What’s Going On (No strings or guitar) on a La Bella Olinto P Bass

I wrote my master’s thesis on how James Jamerson influenced electric bass playing in contemporary music. We all know this song “What’s Going On” and we hear bass grooves like this all the time in music today, but what’s important to know is that before Jamerson there simply wasn’t bass parts like this heard in contemporary music. James Jamerson was one of the very first to add syncopations, inversions, chromaticism, and melody to bass lines in pop music. I am grateful to be able to study his work.
btw, I removed the bass, guitar, and strings from this song then added my bass playing.

The story of Jamerson's involvement with What's Going On is unforgettable. In order to record the title track, Gaye had to locate Jamerson and found him in a local bar, slightly worse for wear. By the time he got him to the studio, the bassist could barely stand up and recorded lying flat on his back.

Nice! I tried the acme di but it didn’t do much for me, I’m sure the olinto adds something but just goes to show how much of a player’s sound is in the hands.
