These mines always amaze me as to the amount of lumber that has been used in them. Gly, that second one was amazing! I wasn’t expecting much seeing how big that open pit is! But wow! Swiss cheese is an understatement! It was a maze of termite tunnels!
Would have loved to see the rest of that mine but for me, seeing the square set was worth getting in there as far as you could. I love the mines of the Comstock and after reading Louis L'Amour's "Comstock Load" (many times) I've been interested in the square sets. So being able to see the different ways square set is used is really interesting. Thank you.

This is so educational and entertaining! I never had any interest in mining, (sorry Gly. that has to hurt) but since watching you have become a true fan and tried to learn what this 82 year old brain will accept. I think...no, I know...you are a risk-taker. A pyrotechnician plays with fire, big fire and climbing down a 300 foot shaft is as safe as the person who does the climbing and safety is your middle name or you would have perished long ago. Thanks for another good video. Getting to the bottom is not the end-all; it is what happens on the way there that makes watching great and even though you had to turn back it was not at all disappointing. It was the right thing to do, right Mr. M? Until next time....
Squirrel sighting was a draw; you both win. Johnny's Mine was very cool - shame about the water. There's something mysterious about it, maybe because it was so deep. Deep enough to disturb Cave Trolls :).

What happened to your "intro" music for this week & last? The music starts as the globe is shown.???? Look at the energy & HARD work those miners did at 12:56, with the height of square set (I call it bridging), they put in!! At 15:41, maybe you could have tried a hand over hand (like monkey bars on playground). But you said it had came all crashing down just after that w/water. But do appreciate that you gave us all a "good look" of that mine's interior. Also, the 2nd. mine. Now that is alot of "adet walking"! So, OK, you will do that trip anyway. It's just a case of if we get to go along. Did like seeing the square sets, well worth it. Liked seeing all the ins and outs of the second mine. Just my head is spinning so bad that I may not be able to smash that like button.
A question that needs to be asked: -Given GC is the Director, Producer and CEO what positions are held by other members within the production facility? Would Mr M be "Best Boy" perchance, or would he be better suited to "Clapper Loader"? What about "he who moves silently" "Key Grip" or perhaps "Runner" might fit the bill? Looking forward to seeing these two stalwarts being credited, aka Cecil Blount DeMille style, in the final credits.
“Gly”: Well, like you said… I’m director and producer. Mr M is co star, b roll and key grip. Randy is… well… hmmm… well… just an all around good guy and Mrs M is in charge of nightly catering. That’s it! There are no other members of A&FP other than Jim Vick our behind the scenes sponsor and Chris Ackerley our mine location specialist.
Hey Gly, can I put a claim on that flooded mine. I'm very interested in it. You are always entertaining and thanks Mr. M for your Camara work and I thought for sure I seen a Sasquatch but it was only Randy.😂 Great video guys, you always make my Saturdays enjoyable. 👍❤🇺🇸
“Gly”: Honestly, I know of much better lands to put a claim on. Contact me privately and I’ll send you a link. My email is at the end of all my videos.
That's some excellent use of the 360 cam in post there, good direction changes when it fits to give us context. I prefer this to the viewer-controlled always-full-360 method because with those I can't just sit back and watch the show. Those ARE epic, but until youtube allows you to lock directions, please stick to the way you edited this one. I'm only 16mins in, so if you'll excuse me, Continuing On... 😁
I like the fast-forward way you show the second mine. The individual parts of that mine are not that interesting, but the way you fast forward through the mine reveals just how big it really is, and how mumuch energy those old time miners put into getting the ore out. It must have taken decades to dig all those drifts!
“Gly”: Thanks Chris! Yeah, that mine didn’t have any interesting artifacts in it but it’s layout was pretty cool. We only explored two of its six levels.

I would love to see you collaborate with Lost Mines. Coming from a layman the amount of information I’ve learned from both channels seems to be equal. Obviously I’m no expert but I would love to see the chemistry between you guys. The mines that Lost Mines goes into are sometimes much older than even the United States so the experience is a little different but it would be very interesting.
Can you guys PLEASE visit Cerro Gordo? Brent needs some experienced explorers to show him how and we need your skills recoding all those old mines up there in CA..
GLY, I've almost made it through all the episodes, so if I missed you mentioning it, I apologize. I often see purple, almost amethyst- looking rock in many of the mines. You do such a great job explaining the white veins of quartz, the rust color of the ironstone and other colors.... I've been waiting to hear what the purple rocks are. Could you enlighten, please?
“Gly”: The purple looking rock is associated with porphyry material such as rhyolite, andesite, etc. In porphyry deposits such as the one located in Goldfield Nevada the purple looking rock was an indication of the presence of gold. In the future I will be going back to a mine I once documented and retrieving a few specimens of that purple looking rock.
Interesting color there at 31:00 area, may have been some good mineralization there with the reddish color and the yellow may indicate some sulphides. Apparently the prospectors felt it might be a good spot with the gouges on the ribs. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any cohesive structure that indicates a commercially viable vein. There is a bit more promise at 34:40 at the hanging wall. Thanks for the exploration and the video. !!
Have you ever heard of Ghost Town Living, the guy who bought a Ghost Town. Gerro Gordo Mine. He has a map of all the mine in and around Gerro Gordo Ghost Town.

The Johnny square set stope is incredible!!
You should visit Cerro Gordo. I bet the guy there would love to have a mine exploring partner for a weekend.
“Gly”: Read my comment on his latest video.
Nice green socks Mr M 👌 👍 😀 😆 🤣
New subscriber, I have some scribe about 4 days ago and since then I am pretty sure I have watched every single one of your videos, no homo but you have a very calming voice that is easy to listen to especially when I'm trying to sleep at night not to mention you go and explore things I wish I had the courage to do I would just be way to worried about a collapse the whole entire time just be careful and there's mine's bro I don't want to hear about you on the news"UA-camr GLY from abandoned and forgotten places is now unfortunately stuck in and hundred year old mine while filming hey UA-cam video due to a collapse" if I see that headline anywhere I'm coming for you bro seriously me and my construction crew
“Gly”: I’m happy your enjoying the channel! Well, let’s hope that never happens and I can continue making videos for a very long time. 👍
Hi from Syracuse NY everyone and safety first always
You sure got your steps in with this mine.
Thank you for your wonderful videos. And of course, stay safe and secure. 😉
Great adventure guys!
Thats second mine is quite confusing. So many little nooks and crannies. But both were cool. Best of luck on your sub challenge.
You obviously had a great cardio workout on this video great job keep up the good work and be safe
“Gly”: It’s the abandoned mine version of a Stair Master.
I hope you both make your mark!!!! My next goal is the 1000 mark !!!!! I can't imagine even 10,000 yet ..... Great work!
Randy was giving you some respect for your age
Great stuff guy’s wish I could hit subscribe button a billion times on both channels really enjoy them, not sure if you have a email can’t remember like to send ya a pic of our new granddaughter she watches with me lol as always gly mr m randy be safe 👍👍👍👍
“Gly”: My email is at the end of all my videos Steve. My nephews wife just had her baby a little over an hour ago. 👍
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces awesome congratulations 🎊🎈🍾🎉
its a shame you didn't have a skip car with brakes Gly, would have made a great descent down that incline shaft. lol
“Gly”: Weeeeee!!! Lol
As I stated last week, I will gladly be a stunt double for you guys on Gly’s team😁😂😅
Right until that little drop at the end, anyway!
Haaaahahaha that mental image is priceless... hands up, screaming bloody murder all the way to the bottom of the --WHAM!!! ....dusssssstttttt....
Mr. M would make a great flying circus
Will spread the news, and have already been doing so, love your content, and crew👍🙂
AH, out around Pahrump i see, soo many cool mines between that area, Sandy Valley and Jean NV.
My goodness gly you need to hire a young bill Murray to caddy all your stuff around for you, it’d be a lot easier to get up those inclines lol
“Gly”: You got that right! A caddy would be nice. Lol
Great vid of Swiss cheese mine!!! Memory usually fails cuz to much going on. 😊😃💕
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces Thank you SO much!!
Beautiful timber work
Good to see the old guy kicking :).
Have you ever heard of Ghost Town Living, the guy who bought a Ghost Town. Gerro Gordo Mine. He has a map of all the mine in and around Gerro Gordo Ghost Town.
I watch his videos also and i think the diesel brothers are going to help him with getting concrete to him
Cerro .
“Gly”: I left a comment on his latest video.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces that's cool
I would love to see a collaboration video of you guys exploring the mines at Cerro Gordo. I'm sure he would love to have your expertise out there!
“Gly”: If you watch Brents latest video you’ll see in the comments that I reached out to him.
