- The COVID pandemic has undoubtedly affected people from all walks of life. One aspect of this Covid catastrophe is poverty. Poverty that's putting the lives of small children into danger and exposing them to coronavirus infections. There are reports telling us how crores of people have lost their livelihood in the pandemic but those who were already poor and were literally struggling to even arrange their meals for a day are badly hit in the second wave. Mojo Story's Madan Lal reports from a market in South Delhi's Kailash Colony. Several kids were seen literally begging in the market. The children told Mojo Story that their parents are jobless and are unable to find any work since the covid-19 outbreak. Hence, their parents drop them everyday at the marketplace to literally beg and the money they get from begging is used to run their household. This is another untold tragedy that's unfolding in the metropolitan cities like Delhi.

I remember an interview where an economist warned that this pandemic is a poverty creating crisis, not just health crisis alone. She said this at the beginning to pandemic last year.
But just as always nobody listened.
That was Jayati Ghosh, who said we haven't seen the worst yet.

In China when this happened the people didn't accept it. They bore arms and rose up and overthrew the corrupt puppet government that served Western interests.
Today they are the largest economy in the world by GDP PPP, have hypersonic weapons, stealth fighters and quantum satellites, and have now become the largest trading nation in the world.
They have become so powerful that the US is fearful of it and you can really tell, given how many attempts by the US to contain it or smear it's reputation. When that happens to India, you would know that we are on the right track to becoming a formidable superpower

I could only muster the courage to watch the first couple of minutes, it is too painful and emotional. These kids' playfulness is cruelly juxtaposed with the harshness and unjustness of the pandemic and life; it impacts everyone differently. I pray these children find themselves in a better situation soon and get good opportunities to grow in life and realise their full potential.
I wish I can gather these adorable kids and take them on lunch, dinner and breakfast and keep doing this until they are able to do it themselves. Please good people of Delhi, help them. With food and money. Please.

As Ms. Agnihotri, the social worker, said in the video, things dont get to people because some govt employees are (not skimming in the top but) looting whatever the govt might have passed as benefits.

We have number of Masjids, Mandirs and Gurudwaras in and each area of Delhi. Feeding such families can be handled by these. What it requires is a sincere intent and coordinated effort beyond Media glare. Agreed Govt has messed up. But now the society has to get together and share. It's going to be a litmus test for haves towards have nots.

This isn't just a pandemic thing...even before people were living like this! It might be that due to COVID the numbers increased but this situation was always there. Can there be food banks in every area, where people can collect food items on a weekly basis. Something must be done immediately. Cannot bear to see this helpless situation.

These children at this particular market did this even before COVID. They sometimes even run away with wallet and phones etc. I know this because my workplace used to be at this place.
