MDCCCCXXVII does mean 1927 but would normally be written as MCMXXVII, they swapped out the CM, which is 900, for DCCCC instead for some reason - D being 500 and C being 100, perhaps there is some other meaning in that date inscription? Nearly all old world buildings have arched windows, but some of those old buildings you've shown have no lintels above the square windows, meaning they were a replacement at a later date.

There never appear to be any construction photos of any of these beautiful old world buildings, or if the are they are usually just a lot of scaffolding, the large proportion of the buildings already constructed, with little or no workers in sight. Think they threw up some scaffolding either to clean up or fix up any damage and what is strange now is that many Government buildings today appear to be undergoing "renovation" with scaffolding in place.....one wonders, will they become the construction photos of the future?@@LemurianWaves
