Just got my ‘96 Evinrude 60 running today after electrical issues. But it wouldn’t stay running. I had this exact issue and figured it was fuel pump. Thanks for the confirmation!
I have a question T-Mike I have a 2004 Johnson 30hp. Starts great runs great except at wide open throttle some time it acts like it misses like just one beat. Back off throttle just a little never happens. I am thinking a piece of something might be restricting fuel flow at WOT. What say you ?
Just what I was looking for. I have a 1986 mercury classic fifty I went and got all new fuel lines and a new primer bulb cause well it had all the original lines still and it ran for about 20 to 30 seconds and lost prime and died and wouldn't start again. Unfortunately I have the dual carb dual fuel pump engine
Enjoyed the fix! My request- 1976 25hp Johnson, starts, at idle it will “sneeze” again and again, then finally sneeze and stop abruptly. Any trouble shooting would be appreciated!
I have a question i have a 1995 johnson that wont run for more than 20sec has new fuel pump , new fuel ball , new plugs , and carb rebuilt . What else can be causing this ?
Great lesson presentation T Mike.
I really appreciate the lessons learned....thank you
Great tip, Thank you for posting. Every days a school day 😇

Thank you, Sir!
Hearing that engine gave me happy flashbacks to when I was teenager with an evinrude 10 hp fast twin 55 years ago. 😀🛫

Hard to say - could be lots of things - fuel injector, water in the gas, fuel pump, etc,,,,,
Well that was easy. Smiles all round.
Good topic for new folks👍

Trying continuously pumping bulb. If it keeps running your fuel pump is bad.
I got a johnson 9.5 hp 9r73b runs great with cowl off but put it on and dies any idea what it could be

@michaeljsimon it was the throttle shaft wasn't in right I pulled it out and reposition it running good now with cowl on
What about the same issue with a smaller outboard that has a built in gas tank and no bulb?
@@Shmacalacapingo dirty carburetor
Sometimes, the connectors on the fuel line dont seal good and air in the line and bulb and the bulb wont stay hard
Are you in Virginia I hear a little high land in ya

I don't think that will work on a 4 stroker
