That's not what the constitution says. It says electors can't cast their vote for president and vice president to people of their state. It's a hold over from the old way that president and vice president were elected , separately rather than the party system with president picking their vp as they do today.

I disagree. I think he picks Doug Who. Rubio, Scott, Vance all have their eyes on a bigger prize. Doug will be happy to just be selected. Doug also strikes me as the weakest of the three. Last think Trump wants is another VP who does his own thinking.
Doug who is a self made billionaire and a smart guy. He also is the governor of an energy rich state who is strangled by federal regulations. I would prefer Vivek, but I’m sure he will be in a stronger position in the cabinet.
