Für Elise/ For Elise - Ludwig van Beethoven

- "Für Elise" (For Elise) is the popular name of one of Ludwig van Beethoven's (1770-1827) most popular compositions.
the Bagatelle in A minor (WoO 59 and Bia 515) for solo piano, marked poco moto, dated 27 April 1810. The original autographed manuscript has been lost and the piece itself was not published until 1865.
It is not certain who "Elise" was. Some scholars have suggested she was Beethoven's fifth mistress, while others have suggested that the discoverer of the piece, Ludwig Nohl, may have transcribed the title incorrectly and the original work may have been named "Für Therese"
Elise must be a pretty special woman to have probably the most well known and mesmerizing piece of music dedicated to her.
She was a little girl and he forgot her b-day present so he wrote this song for her. That's what I heard.
***** I assume he was really bad at spelling then...
@@elwira20zofia beethoven was never married
@@DavidS_Tan "Wanted to marry" He never did tho, Therese was one of his students but she wasn't really good at playing piano so he did this for her, so even her can play it, but later on he discovered she was with someone else(I forgot who) so he made the song more complicated later on. Same happened with Moonlight.
@@elwira20zofia Ludwig van Beethoven never had a child of his own.
Finally! a recording of this exquisite song played at the RIGHT speed, most people play this at about 120% speed. Thanks SO MUCH for uploading this!!
God bless you all!
This. Idk why people ruin it by playing it faster.
RIP, to those who dislike for such beautiful Melody like this, they don't know how to taste music.
It is a beautiful song I love it It's also amazing how Beethoven could play such a wonderful song being deaf God really gave him a gift!!
cant people have opinions not everyone likes this song
That's why they removed dislikes

@@deparition ofc they can but only morons prefer modern music over classical
shame this song was discovered 40 years after beethovens death. i have a feeling this piece meant a great deal to him. most likely wanted to keep it to himself. "elise" whom this piece is dedicated is Therese Malfatti. beethoven actually proposed to her but was rejected. do you hear the bittersweetness in the song? truly put his emotions into this. bravo.
Actually elise was a a lady who he rented a room fr.. he wrote this on a window shutter. A gave it to her as a thankyou for her hostility.
Fuck, I'm literally about to tear up lol
Yeah
I’m kinda young but I’m starting to fall in love with all types of misic
The song was written for her and he made the beginning easy so she could play it, but when he found out that she was engaged to another man, he wrote the rest of the song to where she wouldn't be able to play it.
how can anyone hate?!?!
this german genus is better than anyone else in the modern world and he wus deaf!
He was deaf only later on though.
hes still awesome in all
he started losing hearing since end of his 20s... 1811 he was unable to play on stage
It's pretty sad, though.
His ears had enough of awesome music >.
I'm not a musical connoisseur or that much into classical piano. However, this particular song haunts me to my core in such a good way. I'm currently learning it for my daughters 18th birthday. Beautiful.
Elise was his first love and his first heartbreak
This has my heart. It is just so different than the rest of the pieces. It keeps you relaxed yet keeps you restless. It's just wow. Wish I could see him perform live.
It's hard
You can bro he's going on tour in 2 months you can still grab your tickets if you move fast
For some reason I always cry when I hear this song...
Even when I was little, i cried. I remember crying in front of a red music box that used to play this.
It sounds so Nostalgic...
Same
i remember when it first came out
very nostalgic indeed...
Same!
Same, I remember I cried when I was little I heard this song on this pooh bear thing that clipped on something like a crib or whatever. It projected scenes and played music this song being one.
You can feel emotion in this music without any lyrics
Yeah it’s fuxkn sad
When I was 4 my grandfather used to play this composition in a blue musical box,and i was always enjoing hearing this❤️
@Tanvir Hasan turkey? Because of "Tesler"
Man I think you're 30 or 24 now?
@@boom6143 I'm actually 21 now, and I'm from Romania. Tesler has some german influence as my grandfather told me once...

How is it possible to not like this? This is the most beautiful piece of music ever written.
i first heard this song in 4th grade and i instantly fell in love with it this song is true art
If no one cares, why you reply..?
You care a lot, you care a lot that you even replied.
Have a nice day ^^
Same for me. I have always loved this song
I love this song.
But unlike everyone else here, I cannot play piano.
Sandvich Mann Hey, neither can I. Well...I can memorize keys, but I cannot read music and play at the same time. I took lessons for a while, but got bored eventually, so yeah...

How about Sam Butera & The Witnesses - Let The Good Times Roll?
+Maksim Belokobylko who give a fuck if you are 14...
Maksim Belokobylko He has a point, despite how rude he sounded making it. There seems to be some sort of belief that if you listen to classical music, you're more prestigious or etiquettical. However true or untrue this may be, to announce it to the world, then proclaim you have a young age simply makes you sound snobbish. I guess what I'm saying is that nobody really cares how old you are, just sit back and enjoy the music.
This music make everyone to think about " loneliness"...beethoven felt "lonely" that is his clear message through this tune..love ❤ him
So, funny story about this song. Beethoven wrote it because he had a crush on one of his beginner students, so he wrote the first half to be really easy, so she could play it. When he confessed to her and she turned him down, he wrote the second half of the song to be really hard, so she could never play it.
Interesting
From where you got this information.. Could you please share??
damn elise is lucky af
yes she was or this is what my music teacher told me and my classmates before playing the song on her piano.
well it was a newer music teacher who replaced one of my older music teachers but that's not the point.
but Elise was one of Beethoven's students in i think piano lessons i don't have the greatest memory.
yes she was the best of all his students or that's what i remember.
ban Misha / Mishovy silenosti Actually she was Beethovens first love interest she became pregnat with his baby but then married his brother and they wanted to meet up but Beethoven was in a crash so he didnt come and some years later he wrote this for her on his deathbed.Youre welcome.
the song is actually not about someone named elise... Lol it sounds weird but it tru doe xD
shitpost Omar S Ha!
shitpost Omar S therese was my doctor's daughter...
i get that people are disregarding newer music opposed to pieces like this, but you have to think that this kind of music during the Beethoven era *was* the popular music of the time. you have to think, in 100 years, people will think that our music was an art form and was as beautiful as we think music like this is. so, really, all music is art. so appreciate what you have and what society grants you with.
Lots of comments on here disparaging rap for some reason. If your going to make the point that music like this has a lot of character and soul to it, wheras other music (I.E commercialized, plastic music that is designed to be a consumable product and nothing more) doesnt hit the mark like this, that's great and i agree. But, there's lots of rap and hip hop out there that is REAL music. If you don't dig it that's cool, but air your grevancies specifically, don't lambast a whole genera because of a phenomenon that affects all other genras today.
But yeah, beethoven is dope.
i personally think mumble rap, and all this new school stuff is terrible, because you cant understand what they are saying and its usually degrading content, not that old school stuff didnt have degrading content but the point im trying to make is that rap used to be excellent when the rappers actually wrote true lyrics that reflected their lives, struggles and achievements. unfortunately now its easier to just mumble about bitches and lean.
Well that's what happens when everyone labels mumble rap and trash rap together.. they are two separate genres.. you can see and feel real poets from fake trash. If you can't then maybe it's not your genre.
lol 6ix 9ine took music so differently
Brendan O'Toole
Dru Down actually used this very music on the track 'earhustlers'
Dallas Fafard Mumble rap is trash rap.
Such elegance. I might be 10 but I love it so much
Now you're 14 happy birthday ❤️😅
ayo ur 14 now
Ur 14 now! and I'm 11 and i also love it a lot
Your 14 now congrats
You 15 now
How can someone dislike such a beautiful masterpiece.. disappointing!
my wife and I have been married for 19 years but we went through a ruff patch 20 years ago and she never told me she played piano . she played this and made everyone in the piano store stand still and won my heart.
You are lucky person..cherish her
Relaxing yet scary.
How
True
How
I don’t think so I think is beautiful
I thought i was the only one who was scared of this for some reason
I don't understand how society went from music as beautiful as this, to twerking and swearing. ( Que the comments saying I'm 4 years old and I'm too sensitive and need to lighten up! ) This is real art, and I would have loved to be living in the times of Ludwig Van Beethoven but unfortunately, I have to live in the era of immaturity and violence.
Cue *
tompiggy Yea the royal families weren't so innocent..... but world conditions were MUCH BETTER.
Are you nuts?! In that time women were treated like an object, didn't have rights or independence. And you still can listen to the good music nowadays, you don't need going back to past for this.
I'm not a fan of rap either but you can't denounce a generation of cures and exploration just because you like old music. You also don't really have to look that hard for good music (whatever genre you fancy) in the modern era
Immaturaty and violence? They had slaves back then and women had as many rights as horses.
Classical is so underrated in modern times. Honestly, its talent and creativity in such a pure form. This man was one of the best
I named my daughter after this piece of music
Hi elise
When I was a little girl, for Christmas my mother gave me a jewelry box and when you opened the box, this song played and a little ballerina twirled in a circle. I would have to wind it up at the bottom. It was a beautiful melody then and still now it makes me long for childhood again.
i wish i was elise for someone :'(
+Joo Hara may be there is someone thinking "wish i had elise" ;)

In fact he did this song to his Doctor's daughter, Therese, but he wrote her name so badly the printer thought it was "Elise"

I did its amazing
This masterpiece makes my eyes shed tears because of how beautiful of it arrangement was for a man who was deaf...wish that mr beethoven come back alive and take out crap music today with his new masterpiece.
There was a recent study that shows that people who love metal will like classical, also the other way around.. and since I love metal i'm not suprised.
Yeah me too :)
im a bit of a metalhead and yet here i am listening to beethoven. i suppose what you say is true
Arch Enemy and Beethoven. Ffs.
Jan Michael Portugaleza this is probably very true, I love metal and screamo and edgy emo bands but I love how soothing stuff like this is
That is with me. I love heavy metal Head Thumper music. But i still like classical.
I remember this from my childhood. We had a telephone and it had this option of playing tunes in the receiver. It had 4-5 tunes in it. This chorus of Für Elise was one in it. I was an infant but it's one of those blunt memories which stay. This tune did. I was so relieved when I discovered this original piece for real. It sounded really nostalgic to my ears.
I love this song!♥
It is very special, it touches my soul and awakens in me memories of the most beautiful phase of my childhood.
It's the magic of a song that never dies.
Men's After Rejection Becomes Genius.. Great Personality.. Great Music Composer.. 🙏🙏 From India 🇮🇳🇮🇳

Kkkkkkkjj
This piece touched such depths of my heart back in fourth grade everything just became lovey-dovey and deep and intense
It's a shame that so many people out there don't think very much of this style of music. If only they could see the beauty in the classical style of music. Or even just appreciate that this is the rock that all our modern music is based on.
Ludwig van Beethoven was the greatest composer of all time and Fur Elise is the most beautiful and greatest piano piece ever composed
I always knew the tune of this music but I never knew it’s name until I played it on a piano game
This has always been my favorite. A few years back I met a young lady with the name Elise .this brief meeting was in Black Mountain NC. The young lady was every bit as lovely as the music.
I love this song and i play it on piano tiles all the time
I play it on the piano all the time.. lol xD

This music is part of my childhood!
We always play it to scare ourselves but yet we still love it, everytime I listen to this song I always have goosebumps....
I love this so much. It's so beautiful and elegant. I'm 11 and I get made fun of for listening to art like this instead of people saying random lyrics into a microphone.
I'm 13 and I've listened to classical music for along time and I still get made fun of but I honestly don't care because most music these days suck .
TURN DOWN FOR WHAT?! Hahahaha
Yeah these days the music really sucks, just ignore the people who like those really stupid musics, like the one I named, it's for no brainers, they don't know what music is.
Yeah i love piano music. But i like SOME of the new stuff but not that much i mean most of it is trash.(sorry for mu language)
I'm 14 and some of my friends said I'm so old because I listen to classical music... I'm like: "Gurrrrl No."
Emilee Peterson Maybe people make fun of you 'cause you sound like the kind of person who thinks they're high and mighty for liking classical music.
This brings tears to my eyes as it helps me remember all the cows I tried to look after who selflessly sacrificed their lives, giving their everything and then dying without being loved by anyone.
I play this every morning hours before sunrise when privately chanting the holy names of the Lord "Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare/ Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare".
It is the most moving and beautiful music I have ever heard.
It plays on my Seiko wind up melody alarm clock which I wind specifically for this meditation in the dark at that time.
Whoever authored this piece was directly inspired by God, there is no doubt.

Symphony of love
His emotion for Elise starts from calm to strong desire then went through inner struggle and back to calm

So did Scott Joplin, and he wrote some beautiful music
my feelings for this piece is so surreal. This is one of his bests in my opinion❤
Somehow, in this original version, you can somewhat hear the emotions and loneliness just through the notes...
Beautiful. It's enough to make a grown man cry.
The most beautiful song in the world is this master piece this is my favorite piece.🃏
from how interpreted it, i believe this piece shows the love, the hurt, and the healing of a relationship. this piece was written for elise, a girl whom rejected his proposal. you can hear his love for her in the beginning, the downfall at around 2 minutes, the chaos going through his mind, and the healing at the end where his music comes back a little bit more steady. i love it.
Who else found this while playing piano tiles? It's lovely ❤️🎹
Me♥️♥️♥️ And i loved it so much♥️🎹
Beethoven is a very good piano player. He is deaf and he still can feel the piano and that's how he made Für Elise. The name is Für Elise because he made that song for his wife named Elise and it's for her so they did Für. Beethoven was born in December 17, 1770. He started play in piano in 1778 when he was seven. Beethoven had seven kids. He died on March 26, 1827. He died at the age of 56 in Schwarzspanierhaus, Vienna. His songs are very old and beautiful
I heard this first time in a cartoon where a ghost plays this music after many years finally found it.

Heard it played in Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part 2 looked it up n ended up here...I knew of Beethoven before but didn't know fur Elise was done by him
It sounds to me his love for her, whoever she was, was delicate. And he was there for her climax, her splendid youth and vitality. And then, he was there for her descent into aged beauty. He saw it all. And his love endured. You can feel it in every note. This music is so beautiful. She was the same to him all the while he saw her differences. He loved her.

Who is Elise? anyone knows story behind this masterpiece?
So he was in love with Elise and wanted to date her. So he said to meet in the hotel. She was already there but it was raining so he was waiting for "TAXI" and no one stopped to help. And then he decided to go by himself, but it was raining so heavy that someone's carriage was broken, so he helped that person. And finally ran to the hotel... And Elise was waiting for him. Finally she thought he was just joking about the date, when he walked into the right door and she walks out of the left one... (don't know if true, or it happened to him, Its our teacher who explained it to us. It's better to research and yeah, sorry for bad English...;)

Elise was the leader of a band of marauding gunslingers who would regularly raid small German towns.
