The track art is what got me interested in finding out what Homestuck was back in 2011-2012. A page admin on Facebook posted this pic and was talking about Homestuck on a non-Homestuck page. I asked them if this is a game or show or anime and they linked me [S]: Cascade. Was confused by what I was seeing, and then I checked out the comic and got into it. To this day, I'm grateful they introduced me to this wonderful multiverse.
God fuck. I love how it fits Davekat but instead of them fighting each other, I imagine this is them fighting together. They attack separately sometimes and sometimes they clash but their is a perfect balance of harmony. This is their attack. This is them not fighting each other but fighting together.
People seem to talk about the different instruments as the different characters Dave and Karkat, but what if it was the differing style of music instead? What I mean is, clearly there are parts of this song that mimic classical music, and some that mimic rock music. Many times, these different parts are intermingled. But imagine that instead of the different instruments representing Dave and Karkat, if the different styles did instead? Thinking about it this way, Dave could be rock of course and Karkat would be classical (or the other way around depending on how you see the characters, take your pick). This way of thinking is also cool because that means the different instruments could be different stances throughout the fight. For instance, if someone found an opening in the enemy's defenses, the guitar would kick in, represent an all-out, no mercy barrage of attacks, the drums could be the constant slight but noticeable movements of the fighters feet, the violin could be the smooth and collected parrying of attacks form an in-experienced attacker, etc. This means you could take the parts when one style of music overlaps the other and "takes over" the song so to speak as either one of the fighters gaining the upper hand in the fight OR as some would like to imagine , as if they are working together. As if one of them switched out to do the heavy attacking while the other stayed back to catch their breath. And when the parts of the music harmonize together perfectly, it could be both Karkat and Dave working together in one awesome double-team! However, there is one style left in this song that is overlooked -- bit tunes. These would represent not one specific person fighting, but rather the overall flow of the fight -- which would be controlled by SBURB itself, hence the game-y style.

Here's how I see it (from a couple comments I once saw and a few of my own ideas): It's the fight between Rose and Jack, but overtime the guitar (Jack) overpowers the Violin (Rose). I see 2:54 as Rose remembering her mother (as I see this change in tune as a flashback or just a change in what characters are being shown) before she dies to Jack, as after this part the guitar fully takes over the song.
This song is freaking AMAZING. The blend of the violin with the electric guitar is fantastic and MMMMMM THAT HARPSICHORD. This is music at it's finest.

I absolutely love this song! I just started Homestuck recently and I'm already halfway through Act 5. It's been freaking awesome so far, and I'm loving it a lot! It's definitely worth the read. :33
It fits the picture well, Harpsichord and electric guitar are Dave's attacks, rhythmic and powerful, and the Violin is Karkat's attacks, elegant, and complex. Two styles clash, Dave going for overpower with force, and Karkat going for overwhelm with speed. I think it fits both well.

I think that, unlike everyone, Dave is guitar and Karkat is Violin. Hear me out!!! As we know, Dave is more layed back, and the instrument played in a more, well, casual style is the Guitar just doing some cords and staying in the back round with few outbursts of Dave's emotions. Karkat always being angry but still holding his own, got the elligent instrument, to show his inner self, but plays it to be aggressive and try and outshine the thing (Dave) he sees as made to best him (Karkat vs Clover)

This was the first picture I had ever seen about Homestuck. It peaked my curiosity, so I asked the FB page admin what it was from. He then got me into Homestuck after giving me a short summary, and sending me the UA-cam link to the Cascade OST.
I remember this was the first fanart I've ever seen of Homestuck before I was even in the fandom. I remember a Facebook page admin introduced Homestuck to me after he/she/they posted this picture on their FB page, with them wondering if Karkat and Dave would ever fight. I remember thinking that Karkat was the protagonist of the comic, with Dave being his rival/antagonist.

Actually, nevermind. This is actually fairly simple to play, the only thing is that it's so fast.
Turns out, the violin part isn't super difficult. Maybe around a season worth of practice and it'll be fairly well down.

The track art is what got me interested in finding out what Homestuck was back in 2011-2012. A page admin on Facebook posted this pic and was talking about Homestuck on a non-Homestuck page. I asked them if this is a game or show or anime and they linked me [S]: Cascade. Was confused by what I was seeing, and then I checked out the comic and got into it.
To this day, I'm grateful they introduced me to this wonderful multiverse.
This song is basically what would come out of Rose and Dave making a song together.
God fuck. I love how it fits Davekat but instead of them fighting each other, I imagine this is them fighting together. They attack separately sometimes and sometimes they clash but their is a perfect balance of harmony. This is their attack. This is them not fighting each other but fighting together.

People seem to talk about the different instruments as the different characters Dave and Karkat, but what if it was the differing style of music instead?
What I mean is, clearly there are parts of this song that mimic classical music, and some that mimic rock music. Many times, these different parts are intermingled. But imagine that instead of the different instruments representing Dave and Karkat, if the different styles did instead? Thinking about it this way, Dave could be rock of course and Karkat would be classical (or the other way around depending on how you see the characters, take your pick). This way of thinking is also cool because that means the different instruments could be different stances throughout the fight. For instance, if someone found an opening in the enemy's defenses, the guitar would kick in, represent an all-out, no mercy barrage of attacks, the drums could be the constant slight but noticeable movements of the fighters feet, the violin could be the smooth and collected parrying of attacks form an in-experienced attacker, etc. This means you could take the parts when one style of music overlaps the other and "takes over" the song so to speak as either one of the fighters gaining the upper hand in the fight OR as some would like to imagine , as if they are working together. As if one of them switched out to do the heavy attacking while the other stayed back to catch their breath. And when the parts of the music harmonize together perfectly, it could be both Karkat and Dave working together in one awesome double-team! However, there is one style left in this song that is overlooked -- bit tunes. These would represent not one specific person fighting, but rather the overall flow of the fight -- which would be controlled by SBURB itself, hence the game-y style.

Here's how I see it (from a couple comments I once saw and a few of my own ideas): It's the fight between Rose and Jack, but overtime the guitar (Jack) overpowers the Violin (Rose). I see 2:54 as Rose remembering her mother (as I see this change in tune as a flashback or just a change in what characters are being shown) before she dies to Jack, as after this part the guitar fully takes over the song.
I know I am late, but oh boy, that makes me feel, sad.
This song is freaking AMAZING. The blend of the violin with the electric guitar is fantastic and MMMMMM THAT HARPSICHORD. This is music at it's finest.

Okay, I get it, Karkat's pose is odd. But it is possible, ya see, his head isn't turned like an owl, he's just looking to the side.
It fits the picture well, Harpsichord and electric guitar are Dave's attacks, rhythmic and powerful, and the Violin is Karkat's attacks, elegant, and complex.
Two styles clash, Dave going for overpower with force, and Karkat going for overwhelm with speed. I think it fits both well.

I think that, unlike everyone, Dave is guitar and Karkat is Violin. Hear me out!!!
As we know, Dave is more layed back, and the instrument played in a more, well, casual style is the Guitar just doing some cords and staying in the back round with few outbursts of Dave's emotions.
Karkat always being angry but still holding his own, got the elligent instrument, to show his inner self, but plays it to be aggressive and try and outshine the thing (Dave) he sees as made to best him (Karkat vs Clover)

I love this damn song. FWI people, this isn't supposed to represent Dave, Karkat, Rose, Jade etc etc.I feel this song represents Homestuck as a whole. The only time Hussie ever used this was to announce the Kickstarter for the Homestuck Adventure Game, along with clips from various flashes from all of Homestuck. Therefore, this song IS Homestuck's theme in my eyes. It has epic fast paced parts, slow emotional parts and everything in between, just like Homestuck itself. Guys, take of the shipping goggles for once in your lives and listen to this song for what it truly is! HOMESTUCK'S GLORIOUS THEME!!!!

I remember a Facebook page admin introduced Homestuck to me after he/she/they posted this picture on their FB page, with them wondering if Karkat and Dave would ever fight. I remember thinking that Karkat was the protagonist of the comic, with Dave being his rival/antagonist.
