I hope I’m way off stating big talent and big egos don’t mix. The talent this year is crazy. Let’s leave the funk in Atlantis, turn the ship around. Let’s go Zags!!!!!!!
Given the rebounding struggles, Not playing Ajiyi at all in the 2nd half was a big miss by Zags coaching staff. Also Gregg was gassed in OT. I get playing him more minutes based off his production, but he needed a break.
Huff has to have passed Ike on the depth chart by now, right? I was giving Ike a long leash cuz he was great down the stretch last year, but he looks lost and we’re 5 games in now.
Guards need to man up and not allow themselves to be pushed out to where they are initiating offense from 5+ feet further out than where it initiates when playing efficiently. Also appeared Graham was pressing today and that seemed to affect some shots.
No positives. Out toughed, lack of intention, and had the ability to extend the lead in the first half but just shot ourselves in the foot. Ike is a real issue, Huff needs to start imo. Ajayi also needs to play, and play through those rough stretches. Ajayi will be a difference maker.
Pretty much, they did everything right and we did everything wrong. I don't know what's up with Ike, but he needs to come off the bench and let someone else start cause he just looks lost
@artbank1847 when's he good, he's really good, but when he's bad, he's really bad. On the box score he actually wasn't too bad today, but those two turnovers at the end killed us
@doubleandy yeah for sure, but Gregg looked gassed at the end of the second half and overtime. Few lost us this game by not playing Ike and Ajayi more than he did, Ajayi was playing really well when he played, but Ike did have a rough day so I understand that more than I do keeping Ajayi out as long as he did
Battle and Ajayi, in particular, seem to be struggling to find their place in the system. Their body language suggests they might not be entirely comfortable with how they fit into the team right now. That said, we’ve already seen how well this team can work when everyone plays to their strengths, as they did against Baylor. In that game, every player had their moment and contributed in ways that showcased what they do best. There’s definitely potential for this group to find their rhythm again.
Believed in their own hype and forgot to show up. Hickman is somehow still a liability, ajayi isn't half of what he was, and Huff should start over Ike.
@@Gregheffley1287 ok as someone who has coached Bball for years - what hurts teams is motion and this team when defended with better teams has no motion - they run a high pick and roll or try the post - so simplistic with no answers in tight games - need to move your shooters along the baseline and have screens and movement which opens up the floor for everyone - in the WCC he may be ok - but stepping outside of it is where the challenge comes and he doesn't adapt and hopes his players will do it
ya know, i've been watching BBall since about 1960 and what always sticks out to me is when the favored team gets beat and comes up with a million excuses why they lost but NEVER gives the winning team credit and I am also speaking about Mr Few (i watched his post game). As if, we (WV) didn't win the game, it was given to us by this or that excuse. One of the players interviewed in the same post game interview had enough class to man up and admit WV deserved the win. Wake up and smell the roses people, you lost because WV took you out of your game plan while putting on a nice offensive game especially 2nd half and really in the OT. Truth is Gonzaga probably looked past WV because we haven't beat a good team yet and lost to our rival Pitt by 24 and Gonzaga was favored by 15. Sound like a perfect recipe for an upset? You bet.
Been a bball player and fan since the early 60's also....lots of coaches including Mark Few have given the upsetting team the flowers they deserve...with that said congrates to WV on a fine win!!!
WV played a good game but if Gonzaga had been playing their best game they still would have won. They had the game won at the end of normal play if it hadn't been for three critical errors, 2 by the coaching staff and 1 by Hickman. So yeah, that's why they're saying it was their game to lose. Because it was. Gonzaga was doing poorly on D and 3 of their best players didn't show up. Also, refs were biased during the last minute of the game (prior to OT) in favor of WV and were only calling fouls against one team. WV overperformed, Gonzaga way underperformed and made critical errors at the worst time, refs were biased when it hurt the most.
I do agree that WV planned and executed well and took GU out of their normal flow, and that several of the GU players didn't react well to that - it wasn't easy for them so they kind of gave up. Kudos to WV on that, and some of our players need to learn more toughness and resiliency RE: these things. So that part of this game was actually a gift from WV and I hope our guys take it seriously and learn from it.
I am a Zags fan and a Mark Few fan. Whenever I make this comment, I am accused of not really being a fan. Ok,...not true. I recognize Few's limitations. He's an exceptional tactician and teacher. But, I do not think he is a great leader. Often, when games get tight and especially if the opponent is playing very physical, his lack of leadership is exposed.
Wvu fan here was a great game fun ,to watch some defense finally. You guys have a fantastic team and culture. We just played really hard today ggs.
Gongrats to West Virginia. That was a great win for them.
You said more than Few. I listened to the postgame and never heard him say congrats to WVU.
Thanks we need it after the horrible season last yr!
Great game. Zags will probably lose only a few games they have so much firepower. We just got hot at the right time and played hard
10:30 Battle doesn’t disappear, he just doesn’t get the ball. Pass to him and he will score

Thought they were looking good on D the last few games but this was a major regression. Hope this lights a fire
How many open threes did WV take? Real lack of defensive intensity by Zags
Mountaineers controlled the rebound’s and looked really good. WVU showed Grit tonight.

For me at least the free throws, the play of Huff and Gregg's 2nd half effort are positives
Gotta get Hickman out of here. He blows. He makes everyone around him worse as well

Idk why people act like West Virginia isn’t good

Huff should start today
Where is RON that lipped off on Locked on WV last night?
That coward is no where to be found since the game lmao
Ron is in his safe space right now, sucking his thumb in the fetal position. Let him be; he's had a rough day. 🙃
He’s in a corner sucking his thumb
Hickman lost this game with all his turnovers! Thanks, Hickman!
Sarcasm?

WVU is way better than a lot of people thinks!
Few is a terrible game manager and his lack of offensive movement is always telling in crunch games - cannot coach and motivate a team in the crunch -
That’s the opposite of few
His record says otherwise.....
