The attitude era had conditioned crowds to be lukewarm on the old gimmicks, unless they had been "reinvented" in the attitude era. That crowd remembered Bob at his best, as an absolute madman in the mid 90s. Immediately became Kurt Angle's manager 😂
The thing is I thought the 2002 Royal Rumble returns of Val Venis and The Godfather were good, the problem was that they were totally overshadowed by the returns of *Goldust* and *Mr.Perfect*
Loved the Val Venis return, Austin was just dominating, checking his watch and then Val's music hit. Austin's whole demeanor changed, playtime was over. It was a huge show of respect for Val as even if you were a new fan who didn't know who he was, Austin's reaction let you know that he considered Val to be a legitimate threat.
Idk if this will be on here but I’m sure it will… but anyways I remember as a kid renting the royal rumble 2001 on VHS all the time and always being so confused about who tf Haku was
Haku was in WWF/WWE from 1986 to 1992 working in singles or tag team action he was in quite a few pay per views and was even tag team champion woth Andre The Giant from November 1989 until they lost the titles to Demolition at Wrestlemania 6 in April 1990 .
I met val venis (Sean Morley) a long time ago at a wwe signing event in Phoenix once, and got a handshake and autograph. even as a kid I did not feel star struck at all meeting him & left disappointed.
I don't think I've ever marked out as hard as in 2002 when Goldust returned! Goldust is an absolute superstar and very underrated also fatty Jax should of been man handled by Miss Jacky!
I do like her but we used to call her “no reaction Jacqueline “ and that was at the height of her TV time in the WWE. So I’m happy she got a pop at the rumble at least.
6:32 Oh yes, the audience's creepy erection for Daniel Bryan... Anyone remember the 2017 Royal Rumble? You know, when Daniel Bryan was WWE champion and had a match against AJ Styles? The crowd was as loud as in April of 2020!!!
Speaking of 2014 Royal Rumble, Kevin Nash returned as Diesel, and I don't think anyone ever talked about it. I also don't remember the crowd being interested in the slightest.
If Wright had come back as Papa Shango, I would have lost my shit. And years later when I learned that there WERE plans to bring the character back, it was clearly even more of a lost opportunity.
There needs to be an updated listing for the Worst To Best Elimination Chamber matches, i feel the majority of the lidt wouldn't be the same as it was 6 years later.
Pre-right to censor Val Venis was hilarious. Not the best in the ring, but alright. He was more a character, same as the Godfather. It seems like Right to Censor destroyed them.
They did as Mr. Wright stated he hated playing The Goodfather and you could tell during his matches as Goodfather that he was a not a fan of the gimmick and genuinely felt like his life and soul were sucked out hence why his return to The Godfather gimmick was something he was wanting as he actually enjoyed playing that character as in a interview after he retired about returning to his fan-favorite Attitude Era gimmick he stated that he jumped at the chance to portray the "owner of the Ho Train" again as he enjoyed doing that gimmick and had fun while doing it, but he understood why fans of the previous pre-RTC version didn't like this new somewhat cleaned up version but he still had fun going back to a gimmick he loved playing and has fond memories of portraying.
Val venis had a great look though..he needed a decent gimmick.....they gave him a lower card gimmick..ofcourse a cornstar won't headline Wrestlelamania or win a world title
Val Venis was brilliant in late 2002-mid 2003 as Chief Morley. Then because of his reputation they ended the gimmick and he went back to being an unpushed babyface. Was a good worker in his day with main event potential.
Can you explain what happened? He was pushed a lot as Cheif Morley alongside Eric Bischoff. He was featured prominently in the feud with Stone Cold. Why did he vanish and become Val Venis again?
How do you have some entrants that lasted 2 minutes and a couple others that lasted over 20 minutes making it to the final 4? Sheamus and RVD shouldn’t be on this list
Yes and I remember a 6 man tag match with The Brothers of Destruction and D'Von Dudley vs Christian , Haku and Rikishi . During the match Kane and D'Von did " Wassup " on Christian and the look on Undertaker's face was like WTF . This match is on UA-cam .
The best entrant at number 1 is definitely Benoit but they’ll probably give to Michaels for being the first. At number 2 is Mysterio. 3 is Flair. 28 is Batista as he won it twice with that number. 30 is probably Cena or Taker.
1995 Royal Rumble is one of the worst rumbles of all time. Yes Shawn Michaels won the rumble from the number 1 spot. But with it being every 60 seconds someone comes out ruined it. The rumble was only 35 minutes long. Which is ridiculous. And yes the one foot touch is iconic but it still was a horrible rumble
The 1995 Royal Rumble was awful. I know it's always held up by WWE as incredible because of HBK going from #1 to the end, but there was not much else they could do with that field of participants.
This idea is dead with Vince gone. First Triple H Royal Rumble was dull in 2 ways. No surprises and everyones music sucking so bad you don't know who's generic ass theme is who's.
The fact that RVD entered his 4th Rumble at number 20 is actually hilarious.
And lasted 24 minutes. Also a sum of 420 😂
just because he was busted for weed?
@@arleneconverse1238 check your math

Backlund’s return is constantly featured on Rumble return videos. Him being on the list at all, especially at 1, is crazy.
He received a decent pop from the MSG crowd too. I marked for it at the time.
The attitude era had conditioned crowds to be lukewarm on the old gimmicks, unless they had been "reinvented" in the attitude era. That crowd remembered Bob at his best, as an absolute madman in the mid 90s. Immediately became Kurt Angle's manager 😂
Yeah, even as an eight year old, watching the 93 rumble, I was like "God, how is he still in?"
meh Backlund having a short run isn't unheard of. Remember when he lost the title to Diesel in 10 seconds?
i mark in my pants
The thing is I thought the 2002 Royal Rumble returns of Val Venis and The Godfather were good, the problem was that they were totally overshadowed by the returns of *Goldust* and *Mr.Perfect*
Royal Rumble video in November? This is like playing Mariah Carey in August!
😮you have awoken her
They want the list to also be forgotten
Very meta
Don't. Say. HER NAME.
Next month is December and after December is January so we're basically there
I know it's a meme but people need to know that Mariah Carey has music that isn't holiday-themed
A very out of season rumble video. I'm here for it
Nah, it's just in time for reliving the war.

Goldust has returned in like 4 rumbles. His 2002 elimination is my favorite Rumble elimination of all time.
Goldust is that one wrestler who is just always there 😂 never plays a prominent role but is always somewhere in the background, spanning over decades
Hope Bob Backlund is still training with the pair of Persian Clubs Iron Shiek gave him.
Idk if this will be on here but I’m sure it will… but anyways I remember as a kid renting the royal rumble 2001 on VHS all the time and always being so confused about who tf Haku was

That sticky mention was slick im ngl 😂
Rvd 420 all day dude
I still think the first ever Women's Royal Rumble from 2018 is the best one out of all the women's rumbles
That better had a 4 before that 20 made me chuckle 😂
I think you'll find Haku ripped out 58 eye balls
I met val venis (Sean Morley) a long time ago at a wwe signing event in Phoenix once, and got a handshake and autograph. even as a kid I did not feel star struck at all meeting him & left disappointed.

#10 is best left forgotten altogether these days.
When are you going to rank every royal rumble elimination from worst to best?
Mark Henry in 2017. I had forgotten he had even retired and hadn't been around, so I didn't even register it as a surprise lol
Godfather wore the pants he loaned Taker @ SS in Nov 2000
I Remember all these excellent wrestler
Backlund was in the 1994 , 1995 and 1996 Rumbles as well he didn't last long in 1994 or 1995 and was the first man eliminated in 1996 .
yeah but he was a member of the roster during those years in 2000 he wasn't
I didn't watch 2009 or 2010 Rumble. I wish they told me Edge was coming back, then I'd watch
I can't believe I laughed at that 420 joke. What have I done?
Love the Rick Martel thumbnail 😎
The royal rumble 2002 was the first ppl I watched live
PPV or PLE?
@marvelsProtege ppv
Back in my day they were PPVs!
That rumble had a ton of returns
It was my first pay per view or one of my first I got on tape
THINK ABOUT THIS:
The 1st rumble winner got eliminated by the future most recent rumble winner! That may never happen again!
Obviously it will never happen again because there will never be another very 1st royal rumble...
10:41 Bob Backlund looks so much like The Miz😂
I think MVP in 2020 should’ve been on here
I do like her but we used to call her “no reaction Jacqueline “ and that was at the height of her TV time in the WWE. So I’m happy she got a pop at the rumble at least.
2:04 as underwhelming as this was, aren't those the tights Undertaker borrowed when he faced Kurt Angle at Survivor Series??
I wish WWE would switch up that Basic Royal Rumble Logo. They had this same problem with SummerSlam for many years
@3:45 they actually established that rule on wwe tv. during a raw, HHH said former rumble winners have an open invitation to the rumble.
I’ve seen all from 1980-Now what a life of wrestling throughout the decades many memories
Luck bro. I was born in 2001 so I've been watching since 03 that I can remember
I think Brother Love on his podcast said that Martel only agreed to do that Royal Rumble appearance if it was kept short.. take that for what you will
the godfather actually had a big pop that year!!
DDP’s return in 2015 was so forgettable that you sadly forgot it too!

Mostly cause of how he screwed punk

Could have brought them both back in the same Royal Rumble ala Mick Foley entering 3 times in 1998.

All the suprise entrants in the 2002 RR was revealed by JR on the Raw prior to it
Elijah Burke in 2008. Number 28, so late in the match. Talk about the anti-pop.

How do you have some entrants that lasted 2 minutes and a couple others that lasted over 20 minutes making it to the final 4? Sheamus and RVD shouldn’t be on this list
2002 had 4 awesome returns
Id much rather have returns for the rumble over a bunch of mid card tag teams!
2009 was the first Rumble I watched
Me it's 2008 won by Cena
My first rumble I watched was 2007
2003 was my first! Was so young but great memories. The Rumble that started the HBK v Y2J feud.

Forget about Haku's return at your own risk!
all these years later…Cody Rhodes is even more handsome looking of a man ( just a compliment )
Love Booker, but his last Rumble appearance felt so flat, they should’ve let him do more

So, a talentless former football player is taking a spot in the Rumble as opposed to giving it to someone deserving?
