I understand that presentations are important for referring to previous motions, actions, etc., but when the government has single digit passing rates, it shows that Congress is unable to get meaningful things done.

Working towards removing anyone from the legislative houses who would vote against impeaching Thomas & Alito. Encourage Americans to write to their representatives and senators & ask if they would consider voting yay, And if not, vote against them and help get them defeated when they're up for re-election.
Why are these justices allowed to receive gifts?! When I was in the military, I was told repeatedly that I wasn’t allowed to receive gifts and that if I did, that I should disclose immediately.
That’s the most frustrating part of all of this: They AREN’T. The problem is that the mechanisms in place to punish them for this kind of misconduct don’t have nearly the teeth that they should.
From what I understand, they are required to disclose gifts over a certain dollar amount, but the problem is the court is expected to hold itself accountable for doing this. Because no one is checking, it's very easy to not report the gifts. Find John Oliver's episode on Clarence Thomas. It is a masterpiece.
Whenever Federal Judges (including the Supreme Court) break these rules it is Congress' job to impeach them, just like she is trying to do now.
Federal employees technically aren't even supposed accept a ride from a government contractor to the _same meeting_ in order to avoid the appearance of favors and gift giving. I've never understood why Congressional members and Justices not only have higher thresholds for gifts they can legally receive, but also why they could neglect to report those gifts and trips and have no automatic consequences for it. It's ridiculous.
Well you see, it's different when you're a greedy aristocrat. Common serfs like us don't get to have nice things.

So you want the courts to be controlled entirely by whomever has the majority opinion in America. And you want justices that ignore their constitutional obligations to rule in favor of the majority opinion? Why is it Dems always want the change the rules when they don't get what they want? What happens when that court becomes beholden to people YOU don't like?
You know there is a problem in these proceedings when it is such a pertinent and important issue and the place is empty of the representatives and seats that should mandatory be present but are not.
All those who refused and failed to show up should be removed from their seats as failure to do their jobs as elected and appointed officials.
What a disgrace. I am not a AOC fan necessarily, there's things she believes and holds to that I completely disagree with. But in this case and cause she is 100% correct and on point. And I support it completely.
It is my opinion that any and all cases viewed and given opinion upon and decided by these two judges should be overturned and held to be reviewed and redone at a future date once the two new vacated seats are filled by new appointees.
It is like any corrupt judge or whatever who's cases are found to be refilled by their corruption. The cases are retired, the sentencing or results suspended and redone. All the cases of their past are now subject to scrutiny.
So be it for these two.. everything they were involved in now needs to be scrutinized and looked into...every single case...every single decision made. At minimum all such decisions are at minimum suspended and or overturned.
Then start looking into all the rest of them.
We definitely need term limits.. for all positions and definitely set limits of service in government period

I still remember the first time I saw the statue of Lady Justice, I remember my very conservative mother explaining to me why she carried scales, why she was blindfolded. I am deeply grieved that the highest court would so undermine those ideals, so undermine the guarantee we all attest when we pledge our allegiance, that there would be justice for all. (Yes I’m fully aware that’s always been at best aspirational in reality)

@@mitchellbratton6617 While what you say is true, in this case how we feel doesn't matter. There is no direct accountability to the people by Supreme Court justices. Republicans in the House and Senate will never remove them, so this is a futile effort. People need to get more active in holding congress accountable, then maybe in the future, justices will have to act ethically. Either that, or we have to amend the constitution to get the court back under control.
