Ultimately watching this like watching my parents wedding video, fascinating to find and not realizing what is available.

@@MutleeIsTheAntiGod yeah I found out about that a few weeks after the upload of the video. I think it's amazing that kenny's work brought so much interest for this OVA. We should all be grateful for that
No problem. There's a LOT of anime in that genre. Look up bosozoku anime too while your at it. There's a whole genre of biker anime that don't get much love.
Man, you're doing God's work digging out these hidden anime treasures. I hope you can find out what happened to Chironupp no Kitsune and why this anime never got any home media releases. Originally shown in theaters in 1987 it only aired on TV a few times up till early 90's and since then it disappeared completely. At least we have someone's low quality VHS recording of it available for download so it's not completely lost, but there's also a picture book release with high quality screenshots from the anime and it always frustrates me that we'll never see the film in quality as good as those pics.
It’s a shame when lost media ends up being forgotten to time and especially one that holds up really well. Glad it was found and if a laser disc version actually does exist, Ferb, I know what we’re gonna do today.
Dude your fucking Legend I can't believe you went through all that just for lost media. This gets you thinking what if the best anime ever is lost in time.
He only watches legal physical copies of anime, so i doubt he'd illegally rip an anime, even in a case like this where uploading it somewhere for historical purposes would help it not become lost media.
that's what cross my mind during this whole video... I know about legal issues and what not but c'mon in this case who fucking cares!!!! I always said since years and years ago that SHARING is NOT piracy!!!!!!!! We could totally argue the fact that he got the copy by some1 illegally as he didn't paid for it and watched it for free therefore he committed a crime. That sound totally stupid if you think about it but that's how they disguise "sharing" with the "piracy" label. (and I do know there are people who abuse of internet and sell illegal copies of media for own profit and yes THAT is piracy... but there's always gonna be people doing the wrong we can't do nothing about it, not for that we should stop "sharing" stuff between people who cares about the media and have no way to access to it other then by someone sharing / letting them said media)
I LOVE your dedication to the lost and obscure. I've watched enough of your videos now that I get recommended on my home page even though I wasn't subscribed. So I subscribed! 😊 I can't wait to see whatever lost media you drag back for our viewing pleasure. Cheers!!!
I love watching ur channel, i feel nostalgic when i see an older anime. my dad use to come home with all sorts of anime when i was a kid. dont get me wrong its great to see how strong anime is getting, and to have a pick of any anime you want from wats coming out, but i miss when there was the small anime group at school, and only a handful of ppl watched anime. it felt like we had a closer relationship and most anime that we could get our hands on were pretty good.(there r of course some complaints) I'm sure its the nostalgia talking.
PLEASE whoever owns this VHS tape, PLEASE UPLOAD THIS ANIME IF YOU CAN!!!! I LOVE GIRLS IN LONG SKIRTS KICKING ASS AND I WANNA SEE THE REST OF THIS SO BAAAAAD!!!!!!!!!!
there needs to be people who archives those things in forums or stuff like that... old anime and games or game mods sometimes were awesome jewels but sites shuts down and tapes disappears or wears out... so i hope you sparked interest in people to group together to rebuild this series into a whole package! an anime does not have to be good or great to be kept, it just should not die off in emptiness.

It's nice to see a lost piece of history being covered and dug into
This is why I turn that notification bell on for your channel
Hot damn dude... At this point you're either blessed or cursed by forgotten anime old gods... And well, at least it was worth it :3
And not gonna lie, I've seen a lot of your videos about lost media first only then to find the Mangas, screenshots and other media appear a couple of days after... So I think you're doing a great job in bringing this media back into the spotlight...
You are a legend of a researcher. This anime looks amazing honestly but Im a sucker for 1980s anime. Appreciate you doing what you do and making this video
Random Trivia! Kenji Kawaii also composed music for some parts of Ranma 1/2, which had a character named Ukyou Kuonji who was also voiced by Hiromi Tsuru.

Well, I guess now we have to wait for someone else to find a second tape and actually rip it so that we would be able to watch this.
Until it's leaked online, it's still in the danger of being lost.
There is currently one tape on the japanese amazon. Just buy and do it, then you wont have to wait.
The Glass Man www10.gogoanime.io/hana-no-asukagumi-2-lonely-cats-battle-royale-episode-1 it’s actually online!
Seeing this lost anime is like opening an Egyptian tomb
10:17 Kenji Kawai's work is all over the place at this point. The dude is one hell of a composer, among his many, MANY works he created and scored all of the music for the six part documentary series "Apocalypse: World War 2"

Kenny is the god for us lost media lovers. Something about being unable to watch something is really eerie. Like a house in your old town being gone when you come back for a visit.
Kenny you have to post this show online. It's the only way to keep it from being lost media.
Thank you for bringing in these lost anime films. The 80s was the golden age of anime. For purposes of learning and appreciation, I'm looking forward to your future features.
Hey Kenny - I'm a huge fan of Hana no Asukagumi and the other series in it's vein. Been collecting for years, and bought the CD soundtrack of Lonely Cats Battle Royale last time I was in Tokyo. I thought I was the only one who even cared about these shows, in all their formats, so just wanted to thank you for finally discovering this fantastical tidbit of the anime lost!
Bro great vid always love how you're so dedicated to retro and 80s Japanese stuff, don't blame ya, it was truly too amazing, keep doing whatchu do bro love it 🙏🙏😍😍
This sort of "lost" stuff certainly should be archived on the interwebs. Shared to fan-subbers and spread across the globe .
You're doing the lord's work. I constantly prowl for anime VHS tapes online, at thrift stores, and flea markets. There's nothing like the classic stuff. Unfortunately some of the more obscure stuff that was at one point posted on UA-cam has been purged by copyright claims. Thanks so much for making this video.
No problem. It was fun, even if I did mispronounce a few words.
Please, for the love of God, put a download or torrent for this somewhere online. We need this.
www9.gogoanime.io/hana-no-asukagumi-2-lonely-cats-battle-royale-episode-1 it's currently online if you still wanna watch it
@@welcometohell3002 Yea its not too hard to find. People don't know how to search correctly. THrough torrents or steams. For digital anyway, duno about physical.
The concept of someone being the #1 target of competing gangs, and being oblivious for a while to that entire thing, is actually pretty awesome.
so like clearly you did a digital rip of that vhs, any chance youre gonna share your findings with the class?
Dude yes

I believe there needs to be re-introductions to lost anime that people probably never heard of.
Just go watch 'Fantastic Children' 💁
Valet I did. I’m not sure what to think about that anime.
@@animechic420 well, it's my #1 favorite anime, the best adventure story I've ever seen. So there's that. Ofc you have to accept the old, 'childish' artstyle.
Valet The art was fine, the story was somewhat followable, but maybe the reason I couldn’t get into it is because the English cast was ass.
@@animechic420 omg, why watch any anime with english dub?! English and anime don't go together well :(
Sorry it ruined this masterpiece.
That commet about VHS tapes not lasting forever might've just lit a fire under my ass about checking on/digitizing my copy of the original dub of my neighbor totoro. I'm sure its already out there somewhere online but I'm sentimental.
The lengths you went to look up this anime and find it are incredible. Congrats on finding it (or getting it magically somehow sent to you, also amazing), very cool!
This whole ordeal sound like Kenny make a pact with Satan
No, it was the Laughing Salesman
I am truly honoured to be one of the first 1400 people to see this anime in 30 years.
Also delinquent girls is my new favourite. Thing.
"I don't know how UA-cam actually works these days" Neither does UA-cam.
Watching this gives me shivers!
I feel like I'm watching someone making (anime) history! Steppint where none ever stepped before! Watching what no human eye has ever witnessed!
I feel great :D
Watching this channel about lost media feels a lot like what me and my sister did as kids when we dug through the vhs tape collection under our tv cabinet. It was always an adventure where we dug through films that haven't seen the light of day in decades probably. Ultimately watching this like watching my parents wedding video, fascinating to find and not realizing what is available.
Please bro, just ask the guy who lent you the VHS for the permission to share it.
I can't be the only one that really wants to watch the OVA entirely!!!
It's on Nyaa
@@MutleeIsTheAntiGod yeah I found out about that a few weeks after the upload of the video. I think it's amazing that kenny's work brought so much interest for this OVA. We should all be grateful for that
@@MutleeIsTheAntiGod Link to the OVA? :')
@@xoxomoonbeaniexoxo2566 its since been uploaded to youtube! If you search the name on UA-cam you can find the first and second ova
That's not how copyright works
Your channel got me into checking out the Sukeban sub-genre. It’s a lot of fun. Thanks for your contribution to the anime community, Kenny.
No problem. There's a LOT of anime in that genre. Look up bosozoku anime too while your at it. There's a whole genre of biker anime that don't get much love.
THIS is why I subscribed to kenny lauderdale! Only he can find this stuff!
Looks like Langley Soryu is now the second most bad-ass Asuka in anime.
If getting (mind)raped by an eldritch abomination makes you badass, there probably are more badass hentai-characters out there....
I do remember seeing the clip at 5:44 as a gif on Tumblr around 2015, but I never knew what it was from.
Dude your fucking Legend I can't believe you went through all that just for lost media.
This gets you thinking what if the best anime ever is lost in time.
Id actually love to watch this series! Anime or regular TV show!
Thank you to the kind soul that lent this video! These lost media videos are the best!
Please upload this piece of media. That way everyone can watch it.
So...are you gonna upload the anime so everyone can watch or not
He only watches legal physical copies of anime, so i doubt he'd illegally rip an anime, even in a case like this where uploading it somewhere for historical purposes would help it not become lost media.
Guys how do you think he got the footage? He had to have ripped it.
yeah... would've been cool but he probably won't... i guess it stays lost then.
that's what cross my mind during this whole video...

Thanks, that means a lot.
Making lost media unlost is such a heroic thing 🙂
am I missing something or did he NOT release it?
I can not get enough of the summaries of old anime, keep up the informative work!
It's definitely the nostalgia talking 😂😂
Anime is way more accessible these days
The sheer rarity of this warrants no small degree of historical preservation. This is for the sake of history, after all!

And he's also someone that digs up forgotten and sometimes buried media for our internet pleasure. It's a conspiracy.
there needs to be people who archives those things in forums or stuff like that... old anime and games or game mods sometimes were awesome jewels but sites shuts down and tapes disappears or wears out... so i hope you sparked interest in people to group together to rebuild this series into a whole package! an anime does not have to be good or great to be kept, it just should not die off in emptiness.
Next you need to find the lost JoJo OVA from 2007.
It's a theatrical film, not an OVA.
OVA is an animation format, not a class of television serial.
Woah now I wanna find it
This animes looks interesting I like to see a remake like Dororo I’m kinda sick of high school ecchi I hate them
