Why Buy? The Geo Metro Convertible, an objectively bad car, and why you should own one!

- After owning this '92 Metro Convertible, I talk about what it's bad at (most things) but also what it's good for (a few worth while things).
I have this same spec and color. I GENUINELY hate how people view these cars as things to just destroy. Are they fast, no. Are they safe, no.
But boy do they have character.
ive got a gold 98 metro and its the best thing ever. just drove it to san diego and back averaging 46mpg.
I'm still driving my 98 metro I bought new. Best little gutless wonder ever made. It has hit 3 deer, been jumped a couple dozen times and had the snot run out of its and still going.
Easy to photograph from inside.
Cool date car - if you have your date sign a release form first.
Needs a big triangle sign on the back.
Love my 91 geo convert. It's the perfect weekend cruiser in rural Wisconsin! With gas prices going back up I may start driving it even more
I love my 93 in Wisconsin I just wish it wasn't such a pile of crap if I could afford to get the thing fully restored I wouldn't hesitate
I fixed the handling problem on my '92 Convert by installing the front & rear sway bars from the later model 4 door hatchback. The convertible Metros oddly didn't come with anti-sway bars. It made a BIG difference in cornering ability.
Oh man, I bet. Good call on the sway bars.
Always wanted in but was embarrassed to own one because I’m tall. But now with gas prices in 2023. This would be great for a work car but still it’s not safe if I get hit.
Had 3 Metros matches, 2x 94's, 1x 96... LOVED them all... Awesome cars. Great gas mileage, super fun to drive despite being slow... These cars can handle better than you think. Can also confirm they're safer than you think...
1st 94, got hit head on by a 45-50mph 2007 Chevy Cobalt... 2nd 94, got rear ended by a 55-60+ mph 2007 Chevy Cobalt (how 'bout that..?)... Survived both wrecks with minor injuries. Wish they made cars like this again.
I had a '93 white convertible! Loved it and it was my 1st new car!
Everything mentioned is spot on! Met more people because of it!
I’d love to buy a Metro Convertible with low miles and a standard shift
promise you its only getting compliments because of the paint job + livery. The whole package. A plain jane red one wouldn't get the same reaction
*IS THIS THE EXACT SAME CAR THAT DOUG DEMURO REVIEWED EARLIER!!????*
Sure is! The world's most famous Metro vert?!
@@ThePhotographersGarage I hope so!!!
I really want one now....
The meme on wheels is a crowd pleaser
There are Geo Metro clubs on Facebook check it out
I had the Canadian version. Pontiac Firefly. Same colour as this one. I had the three speed automatic. Turtles could pass me! Going up a hill it would kick down into second. Top speed top up was 87mph. Top down 84 mph. Put 123 000 miles on it and replaced the tires and brakes once. No other repairs. Just regular maintenance. It shivered and shook like a wet dog, and I enjoyed it very much. You could easily get four people in it if the ones in the back sat backwards and stretched their legs into the trunk. It would hold four cases of beer, two toothbrushes, and one pretty woman for the weekend. Only sold it when it rusted out.
Be still my beating heart
Your right on everything it's a super cheap car to drive and repair! mine only comes out only when it's sunny and warm people stare at it not knowing what it is some laugh asking themselves what's that still doing on the road
I got mine about 12 years ago it's got a 1.3 liter 4 cylinders engine with about 70 hp so it'll move better than the 3 cylinders
Overall it's a great inexpensive car to own and drive which means you don't need to spend alot of money to enjoy yourself and there are Geo Metro clubs that are very useful with tons of info on the car!
I use to have a "Big Block" metro, last year they made them, it had every option you could get..... which wasn't that many.
ive had a million different cars including a couple of these definately top of my list great little cars never break allways look fun and cool
What are you on about the structural rigidity. There is an extra floor bar added over the hatch and the rear quarters have a steel structure that go to the back rear wheel wells behind the bumper....
The convertible is fun slow car to drive in the summer nights with the top down. I still have one
Exactly, the slomo summer cruiser
Is this the 'Doug Demuro' reviewed Geo?
Yep! Same exact car. Driving it down to Doug in SD from up here in the SF Bay Area was... interesting. Lol
fuck i wish i could have seen this in time to buy it, even has the geo hubcaps
These were Wonderful cars! Yes we get it its an economy car with a 3 cyl. Ive owned 2 of these I was getting 53 MPGs Did you sell it?
So on a drive down to San Diego averaging like 75mph I got 41.5mpg, but it did best 50mpg on more reasonable speeds
Is this one that Doug DeMuro reviewed? looks the same
Yep! I drove it down to SD for him to review it. He's a good dude
Do you still own it?
If so when you are ready to sell it please let me know.
You can bid it, and buy it, only on cars and bids
6:19 haha Carquinez bridge ?? Right by cal maritime?
Yep! Sure is
It’s an amazing car
It'll work.long as it stops I'm good.Ok maybe not.I don't drive manual.
Someone should put a 100hp one liter motorcycle into this thing.
That would be super cool, but MAN would it be a handful trying to do anything other than merging onto the freeway. 100hp isn't much but the chassis, brakes, and suspension are in no way able to handle "that much power".
@@ThePhotographersGarage 30 HP
Imma stick a turbo in it
Perfect car for Door Dashing
Find a home for that bad boy yet?? I have a red one and a white one, and the Patriot in me needs a blue one!! :) plus my other 2 don't have air conditioning.
Yep, long ago
Best of luck
