My beloved Bertie, the chief tester, passed away two weeks ago, a month before his 18th birthday. I am devastated; he was the most wonderful, loving, gorgeous, funny and gentle companion you could ever ask for. His beautiful twin brother Percy is still very sick, and his grieving is heartbreaking. He hasn't meowed since Bertie died and was, until then, the loudest, most vocal cat I've ever known. All the cats got sick from an E.Coli outbreak in their urine. Because of this, they shed the feline herpes virus. It's been a terrible time, and the vet bills have been utterly crippling. Some very kind people set up a GoFundMe to help me cover the bills to date and the ones to come. If you can help at all, I would be eternally grateful. Thank you. gofund.me/1991562c
Two years ago you posted a video about self cleaning litter boxes and I commented that I didn't have a cat, but still watched you videos are they are so entertaining. Fast forward a year, and now I have 4 cats! All were 8 week old feral kittens I trapped from under a neighbors shed (I had the mother spayed) and they have recently just turned a year old. Your video about Harriett really inspired me to open my heart and listen to it as it wanted a cat, but I was afraid to take the leap. The four I have are wonderful. Thank you!
Girl, same here! I've always been a dog person, but got sucked in by a feral black cat (people can b dumb about blk cats) then the mother had another batch and I'm up to four now! I'm turning into an old cat 🐈 lady! Strangely, getting him fixed hasn't mellowed him much; he also seems much sharper than his half-sister's. (Which is the opposite of my experience with dogs).
I just want to say that I really respect a man who dedicates so much time to filming his cats taking a shit, editing all the footage, analyzing his cats shitting habits and compiling pros and cons for the litter boxes.
Props to Bertie for taking his job as a beta tester very seriously, pushing the boundaries of what the machine has to be able to handle.Thank you for this very informative review, it's very nice to watch, even though I have no need with just two cats. But maybe someday if I have more space and an excess of money. Can't wait for that catio video, it looks so beautiful!
Omg thank you, UA-cam algorithm. I've been really hoping someone would cover ALL of them. A friend has been singing the praises of the 4 and I am SWEATING at that cost. Looking forward to part 2!
We wobbled over the cost of Litter Robots for well over a year before finally making the leap and purchasing. YMMV, but I have to say we've never looked back or regretted the decision. Just read up and be aware of what you are purchasing; they aren't "perfect" by any means... but to us, worlds better than manual boxes or even electrical "rake" systems like the ScoopFree or LitterMaid. Much less hassle and easier to clean up after.
Agreed! I was really hoping this would include a comparison of the different options, especially Leo's Loo Too since that's where I'm leaning compared to this one
They are expensive but my husband and I got our 3 cats a refurbished litter robot through the manufacturer site with affirm or afterpay (can’t remember which payment system). Getting the refurb and splitting the cost over a few months was worth it.
Very looking forward to series. Two cats now with clumping clay, so at least one good scooping is now two and missing a day absolutely out of the question. … longevity of machine and ease of deep clean my big issues. Routine now is rotating a couple boxes with full clean and drying outside.
I’m probably going g to make the leap and purchase .. on small instalments. W Question for you those who have these. I have 2 cats now and 3 boxes in apartment- would I need just this one or still have an alternative litter box still
We love our Litter Robot 4. We bought a “refurbished” machine and the $100 saved paid for the additional 2 year warranty. We had it for 6 months prior to having to put our beloved “Kashmir” to sleep at 20 years old in December 2023 (tragic event for me, my wife and two daughters.) Kash loved the Robot 4 and now our new two rescue kittens (Frankie (5 months) and Lola (8 months) both love this unit. It’s been fun monitoring their weight gains since we got each when they were in the 2.5 pound range. Best “cat investment” ever, thankfully we are in a financial position to be able to fit it in the long term budget
@@robfromgpw5243 so sorry about Kashmir. It’s the worst thing about having them. Bertie and Percy are almost 18 and their health isn’t great 😔 Very happy its working out for you. Philip
@@OneManFiveCats Thanks so much, she’s definitely missed and brought a ton of joy to our household for 17 years (youngest daughter rescued her when she was 4) We are having a ton of fun with the two kittens and had to get something to use the expensive litter box. JK, cat ownership is truly a mutually beneficial relationship.
Hey, question about the litter robot four. My mom got one and it has been having issues such as “Over Torque Fault” constantly displayed on her app. Have you had any issues with your system since you’ve had it?
I spent 30 mins Sunday morning watching this National Geographic quality level documentary of robots that cost nearly $1000 created entirely to scoop cat poop and pee - shot and edited by some guy on the other side of the world via a free video site. What a time to be alive.
ONE OF THE MOST PLEASURABLE REVIEWS TO WATCH! Thank you for taking the time to do this. I was hesitant to watch at first because of the length, but it does not feel like a long video. I know that making quality videos is a lot of work. Thank you for not only taking the time to do the great review but thank you for the CREATIVE touch! Thank you for not just sitting in front of the camera and talking. The music, the extra cameras, the humor and the integration of the story of your cats make it such a pleasure to watch. But even more important, it is helping the viewer to become more familiar with the "feel" of the product rather than just the "specs." Especially on such expensive products. Thank you!!
I think the fact that whisker was willing to help solve issues with there product is a MAJOR selling point for me. Knowing I’ll have good support from them is an incredible sense of relief. Plus it really shows they stand by their product.
Agreed - i had a malfunction on my robot 3 and reached out to their support outside of warranty. They sent me the part I needed (the pinch detector) and a part I might need (an optical sensor that was WAY more expensive) for free. Their support is top notch.
I do agree but I also take this with a grain of salt as I’m sure they were aware of his channel and probably sent the machine free of cost as well so they probably would not send custom 3d printed beta parts out to just anyone. Honestly though the fact that they even listened and made a fix that will be sold publicly is awesome. But seriously if the litter robot didn’t win I’m dying to see who did!
Customer support is important enough for me that I was willing to pay a premium for a big name brand when I bought vacuum robot. Support after the sale really matters!
Many many people are returning their LR4. I'm about to. The unit has serious issues. It very often freezes mid-cycle with a "Cat Sensor Fault" error. It simply isn't reliable enough to leave as the primary litterbox overnight. We fear it will become unusable while we are away. Google this and you will see. Customer service is overwhelmed often with wait times in excess of an hour.
Actually I worked with them to make this as it needed it. I tested out various designs. THAT’s why they send them out to me. My review speaks for itself.
Part 2 is delayed for various reasons, one of the biggest is a problem became apparent with the Popur after the edit was done, this changed things substantially. I’ve tried to get them to agree to say they will fix it for other people, and myself. I am giving them the time to decide but I can’t keep waiting. So far their replies have not been giving me a good feeling. Sorry for this delay. I need the be fair and if there are issues give the company a fair chance to respond. Update: I have to move forward with part 2 workout the response I was after from Popur. Expect part 2 to be out around 15 to the 17th January.
Ahhhhh, two whole weeks! If your attention to detail and professional production value weren’t so excellent, I would be annoyed. Alas, I know that quality takes time. Thanks for doing this series, most of the cat-tubers I follow haven’t done an updated test of the full range out at the moment. I’m based in Australia, so the range is much, much smaller, and the price much, much higher. I’m low income, so I can’t afford to experiment with automatic litter boxes. But I also have a disability, so I can’t afford to keep taking 15-20 minutes each day emptying the litterbox out, especially when tired, overworked, and needing to study around work. I really need to make sure I pick the right litterbox to invest in from the start. I can already say with confidence that that my girl Etta will have the same issue as Bert/Burt. So glad to have that flaw and the fix pointed out! Thanks 😊
@@OneManFiveCats Actually, the Petkit Pura X and Pura Max are both discounted for Black Friday on Amazon. The X is $419 and the Max is $499. I know because I'm shopping around for an automated litter box and those discounted prices are mighty tempting compared to the LR4's $699 😬 But your video might have convinced me to bite the bullet and go for the LR4 based on Whisker's responsiveness, part availability, and future upgrades.
Bought a LR4 last year, the lead time was about 6 weeks. It delivered within the lead time window and my 15 years of scooping ended. Errors here and there, but nothing that has put the cats at risk. My cats took to the LR4 in no time, Whisker really nailed it with this device, I don't think I've ever felt more satisfied with an expensive functional piece of tech. I smile ear to ear when it's time to replace the bag. Great Video, I agree with all of your opinions on this product! A must for multi cat owners.
The detail. The editing. The humour. And the fact that you're not afraid to take the machines apart and improve them. Well done. Looking forward to part 2.
Thank you so much, as a crazy cat lady who helps multiple rescues with indie fostering and hospice; I've been researching for weeks to help ease the litter duty. Your video was very concise and gave real-life issues that every cat parent knows will happen (pee).
Cannot wait for part two. Written reviews of these machines do not thoroughly articulate the ups and downs of these machines as well as you video does. So many questions I had about the machines in this video have been answered.
Vertical peeing is such a challenge. Really glad you were able to point out the issue to the manufacture and they are addressing. I’ll be watching for the updated fence to come standard and ready to buy.
I'm fascinated... I've never spent so much time watching someone else's cats peeing and pooping! I have one who is a 'high pee-er', even with the deepest trays, she manages to pee over the edge. I wouldn't care, but she's tiny, a Cornish Rex, at 2.7kg! But oh boy, can she get her bum high up. I'm seriously considering these machines, because I have 3 cats, and 2 are elderly, so I monitor their 'output' as best I can. It's amusing to me that I'm a connoisseur of which poop belongs to whom, not something I ever thought would be a point of pride! :D So yes, really looking forward to part 2, as $700 is a bit rich for my blood!
Yep... they should have a contest! :D She somehow digs a trench for her front paws so her bum is even higher. When I had a litter tray with a lid, I could not understand why it smelled so bad all the time, even though it was cleaned properly. Then one day I picked it up and realised it was wet all down the side and had been soaking into the flooring. After that, I watched her technique and it was amazing how she managed to actually fire out the wee through the tiny gap between the tray and the lid! Now I don't bother with a lid, it was more trouble that it was worth. The trays are on large waterproof mats which go in the wash regularly. She's happy, I'm happy, and it's a compromise we can live with. :) But....... these fancy machines are REALLY tempting me. :D
@@catsandcrafts171 If you have a smell problem still, white vinegar gets rid of the pee smell like magic. You have to put up with the smell of vinegar for a few hours, but it fades quickly.
@@Meznuraie Thank you! I've tried some special stuff for deterring animals from pee-ing on things, but the problem is... she's exactly where she should be for toileting, so I dont' want to put her off. The white vinegar idea is both cheap and sensible! I'm going to try that. :D
We've been using two Litter Robot 3 units for almost three years now, and are quite happy with them. Like all such devices, they have their "issues" occasionally - but it's nothing compared to the bending and scooping, lifting to empty, and weekly (or more) complete scrubbing needed with manual or even "rake-type" machines. Just pull the bag, throw it away, and put a new one in while topping off the litter as needed. I open them up to vacuum out stray sand and "debris" once every couple months, or when the barrel seems to grind when turning, and all is good. Our three cats have nearly always used electric litter boxes of some sort, so they had no problem adapting to the Litter Robot pretty much immediately. If one of them conks out irreparably (hard to imagine, but I suppose at some point it might become hard to find the parts), then I'll upgrade to whatever the current unit is. About the only features of the v4 unit I am wishing we had were the deeper waste receptacle with the easier bag attachment; I do hate those stupid clips as my fingers are too large to easily stuff the bags down into them. I can *almost* do it with my little finger. My wife has much smaller hands than I, and can easily use them, however, so I'll usually just let her put the bags in while I do the rest. 😋
I wanted to mention also that your direct comparison of multiple different auto litter boxes is unbelievably helpful. I am obsessive with FOMO when it comes to choosing between similar products, and online reviews are always suspect to me, so thanks for showing us the differences in how they are made and how they work. A dose of visual honesty on the internet - how unusual!
Great video. I have been using Litter Robot for almost as long as the company has existed. Right at 20 years. One reason I have continued to use them is that their customer service has always been top notch. The early Litter Robot had issues (pull cord sensor would stretch and a few other problems), but the company went to such great lengths to help me fix it they won me over. Litter Robot 3 had quite a few growing pains with all the new tech added (new type of sensors, wifi, app, etc.), but the company still offered me that same customer service I got when I first started using their product. Unless the quality really starts to suffer or the customer service does I would fully tell anyone to get Litter Robot full stop.
For the first time in almost two decades, I am not owned by a feline. But I'm preparing myself for a future where I'll definitely be a cat butler again and armed with the knowledge for choosing the best litter box. Can't wait for all these videos.
I’ve used litter robot for a number of years now. I got the litter robot 2, after it but the dust I got a litter robot 3 in December of 2018. I’ve had various issues some minor and one major issue. I appreciate how detailed you set out to be in your review and how you acknowledged that down the road there probably will be some hiccups.
Great video. I had the LR3 for about 3 years and I found it worked very well despite occasional glitches. I agree the LR4 is definitely an improvement, though, especially the noise level. Thanks for the tip about connecting it to a wifi enabled plug, that’s a great idea. You should make whisker pay you for your pee guard idea!
I have no words for how much I enjoyed this review! It was so informative and your narrating style is very entertaining. You could easily narrate audible books or even a nice nature series LOL. Thank you!!
I loved your video, we had a litter robot for over 10 years and only had to replace the base once with 4 cats. One of our older cats peed out the opening just like your cat was doing. The model we owned had a drawer that had a snap in grate that was the place the cats stepped on to get into the box. The cat would climb into the chamber and pee out the opening and the urine splash out on to the grate would end up in the bottom drawer under the liner. I tried different methods of trying to line the bottom drawer with dog pee pads and tried different kinds of bags. I still loved our litter robot. It doesn't matter how old your cat is, they will get used to it. Thank you for posting!
This is the best review of ANY product that I have ever watched. I own the Litter Robot 3, and your video convinced me to upgrade to the Litter Robot 4. Thanks for the amazing content!!!😊
I haven’t owned a cat in quite a while and for the reason my spouse has a problem with any smelly litter box. Thank you so much for this thorough review!
I've had the litter robot 3 for almost 5 years. And despite needing to change some parts at some point for 150€ it's actually made me SAVE money in those 5 years. Because it uses a lot less litter than with a normal litter box. Since I never end up with the whole litter stinking so bad I need to throw it all away, which happens once a week with a manual litter box. Thanks for the video. I'll probably invest in litter robot 4 the day my 3 gives up completely. But for now it's still working well !
Thanks! I have two 15 to 16 lbs cats male and female and I use the Tidy Cats Breeze XL Litter Box System and after this I'll stay with it. I think it's great you took all your time making this as I am a Geek and yeah was thinking about buying one for years but I clean mine out in the morning and when I get home from work or whenever I think necessary. I'll share this on my Social media as I know a few people that use these. I love your outdoor sanctuary! ;)
OH MY GOSH THANK YOUU I have 8 cats and have a struggle staying ontop of their boxes. its wonderful to see someone else with a lot of cats use a machine like this
I created a catio at my townhouse it and it has been invaluable. It also functions as a safe yet enjoyable place to secure the cats if the front door needs to be opened and left open for workmen etc. Certainly better than being locked in a bathroom. The thing I enjoyed the most was the process. I am a problem solver and really enjoyed this video from that perspective as well as from the perspective of a feline devotee. I have an outdoor shower in the corner of my catio. It is like standing under a waterfall in the rainforest. I am working on turning it into a sensor so they can cool off whenever they like in summer. #catprojectsarelyfe
I have a manual Litter Robot 3, Cat Genie, and have purchased/backed the Furbulous which I hope does well. The LR3 I have is a sensor issue, the safety one, which I will eventually bypass. Litter is an issue in my house as we had 10 cats, one passed in Oct from cancer. Auto litter boxes keeps me from having to work, be union president, trying to start up a new business and clean the litter. My wife doesn't like the litter boxes but likes the cats, so it's a bit tough getting help. This is the first one I have seen of your series and I have to say, this is one of the best review series I have seen. Thanks as this will help tons. The Cat Genie, while using water to self clean is prone to issues. The hose they give you to take the waste to the toilet needs to have a bigger space between the toilet seat and the toilet, so sending spacers with it would have been good as the hose is cracking. My wife was maintaining that one, but seems the plug got knocked out of the socket a while back and she didn't notice. So it doesn't really help much.
Loved your in depth review! I have six myself indoors..two I am babysitting and one bottle baby....three strays outside I am feeding and sheltering ( heated) and working on trapping...thank you!!
This review is just awesome. I am an IT developer and my girlfriend is a vet. We currently own a LR3 and are developing our own automatic litter robot. We are glad you saw the same problems we saw ourselfs which pushed us towards our own solution. I would really appreciate, if you could test ours as well, when the time comes! Just awesome review mate!
Wish you best of luck 🙌 we truly need a fully functional self cleaning litterbox its almost insane that we've reached 2023 and not one product solves these issues with a reasonable price
If you could please create one that doesn't require costly bins or bags, has a fairly compact foorprint while not sounding like a jet taking off that would be so nice! Currently I have one that uses plastic bins that cost an arm and a leg and pretty well fails to accomplish the other two.
@@LhFe16 the problem will be probably the price. Since we don't use cheap labour from oversees and disposable electronic scrap which should break in a year, the price goes up significantly. This is indeed a problem we don't have a solution without having to compromise on quality or functionality. You also have to consider, server cost money and there is no monthly fee to use the app.
@@Stephanie-we5ep this is indeed one of our biggest points! Our prototype we are testing since 3 months is using standardized 60l thrashbags you can buy from discounter in Germany. I hope these things are also available in most countries. Since environment is an issue for us, our robot can a) handle natural litter like cats best, since betonite litter is bad for the environment b) we try to use high quality 3rd party parts whenever possible c) all mechanical parts are overdimonsioned and should be functioning for multiple decades (calculated). Also spare parts will be easily available. d) we are using whenever possible a biodegradable and recyclable plastic for mechanical parts. About the sound: to be able to support natural litter and also very fine filter which cleans the litter very good, we added a vibration motor. You can disable it on the app and take a bigger filter, your litter will not be very clean afterwards though. Since I am a hobby pilot, I can guarantee you, it doesn't sound like a jet motor! But it may be a bit loud. At this point, it is a trade off between very clean litter and loudness. You can set up the vibration strength and deactivate vibrations on the app though, which is at least a bit relieve...
@@drotalion im gonna be honest with you mate, the app idea is fancy and all, but personally id be happy just having a functional piece of equipment that would clean up with a press of a button. If the cost is high for server and app maintenance consider entering the market with a self cleaning litterbox with minimum requirements and test the market with it purely on functionality aspect, then when you've got some cash going and better understanding of the market, develop the app as an extra step
Just ordered the Popur X5 for my parents Christmas present. In my eyes it is a much better design than the rolling internal box. I had hopes for the Petkit Max but the leaking issue and their lack of support made me look elsewhere, and I'm glad I did. I messaged Popur support about a question I had and received a response in less than 10 minutes from a real person. Looking at their campaign feedback and the community talking, all of the current issues seem to be completely fixable with software updates. Plus their responses and handling of concerns show this isn’t just a quick money grab. From the videos of the tooling being installed and technical updates, I really do believe they are in it for the long run. Can’t wait to start testing this device.
@@OneManFiveCats awaiting your review. They have a 100 day money back guarantee so if it turns out to be a flop I can fall back on that. However they have the sale running right now with no clear end date, so I wanted to nab it before it’s full price.
I have the litter robot 3 connect and am seriously considering getting the latest. You really helped me learn more as part of my research. Thank you for that. Thought I'd return the favor with something I've discovered that has really made a difference. You might know this already but thought I'd share. I clean my litter robot every time I replace the bag. When I do so after wiping the inside down, I spray it with furniture polish. I then wipe off any excess. Basically waxing the plastic inside reduces any sticking. By doing this, it's much more clean between cleanings. When poop is stuck to the walls, my cats can bump into it while going. This dramatically lessens that and it's more sanitary. Anyways, thought I'd share. Thanks for your videos and can't wait till your next one.
@@achillesdesigns207 I don’t really have an issue with using it like I do. I give it a wipe down when needed then a deep clean of the globe every 6 weeks-ish.
Thank you! I have 5 cats and one LR4, second one just shipped the other day. It has completely changed our litter routine and couldn't be happier. I'm glad we went with a 4 as I didn't realize how loud the 3 is. I can BARELY hear the 4 when it rotates. The sensor fault errors are kind of a pain, but we love that you can't smell the waste drawer. Still testing litters to see what works best, taking suggestions.
Glad to see they upgraded the litter robot! I had a 3 that I used for perhaps a year and then moved ... and well never set it up again. I had problems with the litter building up in spots, the bonnet not fitting properly after some time, the box sensor getting messed up, and found deep cleaning to be less than idea. It definitely seems like they made improvements!
Thanks so much for a fantastic review, and for your kind heart in rescuing so many cats We live on a farm in Wisconsin, where barn cats move from farm to farm like ball players. We currently have 12 indoor cats (yes, 12) and manually pick 8 boxes twice a day. Obviously they all have different toilet habits, and I've always been skeptical of technology when it comes to pet products. It seems like the companies frequently over promise and under deliver, especially with reliability and cleanability issues. Your review has made me feel comfortable enough to give it a go. Our daughter just took three of our most recently rescued kittens back to live with her and her boyfriend in NYC, and they took to using the LR4 immediately. I'll let you know how it goes with 12 cats (yes, 12). Nice job, much appreciation.
Thank you ❤️ this was super informative and I've been using a regular box we just can't afford to get something this amazing right now. But I appreciate all the information you have shared and shown. Beautiful fur babies to.
Thank you for the in-depth review. I’ve had a LR-3 Connect for a couple years now and without issue except for their older app before they changed over. Then, suddenly the motor stopped running mid-cycle and never came back on again (so movement or sound at all). Instead of tearing it apart (which may have voided the warrantee), I contacted customer service and they were able to send me a new bottom to the machine. After getting the new one I decided to tear open the motor to see if I could figure out what was wrong since the warrantee was transferred over to the new unit. I found that one of the gears inside there appeared to have been installed in reverse the entire time, leading to a poor interlocking between the teeth and it ground down the tiny portion it was touching. A little cleaning, greasing, and rotating that tiny gear fixed it right up. Just waiting on a new bonnet and I will have a second one running for the cost of about $200 (for a second hand globe, new bonnet, and refurbished step). I’d love to know if you ever had an issue with your LR-3’s motor failing- and if it fails on the LR-4 what the insides look like that appear to make it so much quieter than the 3. Thanks again. Very informative video.
Great review. I think we'll end up purchasing a Litter Robot 4 for our own (6) cats since this one seems to be the most reliable of the bunch (with the least amount of annoying problems).
I adore ur wonderful kitties. They r all so precious. I have 3 kits right now. I lost my 16 yr old Persian last year. I'm trying to get 2 more bundles. I luv them so much. When I had my rescue, I had 20 kitties. They were my world as well. I miss them all so much. It's a shame they do not live as long as they should. I've subscribed to ur channel, bcz u must be a wonderful person. Thank u. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'd like to personally thank Bertie for representing my girl's weird peeing habits and giving all of these boxes a fair test lol. Your videos are amazing. Thank you so much for all the time, money, and effort you put forth to help us make decisions on what kind of self cleaning litter box would fit our households best - and if it's worth it!
In the past, I have always been a huge Phillip Bloom, fan, and coming across. This video was awesome! Shout out Philip bloom in carry on the awesome work!!
I like the way you showed the "kicker" lol Our Tabby girl has ocd so she'll kick and kick and kick. The thing which concerns me is there's only a small area for the cat to sit inside the box. How much litter does it hold exactly? Our extra large hooded litter box holds 40 lbs, giving each cat their own personal space. My tuxedo male sprays on the back of the box and runs down. My Tabby girl uses the right side middle and our Maine Coon because she's large prefers the front by the opening. I leave the flip door up so it's easier for her. Since I'm ocd, I clean out the litter box 5 times a day. I'm still not convinced a Robot would be best for our cat kids. Thank you for your amazing videos! They've been a huge help!
They look small at first glance, especially compared to traditional rectangular boxes, but none of our cats have any problem (a quite floofy but objectively smaller 8lb, and two 15lb cats) with them. Since the interior is globular, while the "sandy area" is about 12" in diameter the available space for them to move around in is much larger, and that seems to be mostly what matters to them. Especially since the litter patch is "clean" every time they use it, so they aren't spending time shuffling around looking for an unused area. Our youngest does tend to put his front paws on the "fence" area and stick his head and shoulders outside the globe, but that's just him wanting to be able to watch outside the unit for sneak attacks. He's still got plenty of room inside on the occasions he does go fully into the globe. 😺
Great video! Loved all of the fun & creative camera angles, the dedication of putting your cameras into the litter box/bin, bags was definitely something notable haha. Thanks for the video! I already have the LR4, but this really helped me learn even more about the machine itself.
I watched all your videos, and we now have a Litter Robot 4. So far, we are delighted with this decision. I hope we will have many years of usage. Good job Bertie, keep up the good work.
you cannot imagine my glee after stumbling upon this video and your channel as a whole!!!! thank you algorithm gods!!!!! you work is amazing and i love all the cats and their different personalities and wow the production quality of your videos are SUPERB holy cow thank you for everything!!!
I’m so happy! You went and got sevvy. I have been very poorly and not following your uploads but just seen this and now half way through in pausing to find sevvys video. The last one I saw you wanted to take her but said that was her home. I remember commenting saying to go get her. You’ve made my day!
Thank you, that was grand. I suggest you take a silver/ metallic paint sharpie marker and label the weird little icons with actual words written right beside the buttons. Men and women alike of our generation and older don't care to look those icons up every day, not matter how gadget friendly we may be! Of course, on the white litterbox 4 you can use a regular sharpie marker of any dark color.
What a great review! I really want the litter robot 4 but my old lady kitty definitely is a side pee-er, not as high as your berty, but still enough that I was glad to learn about this problem! It was really impressive that they acknowledged the issue! Can't wait to see the fence they come up with get released
Thank you! I have the Pura Max and am very happy with it. Luckily I don't have any leaking problems. My cat pees in the corner like Bert , but luckily just low enough for there not to be a leaking problem. I was not able to get the Litter Robot 4 shipped to Spain. And not interested in the LR3 due to the noise levels and old school design. I'm a bit picky like that. So I took the chance with Pura Max, since Amazon gave me 4 weeks to return if I faced any issues. Your insights inside all the litter machine groups have been invaluable. Thanks for taking your time to create these videos and provide honest insights for consumers to evaluate what's best for their unique situation. 🙏🏻
Thank you Camilla. Bert only peed like that once, the issue with the Pura Max is more fundamental. Where you saw him peeing inside on the edge is where leaks are happening as there is no watertight seal on it. I am glad you don’t have any issues. Have you looked under the drum by any chance? You probably have to clean it…
@@OneManFiveCats Yes, I have been super aware of looking under the drum, because I've read about all the issues. Luckily, there's hardly anything there. Just a little bit of dust from the litter, which is very minimal. I've had it for about 2 months now, and still no issues. I've only had to do a deep clean once. I only have one cat also, so the use is less heavy than with your 6 cats. I use Cat's Best natural clumping litter. I think I might have been lucky with my model, or just lucky with how my cat use the litter box. Either way. I guess it's like with everything, you just gotta try to find out if it works for you. Hopefully, with time, all litter machines will be totally cat-proof :D
@@camillagroen six cats really helped me find the flaws in machines quickly! Your videos are beautifully done and I LOVE that you’ve taken the time to do a legit review of these cat boxes. ❤️ Can’t wait to see more about these boxes and what your opinions are about all of them. Currently trying to find the best one to buy. With 4 cats, I think it’s time to upgrade our potty box situation. Thank you
Ich möchte den popur x5 pro kaufen. Leider gibt es nur noch die basisversion zu kaufen. Kennt hier jemand einen shop wo man noch die pro version kaufen kann?
Sir, did you just start your intro from the belly of the beast? 😁 Incredible! When I search for review videos this is what I’m looking for. I would literally purchase whatever you recommend. Your video was informative, thorough and thoughtfully executed. I’ve never seen anything like it on Cat UA-cam. Thank you for taking the time to make this for us. Instant follow! 🥰
Thank you so much! It is Prime Day and I have 3 adult males and just recently found and adopted an abandoned 6 week old female who is now 9 weeks old. My son has the Litter Robot 4 and loves it. I have also seen the other brands available at great prices on Amazon for Prime Day. I am off to part 2 but am leaning towards the LR4. Scooping 3 adult litter boxes and a kitten bix every day is too much. I am a teacher, so i wanted to maje the best unfirmed decision. I have spent hiurs pourung over reviews until your channel was mentioned. I cannot thank you enough for your educational and entertaining video. I will sgare my final decision after Part 2. Prime Day is offering several of the models for $100 to $150 off, but money is inky saved if you get a quality product. 🙂
I saw the time of this review and thought 'What can possibly take a half an hour to discuss a litter box'. Fast forward, I watched the whole thing, then watched it again with my girlfriend to convince her. I saw so many reviews that discussed what was so great about it, then they would get to the Cons and there were just too many to discuss and I never really understood who would go through the hassle with so many Cons. Your video showed how Automatic Litter Boxes have evolved over the years and I think it's about time to pick up one. I am awaiting your Part 2 as we use PETKIT products and they've been wonderful. Looking forward to other reviews. You have a way with film, and it shows.
Love how much work you put into the shots, the cinematography is very well done! Makes me curious if your full time job relates to film. It will also help people make the right decision with a expensive item. Really looking forward to part 2, and how you built the catio
These machines are quite an investment, and there are an awful lot of things to consider, which is why your thoughtful and thorough review will be very much appreciated! This has got to be the best litter robot review out there! Curious if you had any pooper-bloopers during the course of filming?? Never seen such enthusiastic litter flinging!😂❤️🐾 #bloomcatfans 🥰
We had gotten our Litter robot 4, which we have named our 4th child since we love it so much shortly after bringing home our youngest at 5 weeks. He was found on a highway by a friend. Anyway he was tiny but we had zero issues with him using the LR4. It had some trouble determining his weight to track but never had an issue with him being caught. The sensors are really good.
Part 2 is now live! ua-cam.com/video/qO0HHtMEOb8/v-deo.html The large fence is now shipping with all machines. If you are experiencing any of the problems I show then contact customer service and they will send you the new large fence free.

How am I supposed to know your English isn’t good enough to know? Your reply was very over the top and unnecessary . Most people don’t even reply to comments.
What a great review. As someone who own 6 cats as well I decided to pull the plug and buy it as well. Thank you for all the effort you put into this video.
UK Fan here! I just upgraded my Pura Max to the LR4, I mentioned at checkout that I heard about the Robot from your channel, hopefully you get recognition. Thanks for your reviews and content!
So there's potentially an advantage to me living near Detroit? 😂 Thanks for the informative review. Have wondered about the litter robots. I'll be watching for part 2. Good to know about the weight limitations, too. I don't have small cats at present, but that could change!
I bet there will be many people wants to get a cat if there is a perfect litter box. The cat I used to have, does not know to turn around once enter, so all the pee and poop ended up near the entrance, sometimes outside of it, he is a big male cat. As he gets older he start kicking all the litter very high. All these littler box are not going to cut it and the stair is way too high for old cat to climb in when they get older but that problem can be solve with a sturdy man made ram. Though I still have not seen any litter box that I like, some are getting close but still not solving those problem but only bandage it. Hope they continue to improve these contraptions. Thank you for the in depth comparison, this proves informative.
The way you know you are a real cat person is when you don't have any cats because your landlord doesn't allow pets and you watch every minute of these videos. I consider it research for when I buy a house next year (2023) and the first "accessory" I want to furnish it with is 2 kittens. (Yes I know I have to wait until they're old enough to use a self cleaning box)
I'm so sorry for the loss of your beloved cat. I will keep your other ones in my prayers that they all get well soon.
I never knew a cat product reviewing video could be such a cinematic masterpiece. This is like a BBC show. 🙀
Totally agree!! ❤
Agreed
the brittish are awesome! Would of been cool if he was like I need to pause this video to go have a cup of tea!
Look at his newer videos, you’ll see that he is a film maker. Makes sense, the quality is excellent!
Silly silly Grogu 😜
Two years ago you posted a video about self cleaning litter boxes and I commented that I didn't have a cat, but still watched you videos are they are so entertaining. Fast forward a year, and now I have 4 cats! All were 8 week old feral kittens I trapped from under a neighbors shed (I had the mother spayed) and they have recently just turned a year old.
Your video about Harriett really inspired me to open my heart and listen to it as it wanted a cat, but I was afraid to take the leap. The four I have are wonderful.
Thank you!
That’s great to hear! Four is a good number, six is better. 😂
Bless you for taking care of them!
I love this!
I also have four that a rescued and they are awesome 😍💕
Exactly 💯 💯 💯 ❤
Props to Bertie for taking his job as a beta tester very seriously, pushing the boundaries of what the machine has to be able to handle.Thank you for this very informative review, it's very nice to watch, even though I have no need with just two cats. But maybe someday if I have more space and an excess of money. Can't wait for that catio video, it looks so beautiful!
The catio looks stunning, doesn't it?! I'm looking forward to that video too. :)
😅
I have 1 cat who is 18 and has kidney issues. I absolutely love the app and the information it stores on the number of times used.
lol I got a litter robot for just one cat after a few weeks of manual scooping
W
Question for you those who have these.
Bertie and Percy are almost 18 and their health isn’t great 😔
Very happy its working out for you. Philip
@@OneManFiveCats Thanks so much, she’s definitely missed and brought a ton of joy to our household for 17 years (youngest daughter rescued her when she was 4) We are having a ton of fun with the two kittens and had to get something to use the expensive litter box. Hey, question about the litter robot four. My mom got one and it has been having issues such as “Over Torque Fault” constantly displayed on her app. Have you had any issues with your system since you’ve had it?
@@OrficeMagmar she needs to vacuum inside under the drum. Maybe some litter has gotten somewhere it shouldn’t.
I spent 30 mins Sunday morning watching this National Geographic quality level documentary of robots that cost nearly $1000 created entirely to scoop cat poop and pee - shot and edited by some guy on the other side of the world via a free video site.
What a time to be alive.
All six will need extra treats for the dedication they put to testing these units. Cheers!
Thanks Patrick, it’s much appreciated. I much prefer doing these videos than the camera ones!
Extra fuel for the boxes
This is some crazy production value with the sheer amount and type of camera shots.
It's pretty clear why he's a wildlife videographer, isn't it? His videos are works of art!
Thank you!!
Thank you so much! 🙂
Isnt he awesome? He is a pro filmmaker) he def knows what he is doing ❤
Thanks 😊
I'm not even in the market for a litter box, but love the real man reviews! Keep up the amazing work!
Dang, I was hoping we could see the comparisons before Black Friday sales 😅
@@nickjonesing to be honest this is the only one that has a Black Friday sale offer on it in the series that I recommend.
Given the cost on these things, the long term reviews are appreciated.
Thank you! Does your cat pee as high as Bert at the end of the video when it jets out of the Pura Max?
Yep... they should have a contest!
In my personal opinion, at parents need to be dedicated just like this man is. KUDOS 👏 to you for being such a dedicated cat daddy!
It's like watching a David Attenborough documentary 😂 Thanks for this! Very informative 😸
I’m on kitty number 2 and growing weary of cleaning litter every day thinking about one of these. Thank you!
That naughty litter kicker was having too much fun, lol!
For the first time in almost two decades, I am not owned by a feline. But I'm preparing myself for a future where I'll definitely be a cat butler again and armed with the knowledge for choosing the best litter box. Can't wait for all these videos.
"Cat Butler" 😂😂 I love this and it is the perfect description❤❤
Litter robot is by far the best one on the market. Thank you for the thorough review.

From a fellow feline 5 person ( or 6?) Thank You for your Masterful Review 👍! Loved it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I will have to get set up 😻😻😻😻😻😍👍
Wow! Such an EXTENSIVE review! Thank you very much!
Cats are really the king of the internet. I effin love cats…gosh, i wouldn’t live without em.
This is the best review of ANY product that I have ever watched. I own the Litter Robot 3, and your video convinced me to upgrade to the Litter Robot 4. Thanks for the amazing content!!!😊
Thank you 😊
I haven’t owned a cat in quite a while and for the reason my spouse has a problem with any smelly litter box.
I love your outdoor sanctuary! ;)
OH MY GOSH THANK YOUU I have 8 cats and have a struggle staying ontop of their boxes. its wonderful to see someone else with a lot of cats use a machine like this
The thing I enjoyed the most about this video (although all of it was great) was how incredible that catio is at night! 😍
Thanks, you should watch that section properly here: Bertie and the Catio

I created a catio at my townhouse it and it has been invaluable. It also functions as a safe yet enjoyable place to secure the cats if the front door needs to be opened and left open for workmen etc. Certainly better than being locked in a bathroom.
The thing I enjoyed the most was the process. I am a problem solver and really enjoyed this video from that perspective as well as from the perspective of a feline devotee.
I have an outdoor shower in the corner of my catio. It is like standing under a waterfall in the rainforest. I am working on turning it into a sensor so they can cool off whenever they like in summer.

Thanks! This was exactly the kind of review I've been waiting for for this litterbox. Looking forward to part 2
Thank you Willie 🙂
Excellent review, thank you for the calm delivery 😊. Looking forward to part two!
Since environment is an issue for us, our robot can
a) handle natural litter like cats best, since betonite litter is bad for the environment
b) we try to use high quality 3rd party parts whenever possible
c) all mechanical parts are overdimonsioned and should be functioning for multiple decades (calculated).
The Popur is good, not perfect though. I will explain everything in part 2
@@OneManFiveCats awaiting your review. They have a 100 day money back guarantee so if it turns out to be a flop I can fall back on that. However they have the sale running right now with no clear end date, so I wanted to nab it before it’s full price.
I love the quality of this video, so thorough, so well presented! Love all your kitties, and I NEED to see more of your catio
Thanks Rebekah, am working hard on that video too. You can see lots more of my cats and the catio at instagram.com/thebloomcats
I might try that. I don’t fancy cleaning my machine every 3 days though!
Haha.. That's a good point with now 6 cats. But now typing that makes me think it's more of a need.. I'd love to hear what you think.
@@achillesdesigns207 I don’t really have an issue with using it like I do. I give it a wipe down when needed then a deep clean of the globe every 6 weeks-ish.
Appreciate your dedication to detail on these videos and also to your cats.
Still testing litters to see what works best, taking suggestions.
we use dr elseys standard premium blue bag and it works pretty well. May use the low tracking version once in a while when we can find it. 7 cats
Sustainably Yours .... super fast clumping made with cassava rather than clay. Hands down the best in any automatic litter box.
I buy the litter that LR sells. A bit more expensive but lasts longer.
I've been super tempted with this machine, and your review has really helped!
Phillip, I’ve been following you for many years. Thank you for the inspiring content.
Thank you. 🙂
This feels like it needs to be a Netflix series
Glad to see they upgraded the litter robot! I had a 3 that I used for perhaps a year and then moved ... and well never set it up again. I had problems with the litter building up in spots, the bonnet not fitting properly after some time, the box sensor getting messed up, and found deep cleaning to be less than idea. It definitely seems like they made improvements!
There are no two ways about it. You GOTTA love a bloke with SIX cats. You gotta.
I like the way you showed the "kicker" lol
Our Tabby girl has ocd so she'll kick and kick and kick.
Thanks for the personal time spent on this.
Thanks! :)
Bertie says thanks! 😅
you cannot imagine my glee after stumbling upon this video and your channel as a whole!!!! thank you algorithm gods!!!!! you work is amazing and i love all the cats and their different personalities and wow the production quality of your videos are SUPERB holy cow thank you for everything!!!
Thank you very much 🙂
I’m so happy! You went and got sevvy. I have been very poorly and not following your uploads but just seen this and now half way through in pausing to find sevvys video. The last one I saw you wanted to take her but said that was her home. I remember commenting saying to go get her. You’ve made my day!
It's lovely having her here. You should check out her Instagram... instagram.com/severus_the_beach_cat
That was hilarious! Love your video. Great work.
You probably have to clean it…
And thanks for the “super thanks” 🙂
If I only had one I would need to spent a lot longer on each to see how they go…maybe a year with each machine! 😂
The Pura Max didn’t like having five cats using it, it got really dirty very easily. There’s an add on for the screen to cover it over to make it possible to empty the litter out into the waste drawer, it take two cycles to do it fully.
If you order it make sure you select “filter screen” only as it’s easy to miss it, I did! 🫣

@@OneManFiveCats I got the newest mat with my order. The one that's patterned and made of fabric kind of material. Thanks for the tip in regards to the screen cover. I've been thinking about ordering that.
Your videos are beautifully done and I LOVE that you’ve taken the time to do a legit review of these cat boxes. ❤️
Can’t wait to see more about these boxes and what your opinions are about all of them.
Currently trying to find the best one to buy. With 4 cats, I think it’s time to upgrade our potty box situation.
Thank you
Such a thorough and entertaining review.
Thank you so much!
Can not wait for part 2? The best in-depth review that I’ve seen on UA-cam.
You are really good at making videos, I know a lot of time went into it.❤
Thanks :) enjoy part 2
Wow, I never thought I'd have as much fun watching a self-cleaning litter box review, keep it up man, great work!
Thank you very much. 😊
Your catio looks amazing...you have some spoiled cats indeed! They can enjoy the outdoors without killing the birds in the process 😂
Thank you very much. Yes I am a filmmaker when I am not filming cat poop! 😂
We need this for our 3 cats! Fantastic review!
props to you sir! this was a brilliant review and my favorite so far. i actually watched the entire thing. your catio is absolutely breathtaking.

Thank you! I think the litter robot 4 with the new large fence would work, there’s already a step but you could and a ramp.
How do you know if you are a cat person? You watch a video on cat poop and pee and look forward to the sequel. 🤣
Top notch production quality!
