Cont'd: ..to be in real, full contact sports. When I first saw this I didnt understand the rules but I thought it looked pretty cool with the whole artsy aspect and how much fun they had. Then I understood more of the rules from these docus and I gotta say that this sport seems really frickin awesome! Its a real sport for real women that dont need to hold back because of stereotypes. I love the DIY aspect, keeps it about the sport and not about fame or money! Fucking. awesome!
Also I think youre getting more international! There was an interesting interview with a derby girl here on national radio in Sweden that I heard, seems theres a fair following here too! She said you yanks are still best tho :> Anyways sorry bout this long post but I really wanted to put forth my views and say that this gotta be the best womens team sport there is bar none.
Damn I gotta say that 1-2 years ago I didnt know this sport existed. Im a guy who did sports all my life (so far) including hockey, martial arts and other full contact stuff. Basically I havent really been interested in watching much of women's team . This is not because I have some opinion that women cant or shouldnt play sports, far from it. But I think that womens sports often are so watered down and plays along with the whole stereotype that women are too "fragile"...
Yes, biggest female sport. However, that kind of leaves out the men who play as well as those who are transgender, no gender, or a variety of other identifications. It's just an extremely fast growing sport- lets leave it there.
Oh My God, you inspired me so much! I already do Roller Derby, in Guadalajara México. You're just so awesome, You have a Big big fan In here. (:
I play jr roller derby. Yes its just as hard and have the same rules and what not but this is a great film.
