alcohol will have problems with maturity so 40 y/o man can have the brain of 11 y/o by making dangerous pranks that actually ending him up in jail...or hospital. If you listen to the kids in Gaza 12 y/o boys and girls lost their parents and home they found themselves the new parent of the "tent" taking care of younger siblings looking for bread and milk instead of their books and pens, so appreciate what you have. 1. As a History student, I must point out that girls marrying at 14 was rarely the norm in several societies, not even the Spartans married at 14. But it's true that the age of consent was rarely talked about, or even existed. 2. Being forced to act mature doesn't make you more mature. What bugs me the most about this remake is how mean spirited everything is against the original work, it feels like a Velma type scenario. If Disney had the balls to be really progressive, they would make the Prince a girl. He's so unimportant that it wouldn't change a thing and if Snow White can literally speak to animals, we can have a lesbian romance.

0:36 let me introduce you to rotoscopy! Basically, the animators recorded someone doing the motion and then did every frame "tracing" the footage :D they used it a lot on this movie, except for those characters that are more stylized, such as the witch and the dwarves

I laughed when Jiafei was revealed as the fairest; I think it was a huge missed opportunity to have an Asian Snow White for the live action remake, since there are many Asians who have naturally pale skin (I being one of them!) and ever since I was little I had always thought it would be cool to see an Asian Snow White, especially since Western media often depicts us as having yellow skin when we’re not all like that. It would also give them bonus diversity points since they’re all about that these days. For them to ostensibly cast an olive-skinned woman in the role and say “it’s diversity bcuz she’s Latina!!1!1!” when there are plenty of non-white people (“people of colour”) INCLUDING LATINAS who have pale skin, it comes across as tacky and performative, like they’re trying to distract us from even more glaring problems with the remake. Even worse is that the makeup, hair, and styling they did for Rachel does NOT make her look believable as Snow White, which is infuriating considering I genuinely believe she has the potential to look just like the animated Snow White from some of her red carpet appearances and even from her appearance in West Side Story (see: her makeup in her appearance with the grey dress at the 2022 Grammys-why the hell the movie people didn’t copy that I am seriously baffled and kind of angry!) They also should have cut her hair a lot longer and given it more waves and volume to faithfully recreate the 30s hairstyle of the original character instead of that horrible flat, volumeless yee-yee ass Farquaad haircut they gave her. Seriously, Rachel looks gorgeous with wavy hair and in old Hollywood styles; I don’t know why they didn’t embrace that. And the dress. Oh god. The shape, colour, materials, EVERYTHING is so unflattering on her! The bright strangely turquoise-ish blue should be a deep rich blue and the eye-burning neon highlighter yellow should be a soft pastel yellow or even gold. Not to mention the silhouette of the dress looks horrible-the bottom of the bodice is straight across rather than a V (Basque waist) like the original which causes the skirt to not have shape to her hips, the waistline is too high up, the bodice itself looks boxy and not fitted well, and the combination of the aforementioned makes it seem like she has no waist. And why is the skirt made of tulle instead of something like silk. Honestly after seeing the teaser trailer they released this summer, Miss Zegler having olive skin is the least of the problems with her look in the film, and for a character whose defining trait is snow-white skin, that says a lot. I wonder if the people working on the film actually want it to fail because they never really wanted it made in the first place LMAO.
Now, as for Rachel’s comments on the original film. Oh my. As someone for whom the original film is very close to my heart, her comments made me feel sad and hurt because she misunderstood it so gravely and seemed so smug about it on top of that, not to mention being the literal lead actress for the live action remake of this movie, who is supposed to be the face to represent it! I don’t know why she felt so entitled to speak so harshly on something that she clearly does not know very well-after all, she did say she only watched it once as a child and never again because it scared her. Anyone who is familiar with the film can tell you that the prince barely appears, he absolutely does not stalk Snow White, and as someone else here said, if there is any big focus on a love story it is between Snow White and Grumpy, LOL. It’s also disheartening that there are actually people on the internet who are blindly agreeing with her, parroting her claims that the story is outdated and the prince is a creep without elaborating or giving solid evidence. I strongly believe that those people either have not actually seen the film and are just uncritically repeating what other people say, or, like Rachel, only saw it once, had the story fly over their head and never watched it again. I really hope Disney learns their lesson and gives their actors strict PR training and talking points to avoid potentially inflammatory (whether intentional or not) remarks and associated controversies in the future. Rachel is young, dumb, brash, and impulsive, so hopefully she’ll mature with age and experience and not get into any worse trouble in the meantime.
Back to the topic of her casting. Miss Zegler is a truly talented individual; a triple threat in the classic sense that is lamentably rarer today, being able to sing, dance, and act all very well thanks to her passion and experience in musical theatre throughout high school. She has a strong, versatile voice with crystal clear tone and enunciation, exquisite vibrato, excellent control, and ability to emote with both her voice and her expressions/gestures that is perfect for Broadway. Zegler has even demonstrated an ability to sing operatically, which not all singers can do. I cannot think of any other performers near her age who have the same or even similar vocal abilities, though maybe I just don’t pay enough attention to celebrities. All in all, if you don’t understand any of what I have just written, I’m saying that Rachel’s vocal and acting talents are S-tier and she deserves every ounce of recognition for her abilities. As a bonus, her facial features even happen to bear a resemblance to the animated Snow White (her eyes and her face shape). However, there is a small part of me that wonders if only what if when casting for Snow White, the casting people could have just put in effort to seek out a new, unknown exceptional talent from specifically Asian or half-Asian backgrounds, just like what Spielberg did for Latinas on West Side Story and ended up finding a then-unknown Rachel. Who knows, maybe that unknown talent could have become discovered like an Asian Rachel Zegler, who would then make her debut in a role that perfectly fits her appearance to a tee and would shut the racists up complaining that only “white” (Caucasian) people can play Snow White. Huge missed opportunity!
I hate that the people working on the movie flip flopped and did two things that combined could jeopardize people’s perception of the film: casting an olive-skinned girl to begin with is risky (but could be embraced with good styling), but loudly claiming that you’re being diverse by casting a Latina is stupid considering that there are LITERAL PALE-SKINNED LATINAS which invalidates your point, and then putting near-zero effort into making the poor girl actually look like the character she’s supposed to be playing. People are already calling her all sorts of nasty names relating to her skin colour and making fun of her (truthfully) atrocious hair and cheap, garish looking dress which do not flatter her AT ALL. Heck, I have seen people with darker complexions dressed as Snow White on the internet who look even more believable as her because they put more heart and care into their cosplay than the entire freaking styling department did for Miss Zegler! By not putting effort to make Rachel _look like Snow White_ and prove she was right for this role, they are giving free fuel to haters to say, “that’s not Snow White,” and tear her down for it. I feel so bad for everyone involved with this film-it’s like everyone was doomed to be cast (pun not intended) in the worst possible light and potentially have their reputations ruined with this movie; everyone from Rachel “Not White Enough” Zegler, Gal “Kills Children” (yes, I have seen this used against her) Gadot who is unfortunately not known for her acting skills, award-winning costume designer Sandy Powell (famous for designing the gorgeous live action Cinderella dress) who for whatever reason put out this horrible monstrosity of a dress, makeup and hair artist Nadia Stacey (who worked on Cruella and Poor Things and won an Academy Award for the latter and was nominated for the former) who for some reason did not give Snow White her signature blush or eyeshadow and also butchered her hair, not to mention Marc Webb the director whose creative vision is possibly responsible for the less than stellar artistic output from the very talented and acclaimed off-camera staff…argh!
If there is a Wishing Star or a God like the one that Snow White prays to…I wish that this movie was just left the hell alone as the untouchable classic it should be. I'd like to point out that even though Snow White did the cooking and cleaning for the dwarves, she also didn't let them do whatever. Remember that scene, where she makes the dwarves clean themselves before they eat? Yeah, she's holding them to a standard of cleanliness. She cooks for them, she cleans for them, and in return she asks that they have good manners and behave themselves. There is an amount of mutual respect between Snow White and the Dwarves.
Plus, the entire reason why Snow White cooked and cleaned in the first place is because she didn't want to just freeload off of whoever lived in the cottage. So she gave what she had: her services.

I recently wrote a 10min essay about the 1937 Snow White just debunk Zegler's stupid claims (it's in portuguese, I'm from Brazil).
Basically, Snow White is not about a damsel in distress waiting to be saved by a prince. It's about a girl who escape an abusive home and find a family where she least expects. Snow White teaches us to be resilient, kind and optimistic even in tough times.
Snow White's kidness is what saved her from the huntsman, made all of dwarfs to like her and let her live in their home and also the reason why her unique funeral caught the attention of the prince, who was looking for her and finally got some news.
The prince barelly appears, he's the much more a representation of her dreams. A symbol of happiness and the good days that will come.

Yeah but that is the thing. Snow White was the debut of Disney. They worked with what they had at that time not to mention WW2 starting 2 years later. Heck they weren’t even sure if they could pull it off. The fact that Disney was created because Snow White happened, and them disrespecting it in so many different ways is really enraging. Also I think Rachel sometimes forgets that Snow White is 14 and that the story takes place in a time where women had little to no rights. The fact that they made her ,in the remake order, the fucking dwarves to clean up THEIR OWN house when SHE came in uninvited should be telling you what the directors really had in mind. I saw a creator mention it and I will quote it here too. “ Snow White may not be perfectly written but that wasn’t the point. The point was to experiment with something that they weren’t even certain could work. We see her kindness by taking shelter at a random house and while no one asked she decided to clean it up.”
People need to understand being strong isn’t just about physical strength. It’s about the strength of one’s spirit and mentality. And the desire to have kids, make a family or being girly in general isn’t a weakness. It’s just a decision people make. So no Hollywood a physically strong woman can be really weak in her spirit but being a dick to everyone around her, while a more feminine woman who may not be physically strong can be much stronger in her spirit than the previous one. What makes Snow White strong is her kindness without expecting anything in return. No one told her to clean the house, no one forced her to take care of the dwarves and most importantly no prince stalked her. I never saw him peaking out the windows while she was sleeping. I think Rachel needs to understand that too.

This boy searched for her! He probably went back to the Queen’s castle, but saw that she was gone. He searched far and wide for her, with no indication of where she was. And then after all that searching, he finds out and that the girl he had loved and looked for was (as far as he knew) dead. He never got the chance to be with her, or even say goodbye to her! No, it's not wrong, but Hollywood making films about heroines and "strong women" isn't going to stop you from being a housewife, if that's your wish.
The ideal scenario would be to have a more diverse set of characters in general. Fearless heroes are fun, but relaxed main characters are also good.
I think they're really missing the point when they say it's wrong for women to be like you described. What's wrong is when this is FORCED. Just like it's wrong to force the role similar to how modern Disney depicts women to, for example, you against your wishes. Just like it's wrong to force men into either of the two against theirs. In the name of empowering women, they try to take away our power to choose our role. Do they think people will see a female character like that and start/reinforce a belief that every woman must be that way? Because if that happens, no amount of media representation will help that person with understanding things wisely.

It’s funny how they claimed her whole story revolved around true love when it revolved around found family and being kind. The prince was in like, 5 minutes of the movie. Little fun fact, Walt Disney when he was alive did everything he could to preserve the legacy of Snow White. So far to the point that the actress who played her, Adrianna Caselotti, had to sign a contract forbidding her from signing or voice acting anywhere professionally ever again and if she did she couldn't be properly credited. I know a lot fo people say "Walt Disney is rolling in his grave!" When these remakes come out, but this might but the one time that saying is true. The fact that they are remaking Snow White as a live action is low key a sign of disrespect for the start of the company and to animation as an art form and a form of storytelling. They kept so little of the original version in that can we really call it Snow White anymore? i think people tend to ignore that while the movie can be weird at times, this was made in the 1930's during the great depression, when both wife and husband had to go to work not because of choice but out of necessity, this movie sells the dream of people of the time a calm ''traditional'' life. That's why it worked so well, cause it told the hopeful story people needed to hear at the time, the message of hard work and believing in your dreams. The live action's failing because they're ignoring the context the movie was made in.

It's interesting tho, isn't it? Snow White only knew how to cook and clean because the Evil Queen forced her to work like a servant girl. And when she ran for her life, she used those same housekeeping skills to survive by proving to the dwarves that she's more useful to them than they realize. She basically became the Wendy to the Lost Boys, teaching them how to care for themselves and their living space. She wasn't ordering them around like a tyrant but assigning chores like a motherly figure.

The thing is that Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs came out during The Great Depression when the life and economy in the USA was at it worst. I remember a video that said that in a way Snow White managed to bring a bit of light during that times, since she represents hope for a better future and never giving up philosophy. And despite what she's been throu she kept being kind and positive.
Thats true and it was really beautiful and very thoughtful of them, we should always see the good side of things that's how people advance

So snow is a 16th century german girl _where age of consent is 12 to 14 "other western countries have it in 10 and 11" in the original story shes only 7 ( i have no idea why they say prince is 30 he looks like 17 to me) anyway_Although she's a princess, the queen made her a slave so by the age of 14 she can read, sing, dance, cook, clean maybe sew, taking care of animals and humans she's already doing what a mother does, so ofc she'll look for the balance which is a man that protects her and love her. The term teen was first appeared in early 19th, the legal age of 18 was made in mid to late 20th century ( not many goes by it).
People always talk about age but what's as important as age is MATURITY physical and mental. The people who have mental, emotional disorder, consume cigarettes, drugs, alcohol will have problems with maturity so 40 y/o man can have the brain of 11 y/o by making dangerous pranks that actually ending him up in jail...or hospital. If you listen to the kids in Gaza 12 y/o boys and girls lost their parents and home they found themselves the new parent of the "tent" taking care of younger siblings looking for bread and milk instead of their books and pens, so appreciate what you have.
Lots of teens now are lost souls lacking affection and care an advice for the "rebels" who "acts" mature do not date whoever or have any crazy experience. protect yourself and your dignity bcuz the world have NO mercy. Surrounding yourself with bad people is not an achievement, people may mock you but they only mock their insecurities and you're the winner at the end.

1. As a History student, I must point out that girls marrying at 14 was rarely the norm in several societies, not even the Spartans married at 14. But it's true that the age of consent was rarely talked about, or even existed.
2. Being forced to act mature doesn't make you more mature. That's the tragedy of these kind of children, being forced to grow up fast leaves permanent mental scars that can affect them in adulthood.

What bugs me the most about this remake is how mean spirited everything is against the original work, it feels like a Velma type scenario.

In the movie there is no script reference that she is but what is false is the prince being 30 that is a false rumour that has no actual source and instead he is 18, All the princesses do have official documented ages even though 3 of them are ever mentioned in the scripts
What I didn't understand even in my childhood is how tf the Snow White left with the damned prince who just... Were somewhere away the whole story and the only thing he did is magic kiss her... Instead of staying with the whole harem of seven gnomes with Grumpy being that protective tsundere?

0:36 let me introduce you to rotoscopy! Basically, the animators recorded someone doing the motion and then did every frame "tracing" the footage :D they used it a lot on this movie, except for those characters that are more stylized, such as the witch and the dwarves

Fun fact: Snow White isn´t 14 years old, her and the prince don´t have a canon age. The closest thing to a canon age is the concept where they put her as 14 and the Prince as 18 but again is just a concept
