I read this book when it first came out. It just flat out blew my mind. I was in the Boston area in the military. When the movie came out I went to see it the first night. One of the greatest movies ever made and so few have seen it. Matewan and 9th are two of the best American films ever made at what 10% at most have seen either. Shame. I guess most people don't like to think.
One of my favorite movies of all time, with Scott Wilson giving one of the greatest performances I've ever seen. Film and actor so unique and underrated and underseen. "San Antone" is lovely and this video beautifully encapsulates the film.
This whole film and its performances are unique and underrated and underseen. I came across the film when I was looking for films with Richard Lynch in them. I instantly fell in love with the film...and it's one of my favorites of all time. What a cast! It reads like a list of great Hollywood character actors: Ed Flanders, Stacy Keach, Scott Wilson, Neville Brand, Jason Miller, Lynch of course, and most people don't realize that William Peter Blatty appeared in the role of Lt. Fromme, uncredited. I only know this because someone in the bookstore where I met Blatty during a signing, mentioned that he had been in the film. I was halfway out the door before it dawned on me that he had portrayed Fromme.
Beautiful, heart-rending song. I remember it from the opening credits of "Rolling Thunder" (1977). A little reminiscent of "Desperado" by the Eagles. Anyone else agree?
Thanks for posting this, I looked for this song on youtube back around 2008 and couldn't find it, and a hard copy was absolutely nowhere to be found. Glad I looked again... a good clear version of this great song, to a great movie. Give it enough time. Thanks again!
since this was released many moons ago on vhs I think I have seen this movie over a hundred times no shit its mesmorizing and thought provoking with insane humor that hits the soul
This and Legion (filmed as exorcist 3) are Blatty’s true spiritual successors to the Exorcist. I adore all three films and the books they’re based on too :)
Judah got it right. strange. haunting. the Ninth Configuration was a strangely managed movie, but a very good movie, and highly overlooked and underrated. Blatty directed, and I think that was the problem. The acting, and story, and script were stellar.
Thanks so much for posting this ! One of my favorite movies and songs. Always thought it was John Denver who sang it and was always looking for it under his name.
This film is beautiful and filled with symbolism the uncut fight sean is pure combat Kenpo and quite realistic. I think Scott Willson's performance was his best and Stacey Keach did a great Job we must never forget Robert the star of T.H.E Cat fame and a lifetime of great acting. The photography is priceless. Paul Craddock, Nedan Tracey's Kenpo. AAS Commercial Photography.
i would even suggest that in time this has become a cult film of sorts. it has a rather devoted following who "got" the message of the film. And yes, Scott Wilson was brilliant..
I disagree. I think the fact that there was not too many cooks to spoil the broth was exactly what was RIGHT about the film. The film was EXACTLY like the book--Great. Blatty put HIS vision on the screen. I could not disagree more.
I finally figured it out William Peter Bradleys novels and movies Good vs Evil Here is how to watch and what each film means and the original prequel before it was destroyed by MORGAN CREEK Even thought not based on a novel or written by William he himself praised and loved the makers conception of Dominion. 1. Dominion- The Faith Of Good and The Birth Of Evil 2. Exorcist- The essence of Good and Evil 3. Ninth Configuration- The Existence Of Good 4. Legion- the embodiment of Evil The worst prequel and sequel are the ones with Exorcist in the title they tried to be too similar and to be to horror like they had no real plot, story, remorse, love, message or reason please DO NOT WATCH THESE MOVIES!! 1. Exorcist 2 The Hectic 2. Exorcist the Beginning

That ending with the St. Christopher medallion is beautiful.
Great great movie. Scott Wilson and Stacey Keach are amazing. Everyone is brilliant in the film. Great ending. See you soon, Bill...
My favorite movie ever. Hunted this song (before You tube), then forgot about it. And now here it is. Thankyou!
The first time I saw this film I nearly cried. This has got to be the best film I've ever seen.
I have now seen better films but I will rewatch soon

It is also the theme song for the movie "Rolling Thunder" from 1977, starring William Devane.
Now that is a great movie

Scott Wilson is amazing in this film. It's a great cast. Bill Blatty moved on but he was a sweet man . Rock on Bill...

Thanks so much for posting this ! One of my favorite movies and songs. Always thought it was John Denver who sang it and was always looking for it under his name.
Denny Brooks used to sing back up for John Denver. Similar sounding voices, yes!

i would even suggest that in time this has become a cult film of sorts. it has a rather devoted following who "got" the message of the film. And yes, Scott Wilson was brilliant..
Yes, beautiful and brilliant.
It definitely has collected a small but dedicated fan base over the years.
Stacey Keach taking On hells angels is Ausome
Heartfelt.
Heartbreaking movie... Who would steal from a vet who went through hell as a POW? Either way, great song, and the bad guys got theirs in the end.
That was 'Rolling Thunder'.
Aye some of the scenes are heartbreaking
thank you
