Oops looks like the video cut off for some reason. Once you lose that final doom dice all your checks are made at disadvantage!

I've only read the first Elric book so far, but I'm already a super-fan. I just told my group that, if we hadn't already discovered Mythras, I would force them to play this game an gunpoint! :D
Thanks for the video. Just discovered your channel; seems great.

I'm Glad it's finally getting some attention lately. I was really excited to get my ultimate chaos edition a few months ago. I'd definitely say its OSR and not nsr.
    Good review.

Thanks for checking the video out! It's an awesome game and I can't wait to run a campaign for it soon. The system is a great fit for the Warhammer Fantasy setting so i'm trying that!

@@altrpgclubfor Warhammer, I'd suggest the same author's earlier game Fléaux. It's also very good.

I agree that this is a neat little game that is quite effective at mixing elements from OSR and other genres.
I have two comments to make about the game:
first, as you have correctly said, this game kinda lies to you. The foreword and character creation guidelines present you the game like classical OSR, so you approach it in a similar way, with a very thin background because, after all, the story is supposed to happen right now.
Then you start playing, and you realise your character can be *very* powerful, depending on the backgrounds you chose. Your characters can be combat monsters, stealth masters or problem solving machines very easily. If I may dare, I'd say that in some aspects your characters might start up STRONGER than D&D 5e characters.
And at the end of the game, the manual nudges your characters into changing the world in some way. Which is absolutely great. Problem is, at this point you might regret following the instruction and not fleshing out your character and their place in the world just a tiny bit more to add more nuance to their decision.
The second thing is that the system could actually work for a lot of different genres, but it's very fixated on paying omage to Sword and Sorcery. Which is not a bad thing per se, but I think it could have a lot of potential for going in many new directions if it was a bit less "conservative" in its suggested worldbuilding.

Seems like an easy fix next time round! You might want to check out Fléaux! by the same designer Kobayashi which can help address some of your concerns. There is a more fleshed-out setting in that book and all the PCs are criminals some may be wrongfully accused, some rightfully so but there are tables to flesh out that part of the character as well.
Also, I think it helps you only gain 1 HP per level haha it keeps things manageable and some of the stronger npc attacks will still be quite deadly.

It is a different game and requires players that are willing to learn new styles of play.

Unfortunately, that is the case for any game that isn't Dungeons and Dragons 5E :(

@@altrpgclub That was the first TTRPG I played and DM'd. All my concepts on combat stem from there. Second edition bloated the system IMO.
