Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines with the most innovative camera technologies and immersive filmmaking editing techniques on UA-cam!
Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!
On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines, hike or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with interesting artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old miners and prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.
A&FP moves just a bit slower and is filmed with a completely different style as compared to other mine exploring channels on UA-cam. “Gly”, your host, discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.
DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!
Gly approaches abandoned mine exploration with a strong emphasis on safety, utilizing appropriate equipment, training, and extensive experience to minimize risks. While it’s indisputable that exploring abandoned mines poses significant dangers, Gly's background in mining, coupled with over 30 years of experience in this field, equips him with a deep understanding of mining history, techniques, and mine layout, as well as a lifelong interest in amateur geology and two decades of experience in explosives regulation.

“Gly”: So there we were just driving along when suddenly Randy rose up from the dead! ua-cam.com/video/Ny_60eXt_8A/v-deo.html
Yeah now the gang is back to gather again, be safe my friends. Randy the potato goes in front.
Good job Gly.
Gly when are you going to explore the mines in sandy valley just outside of pahrump
Yay!
another great adventure but please fellas stay safe and wishing you all the best from london uk. mickey
This was incredible! Never have I seen a more wonderful mine such as this. I could speed a week inside and become lost even more. I'm 70 years old and as a kid, my friends and I spent many days roaming through those old coal mines and saltpeter mines in southern Indiana. Coal mines were kind of boring but those saltpeter mines were fun to explore. They weren't real long but usually, they had two levels, once in a great while three levels. We were stupid back then, we explored those underground creek caves also. But it was a part of my youth that I cherished. Now it's just me, no family left so I spend five or six hours a day exploring on UA-cam with you and a couple of others. Thank you so much for making this old man's day. Now it's time to find me another mine on here. Be careful and be safe.
“Gly”: Thank you very much I’m happy you enjoyed it!
I'm in Southern Indiana. What part were/are you in? I'd love to check out some salt peter mines!
@@hoosierpatriot2280 Several are located in Levenworth Indiana. www.in.gov/history/state-historical-markers/find-a-marker/early-mining-at-wyandotte-caves/
You survived, Ken, and were rewarded with many good memories.
Mr M is by far my favorite cave buddy
It never ceases to amaze me, just how much hard work and man hours it must have taken to remove that much material from each mine. Especially the really old ones that didn't have the newest technology.
The more of these I watch the less claustrophobic I feel! Thanks for another adventure!
So mr. M is the smart one, I’m 68 and I go prospecting and looking for mines with my son. I understand sore legs.
This makes my Saturday mornings!
Hell ya🌵
Triple D!
Saturday morning cartoons!
I hope that Mr M's legs are feeling better now. I am 63 and I could not venture far in a mine nowadays.
The fact that Mr M is still doing it shows that he is Superman's Boss!
Greetings from Hungary. You make the days brighter here. I’m so glad I found your channel!
“Gly”: Thanks!
Welcome to the viewership!!
Hello! Greetings From Mr M!!!!!! Welcome!!!
Anyone remember One Saturday Morning on WB? Waking up knowing all your favorite cartoons were on! This!!! This is like that and I'm 31 now. 😁😁
Yes I do remember the good old days until the government decided kids can't just have fun & must have education. 😒
Gly - What I like best about your videos is, rather than watching you explore a mine, you and Mr. M. make us viewers feel like we're there with you!
“Gly”: Thanks! That’s what we’re trying to accomplish. It’s my goal to try and make you feel like your right there with me when exploring these places.
I feel like I'm a kid again; can't wait until next Saturday, for another exciting adventure, with my Heroes, Gly Coolness and Mr. M.
Who remembers Rin Tin Tin, SkyKing, The Lone Ranger and Tonto, Roy Rodgers and Dale Evens, Superman and Mickey Mouse Club; and everything in Black and White. You're, Both, in the same league. Kudos.
You know what? After a long day of working on Saturday, I always look forward to coming home, feeding the critters, getting supper, and settling down on the couch and finally get to watch Gly and Mr. M's further adventure. Can't wait till #99 and #100. Keep up the good work and I'll keep watching.

Excellent Show Boyz!!! 😃👌👍
Hey 👋 Gly is there any gem 💎 ✨ 😍 mine here in the United States 🇺🇸 you can do enjoy your videos 📹 please keep them coming 🙏. And a big hello to Mr M.
“Gly”: There’s good places to find gems all across the western US but Nevada truly is a rock hounds paradise.
There he is. Got your back. Good.
You guys are awesome keep up the awesome videos you should get in touch with Ghost Town living and see if Brent will let you Explore Cerro Gordo
My gosh, so far this is the largest one I have seen you explore!! Amazing how our creator made the earth with these precious metals and the beautiful gems. Each place on the earth has something valuable for mankind!
My sincere complements to Mr M for his courage and endurance. There were times when he was clearly in fear, yet he overcame his fears and endeavored and accomplished so much. :-)
Complements to Gly for regard and support.
Hello all! Love from Canada!

Yes! Been waiting all week!!!!!
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota
Great show Gly and Mr M....that was a very big deep mine! See you next Saturday
Hey Gly, Mr. M. and everyone else who helps the channel. I just recently started watching your channel and I am so thankful these serious, dark, and secluded pockets of North American history is being documented in a professional, respectful, and transparent way. I’m only 30, but this looks like something incredibly fulfilling and productive to do with retirement.
I loved this episode and the addition of the music 10/10 for me
“Gly”: Thank you!
Hi Gly, Mr. M & Randy,
I absolutely love your
videos. But i really enjoy it when the 3 of you are joking around & having fun with one another while you go through the mines. It doesn't seem the same lately, can really tell there has been some distance between you all. Hope you can bring the fun & joking back into your videos. I really miss Mr. M's humor with you. You all are great! Inspire us all. Take care ! 💜🌻🌼
“Gly”: Your wish is granted! The three of us are exploring again and you’ll be seeing us goofing around in most every episode all summer long. 👍
Gly and Mr. M probably have very sore Freebuses and Heskinnys after going down and up incline shafts. But terry on with this great educational show. I do love this show!!
I've been waiting all week for this episode....❤
Happy that the both of you are in great shape and willing to take us along 😀
The track layers in this mine were absolute artists. Thanks Gly and Mr. M!!!
I saw this pop up on my subscribed watch list and jumped on it to view!
Awesome! Thanks for taking us along. 😊
Hey guys 😊 lovely way to start the day.
One of the best shows on UA-cam!!!
Great vid Gly and Mr M, look forward to watching you every Saturday from the comfort of my recliner in the UK
Steve T
Thank you Gly and Mr. M for these videos
This is one of my favorite videos yet Gly! absolutely stunning! all those big ballrooms and amazing artifacts were stunning. It’s so cool how many ore carts you found, and wasn’t it just 2 videos ago that you found your first one? Good for you gly!
“Gly”: This was a really fun adventure. I really enjoyed documenting this mine.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces we all really appreciate how detailed you are in your descriptions and explorations, as it is just so interesting to see and learn about everything in those mines.
@@hunterpowell6860 I missed out on the lower workings on this one. Gly is bold, and strong like an Ox. I'm less so. A wealth of knowledge, time with gly is almost always informative.

That is one extensive mine! I feel for Mr, M, I’m up there in years too! Great job, Gly! Thanks a lot you two !
I watch every Sunday at noon.
Well..... I turn it on, fall asleep, and have the craziest dreams. Then I re-watch it to try and explain my dream.
Good seing Mr M smiling because this is surely Mr M type of mine to explore
What an incredible mine! I got tired just seeing you do all that climbing! lol
Amazing! Confirmed, the butt slide creates some serious dust. From the looks of it many before you had done the butt slide as well. So many cool artifacts, crazy rail junctions and ore passes. Great work.
“Gly”: Yep! The last guy that did the butt slide set his beer down and didn’t pick it back up.
Hope all is well with Mr. M!!
Thank you! Every time your helmet not sand down I jumped! Loved it!
Canned milk is what you used in your coffee. It was a staple at ranches in Wyoming before electricity came in the 1930’s. The label is c.1940.
I remember that my folks used the milk in the 50’s!
@@joehead1294 Talking boiled and strained coffee here....
Excellent job on covering this mine such a massive awesome mine thank you always for the hard work an sharing your passion always always excellent videos as always be safe 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Another super-snazzy film people. That climb would be something of a work out to Me, but even @ 58, I'm in the best shape ever really. I feel it. Healthy diet, deep-breathing exercises, an ()ccasional trip ..And your mine videos. All these things make me happy. Thank you gentlemen !
Plus TWO carts...amazing finds!!!
After watching you climb and hanging on old rails, going deeper and deeper then climbing back out......I need a nap!....Great videos
Great stuff!
👍👍😎
Those devilish suspenders....ha,ha. With those long adets were the miners digging mineral as they went? Did you two explore this mine all in one day? Whew!! Massive workings, huge and winding. How many yrs. was this mine worked? 23:46, one needs long legs to step over those side braces. 33:17, what were those beeps alerting you to....bad air? 41:25, your remark, "now you know where you're at", glad you did cause we all lost track! You sure have alot of endurance! (and now all the "up"). Fast motion makes it look easy....you're "da, man". Thanks so much for this "explore".
Thanks Gly and Mr. M really appreciate the vast Explore!!!; )
I feel for ya Mr. M! Same here!
Oh my God, Gly! You freak me out going down there! Walking over chasms!!!! Stay safe! You are the only way I am gonna see what is in those mines!
That ore chute at the bottom of the 50foot hole, I'm not surprised it's broken! Can you imagine a cart full being dropped down it? The noise must have been immense.
Right? Wild men.
Excellent 2-part episode Gly ! Mr. M experienced the mortifying miner’s nightmare of a “Suspender clasp mishap.” 🤣.
Fortunately, on the Schnozzelator 5009D, there is a Suspender-clasp-repair widget located next to the beverage dispenser. Stay safe 😁👍
Thankyou for taking me on this adventure , you two really enjoy putting these videos together and it shows
in the first class quality of your end product. I love the dry wit of Mr M and the energy of you Gly ,
Thanks again, take care and mind that deadly virus , your safer in the mines I think . Cheers guys
I have to admire the men who did this dangerous work to support their families. There probably weren’t many alternatives available at the time. They did what they had to do. Even then, I’m sure someone else reaped the benefits 100 fold
Awesome video!!
Mr. Coolness and Mr. M, I look forward to your 2 videos every week and to me the longer the better. I say this because Atleast with Gly there is no way I would be able to fit my well insulated body into some of the places you go ! But seeing the grandeur of some of those “ballrooms “ is unbelievable ! Please keep doing what you’re (You too Mr. M. ) and most of all stay safe !
I just rewatched last weeks so that I could stay up on you; can't get enough of you; please stay safe! I just ordered my first T Shirt and coffee cup!
Thank you for the video. I was tuckered out too after watching you. I think I'm hooked on your videos. Keep up the great stuff.
Cheers guys. Stay safe. ❤🖤🖤❤❤🖤🖤❤
hi from aussie, omg i had to go back to last week to remind myself of how high you had to climb to start with.....😲good heavens no wonder it took you days to recover, that was an amazing place sooooo big, will make a great fall out shelter or underground living if they ever drop another bomb..lol......great job Gly💪........ and Mr M sometimes its just better to read the book or see the movie,🎥 lol....i hope it was easier "sliding" ? sliding down or at least part of the way.....i bet a soft comfortable bed 🛌 never felt so good.....
Throughly enjoyed this, as usual. You two have built a fantastic channel. Not sure why I find this so fascinating, but I love it!
“Gly”: Thank you! I’ll keep doing it as long as I’m having fun and people keep watching.
nailed it again lads . top quality. see you next week, uk.
What an amazing mine, a lot of hard work showing us this stunning mine loaded with artefacts, thanks for sharing and stay safe
I love those caves that you are exploring through good education I like the one with a 1906 that was cool
Good morning Gly, Mr M !
Watching safely in Tehachapi Ca
Man oh man! This beauty ranks up there with the Silver Souls mine on my top of the chart! Excellent video guys! Thanks for taking us with you!
Very cool video "Gly" the milk can you found is a good artifact can't find labels on them anymore . You see the solder joint at the bottom of the can that was made before 1920 after 20s they stopped using lead. the dynamite stick was another museum artifact it was a covering that covered the dynamite stick. thanks for the entertainment .
I especially liked the u2 song, still haven't found what I'm looking for, good choice Gly. Enjoy your explorations with Mr M. That was an awesome mine. Thanks
That was one beautiful mine! Thanks for taking us along.
Yes definitely agree this was a great mine thanks guys 👍
For the life of me gly I dont know how you carry those brass balls of yours around great explore awesome mine stay safe
Yes, this was big, nice trip around! Thanks!
Awesome video! Thanks again Gly and Mr. Greetings from The Netherlands. Till next weekend!
Mr. M, im proud and thankful for you perseverance. It brings great camera work and content. Love to see you on this channels expeditions!
Greatings from The Netherlands
Thanks 🙂👍
that was fantastic, one of the best mines you have ever explored. I have been watching your channel from the start, and now I understand why the USA is one of the most wealthy countries because of having so many minerals. And now I know where all those metals and minerals came from. Thank you.
“Gly”: It’s just crazy how many great places there are to explore here and we’re just getting started. 👍
Seabed the best for last and Hungry for more, thanks! ! !
Great video Gly, hope your legs feel better Mr. M, I think with the "Snozzelator 500™ " that this Summer sometime in the bottom of one of these Mines in my beautiful State of Nevada that you will find some Levi's Jeans, may not be in great condition but with that machine and you being able to get to where nobody else has been able to go, the chances of finding Jeans are REALLY high.
Wow! That’s an amazing mine! Be safe and take care you two.
Wow how beautiful your very lucky to find this .
Hola guys! So at about 25 seconds in, you taped Mr. M standing in an enormous stope. Is that stope entirely manmade? I've always wondered about how all the passages, stopes, winzes, ect., are made in a mine. I think the limestone would make it easier, but still - that's a mighty undertaking, reshaping nature like that. Great video - this is one of my favorite mines, for the sheer wonder of it.
“Gly”: Yes, 100% of all the large rooms and passage you see are man made.
Yes! Been waiting on this!! Thanks gly! I really enjoy this!!
Just an incredible place what a maze of twists and turns
Hahaha "Well, if I put one foot here and one foot there, I should be okay!"
--not-so-famous last words! 🤣
“Gly”: I have a way of talking myself into things. Lol
Hello Gly & Mister M, wow that mine just kept on giving, every time you think it's facing out or you reached the bottom along comes another drift or decline, superb. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx 💖
You were "glowing" on your debrief of the artifacts to Mr. M .
Finally with you guys..... I'm a bit worried about the fact that i didn't see any footage last week..... Hope you're all right..... Waiting for mr. M's footage..... Let's explore this old mine...
Did you see 'The Ghost Of Not Dead Randy' yet?
My older brother worked for TROJAN Power Co. in Allentown, Pa. in the 1950 - 1960 and he gave me several neat old wooden dynamite boxes. I primarily used them to store junk in the garage, but when we moved to a retirement community my nieces snatched up these boxes for their living room. Boy was I surprised at how popular they were.
Awesome, great explore, would love to have seen first hand, keep up the great work, and stay safe
Amazing tour of the mine! 😀👍
I admire your sense of direction, guess that comes from experience.
It also amazes me wen looking at these mines and how they even begin digging to make it look the way they are now. And to think tht they didn't have the equipment like we do today. Tht must if been sum serious man hours 💪🏾.. and the way they did the tracks blows my mind 🤯....
