I want to addact
believe me , this is the best explanation of th sound so far
I agree with you! In many languages there is no TH sound. She is one of the best teacher.
is "th" the same pronunciation as "dezz"
nuts?
Sorry for the typo at 49:52 -- that should be 'worth!' :)
Hello teacher Raquel, my name is Rosa, tenho acompanhado suas aulas e estou gostando, embora não consiguo entender muita coisa. Bjs.
Yes. I realized that mistake.
16:38 I think these are what we need or I think these what we need?
GRACIAS NO ENTENDI NADA LO QUE DIJO POR Q NO SE INGLES. PERO IMITO LA PRONUNCIACIÓN
You’re really an amazing teacher. I’m speaking English since I’m 6 years old (now 26) and even though I’m pretty fluent I still make mistakes by talking too fast and not minding the th.
Would you please make a video about vocabularies where some letters are silent e.g. the P in dept. I now that word obviously. But maybe you have some more words. Would be so glad. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
Hello Rachel! Thanks for doing this! I've been studying the “th” sound with your video, and it was helpful for me to write down all the words and phrases mentioned to work on them, so I share it with the guys, if you don't mind

1 hour for Th! Realising that learning needs more adventure 🙏
Thanks for watching @miski3389!
You’re really the best channel for pronouncing English on UA-cam. I’ve been struggling with exactly this sound and watched many videos but this one is the first that makes sense to me.
I definitely agree!
You're one of my best teachers.
the same to me.
As a kid, the th sound was the most difficult sound to learn when I underwent speech therapy after an operation I had on my throat..........now that I have turned 52 years old, the th sound is easy to me. Wish you were around back in 1974 when I had the speech therapy.........
Thanks for sharing @ellenross6828!

Thank you so much teacher.
Perfect lesson.
I like it,
It's better than I thought. 👍
The best teaching video of pronunciation, and I hope to learn more from this practical channel.
As an Australian who knows English obviously, it’s good to know that there are people out there helping and teaching others to learn sounds and words☺️
Thank you!
Extraordinary explained. No stress at all to understand.
Fascinating to see this as a native Englishman. Your explanation is remarkably accurate with the tongue placement. Well done and well taught.
Glad to hear that @CaptainValian!
The best teacher for pronunciation of English.
I have been watching videos teaching both American and British English. By far, your teaching methods are really, practical, realistic and modern! I believe all languages should be taught this way. You're awesome!
Glad to hear that!
Tu eres la mejor porque enseñas lo que en otras academias jamas enseñaran ...el ritmo del ingles...solo enseñan palabras..you are the best🇦🇲🇦🇲🌺🌺
Great video! I'm a new teacher and you teach this so well!! Amazing thought and time put into it.
That was epic, thank you so much.
Thank you so much Rachel for this awesome video! I've always had some issues with this sound, but with your help it feels a lot easier and I'm more confident when I speak. I'll definitely continue practicing to master the prononciation...
Thank you so much for this lesson. You are a great teacher
Wow I like very much this new way to teach us the "th" sound.
It is unique and absolutely fantastic!!! As a native French speaker, these sounds are the most difficult for me to pronounce. Your patience and the way you show it is extremely helpful in correcting us. A huge THANK YOU! 🤩 👏🏻
Pardon me, I have something to add. Why are there two different pronunciations for "either" and "neither" ?
You're welcome MC!
Unfortunately there is not a clear or agreed upon reason for the two pronunciations - just a random change over time!
Thank you for that clarification!😊
Dear Rachel, this is a special video, thanks a lot! I've learned so much about how to pronounce "th" sounds. God bless you!
Please tell me if you have another video where I could see you pronouncing a lot of words with «d» and «t» ending.
Hi! While it's not necessarily specifically about D and T endings - I think you will learn a lot about topic by checking out my ED ending series. Here you go: ua-cam.com/play/PLrqHrGoMJdTSV-a4heKi36Ta1khpKBt-C.html
Thank you for this excellent class, I'm really in the right way to improve my pronunciation.
the best teacher I've ever met. Thanks Rachel
You're welcome Eugene!
Thank you so much for teaching us the pronunciation of this very complicated, frustrating th sound. I especially like your showing the actual mouth and lip pronouncing the word. It helped a lot!!!
You're very welcome Mi!
Rachel is the best English teacher I have ever met and she will be in my life time!
Thanks I ol
Just the kind of exercise I needed. Thanks!
Thank you Rachel! I have been working on TH sound for the last couple of months. While I can make the sound for individual words, it hardly becomes easy when it comes to speaking. This is because we need to move tongue from one position to another quickly to make the TH sound, be it voiced or unvoiced. Your trick of unstressed TH sound has made it much easier for me. Thank you again.
You're so welcome Rupon!

I often got comments on my UA-cam videos saying I have a strong foreign accent. I'm watching your videos to sound more American! I hope in a couple of months I will be able to speak much more fluent :) Thank you for your help ! Especially the TH-sound is new to me.

You help me a lot
We need a video like this for the R sound. I'm really ahead in my pronunciation thanks to your videos, but the R sound is the hardest in words like car, part, party. Words that start with R are fine. I can say all of these sounds now really good, it's just that my tongue strains on the R in these words, it's still unnatural. TH is no problem.
Finally... I found a video of a sound that I know how to pronounce, but the majority of the world does not know how to pronounce. Now I know how the Spanish speakers in trilled R comments feel.
As an American, here I'll try to explain the th sound.
The tip of your tongue (very front part) is sorta in your mouth but doesn't go past the lip entrance. The top part of the tip of your tongue should be touching your top teeth very softly and slightly but still there should be space in between the tongue and the teeth for the air to come out, not much space is needed. Then, blow air and lower your tongue a little bit. If I explained this correctly, the th sound should be made.
The th for the and the th for weather are a bit different, the th sound in weather has the tip of the tongue touching the lower back of the upper teeth, but the tongue still sorta goes past the teeth but not as much as the th in the.
Good luck to y'all who are learning the th sound! :D
Thanks a lot for sharing Kea!
Awesome 😎 lesson ! Thank you 🙏 Your academy is freaking awesome 👏 Your knowledge is better than Mine absolutely!!! Thank you 🙏
That is an awesome episode. thank you so much
I almost had a stroke while trying to pronounce "eleventh birthday, twelfth birthday, and thirteenth birthday." 😂 Also, words like "thrill" with L in the end, or even in the middle, like "eleventh," are so difficult for me as a Brazilian. I love how incredibly detailed you are! 😃
Hello
I was thinking that I was only one here to watching this video
Thank you so much Rachel!!! I'm from Brazil and I'm learning English by myself and your video is helping me a lot to pronounce the words correctly

You're very welcome Lance!
I love it. I am Brazilian and I get to make the th in both words "than" and "thought"
Thanks! I'm Swedish and this was really helpfull me to me since I'm using American English!
What a truly fantastic video (and UA-cam channel)! It is with the utmost admiration that I do feel compelled to point out what appears to be an ever so slight slip of the tongue at timestamp 8:15 (/kst/ instead of /ks/). Personally, I heard "Let your face completely relaxed." /rɪˈlækst/ rather than one of the following: [A] Let your face completely relax. [B] Allow your face to completely relax. [C] (Make sure to) completely relax your face. [D] Keep your face completely relaxed. [E] Leave your face completely relaxed. etc. If 8:15 isn't a slip of the tongue (which btw can happen to the best of us), it would lead us to seriously put into question the use of the verb 'to let' vs the verb 'to leave'. Final remark for the sake of beginner students: 'worth' is not spelled 'woth' 49:52; this is simply a typo. In any case, many thanks for having created hours and hours of practically flawless content for all to enjoy. Mega thumbs up; your channel remains my #1 pick in its category! Happy learning/teaching y'all^^.
I find this so fascinating! This is some good language learning content. I'm already 10 minutes in even though grew up in the United States and speak English fluently.
Thanks a lot Jay!

Thank you very much Rachel, you are doing a great job for us. It’s a pity that I live in Michigan and this is far from your place, I dream of studying with a teacher like you! I enjoy listening to this video, since the pronunciation of these sounds is quite difficult for me. My native Russian language.
Awesome! Thanks for watching Ольга!
Hello 👋 how are you doing today
Although my native tongue, Dutch, doesn't have the sounds, discussed in this video, I am quite familiar with them. One of them, [θ], I also saw in Spanish Spanish (Spanish spoken in Spain, not in Latin America or Southern USA).
8:58-9:15 But I never realised that [ð] could be assimilated to the following vowel based on being stressed or not stressed. I am used to use more precise IPA (according to your actual pronunciation or how you are describing it right now), so the IPA notation would be [ð̠] (retracted) or [ð̪] (dental).
Thank you so much.
Jesus, that's what I needed all the time! Thank you so much!
